高考英语before 的一个特殊用法

浅议before的用法作者：黄扬梅来源：《高中生学习·高二文综版》2015年第05期在高中英语学习中，before是一个较为常用的虚词，它既可用作介词又可用作副词，还可以用作从属连词。

其作为从属连词的用法是整个高中阶段语法学习的重点和难点。

近些年各地的高考都倾向于考查这一用法。

现将其作为从属连词的用法归纳如下：1. 表示“在……之前”，用来说明主从句所描述动作发生的顺序。

Mary had cleaned the classroom before she went home.Mary在回家之前已经将教室打扫干净了。

（before在这里表示Mary是先打扫教室，然后才回家。

打扫教室的动作发生在回家之前。

）They had got everything ready before I arrived.在我到达之前他们已经把一切都准备好了。

例1 ;You must learn to consult your feeling and your reason ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ;any decision. （reach）（2013年高考湖南卷）在做决定前，你一定要学会考虑自己的感觉与理智。

解析 ;before you reach。

这里是指要先考虑到自己的感觉和理智，然后再做决定。

2. 表示“过了……之后……才……”，强调从句的谓语动词所表达的时间、距离很长或花费较大。

She and her family hid away for nearly twenty-five months before they were discovered.她和她的家人躲藏了近25个月才被发现。

They worked day and night about three days before everything returned to normal.他们不分昼夜地工作了三天直到一切恢复正常。

3.表示“还没来得及……就……”，目的在于强调从句所表示的动作发生之前，主句动作就已经发生，着重体现主句谓语动词所表达的时间、距离短或花费的精力较小，常与情态动词can/could连用。

高考英语before 用法终结篇1. before 译为“在……之前”。

例如：Don't count your chickens before they are hatched. （ Proverb ）不要在蛋尚未孵出之前先数鸡。

（勿过分指望没有把握之事。

）（谚语）We do want to buy something now before prices go up. 在物价上涨之前，我们现在的确想买一些东西。

2. before 译为“……才”。

例如：The meeting was over before he arrived. 会议结束了，他才到。

例如：He had measured me before I could get in a word. 我还没有来得及插话，他就给我量好了。

Someone called me up in the middle of the night， but they bung up before I could answer the phone. 有人在半夜给我打电话，但我还没有来得及接，电话就被挂了。

4. before 位于表示一段时间的词语之后时，可译为“……之后”。

例如：Sun Shuwei studied hard at school and trained hard for five years before he came to the national team.孙淑伟在学校努力学习，刻苦训练， 5 年之后进入了国家队。

They worked long hours for several weeks before everything returned to normal.他们超负荷工作，几周之后，一切才恢复正常。

（先检查自行车的刹车，再骑）2.表示“……才……”强调before引导从句中的动作发生得太慢或太晚。

例如：The bus driver almost knocked me down before he saw me.巴士司机差点把我撞到，才看到我。

3.表示“还没来得及……就……”“未……就……”强调主句的动作发生得过早或过快。

例如：It became dark before we finished our task.我们还未完成任务，天就黑了。

4.表示“就……”“便……”强调从句动作发生得早或快。

在表示该种含义的句子中，主句中的谓语动词多是否定形式，或者主句中含有强调数量少的词。

例如：It hadn’t rained long before it cleared up. 雨沒下多久，天就放晴了。

5.表示“趁着还没有……”该用法的before引导的从句虽然是肯定形式，但是传达出否定意义。

例如：Work hard before you are old. 趁着还没老，努力工作。

4. prep. 与其......（宁愿）I'd shoot myself before I apologized to him! 我宁死也不向他道歉!5. adv. 以前，强调时间We've seen that film before. 我们以前看过那场电影。

高考中before和since的考点和用法Before:(1) 假设主句是一般时将来时态，从句是一般现在时.假设主句是肯定句意思是“要过多长时间才〞；假设主句是否认形式翻译成“用不了多久就〞。

(2)这时假设主句是一般过去时从句也是一般过去时。

假设主句是肯定句翻译成“多长时间之后才〞，假设主句是否认形式翻译成“没过多久就〞。
