Step І Leading-in (Free-talk)
T: I’m your English teacher, so I can speak English. Can you speak
English?
S: Yes, I can. I can speak English.
T: Can you play the guitar? Who knows the guitar? OK! Today we’ll
learn Unit 1 Can you play the guitar?
Step II Presentation
1.Present the new language. Perform actions or show cards to present
the new words. Then present the target language.
-- What can you do?
-- I can play the piano.
-- Can you dance?
-- Yes, I can . /No, I can't .
Ss read 1a together, and match the activities with the people. Then
check the answers.
2.T: I can swim, so I want to join the swimming club. And also there
are a lot of different kinds of clubs. Can you name them?
S: Art Club English Club Swimming Club
Chess Club Dancing Club Guitar Club
T: Which club do you want to join?
Let the students practice the conversations in pairs.
Let the students act in the front of the classroom.

Listen to the tape twice and number the conversations.
Check the answers.

Step IV Pair Work If you want to join a club, what questions can you answer /can they
ask?
a. What's your name?
b. What club do you want to join?
c. What can you do?
d. Why do you want to join the club?
2. Divide the class into several groups. They stand for different
clubs .Every group chooses two students as club leaders ,the others
are volunteers who want to join the clubs .

Language Points:
1.想要干某事：Sb. want to do sth. 遵循主谓一致原那么。主语是I\We\You They,谓语用want;其它单数名词做主语谓语用其第三人称单数形式wants.其否认结构don’t want \doesn’t want.
其一般疑问结构：Do\Does +主语+want +其他+？
其特殊疑问结构：特殊疑问词+do\does +主语+want +其他+？
2. 体育俱乐部 a sports club.
3. 足球俱乐部 the soccer club.
4. 擅长讲故事 be good at telling stories.
5. 参加讲故事俱乐部 join the story telling club.
6. 使役动词 let sb.+do. Let’s join now. 让我们现在就参加吧！
7. Also ＆ too 的有表‘也’但有不同。Also 放在单词前，too那么放在句末并用逗号隔开。
