Banks, companies, and government agencies use secret codes in doing business, especially when information is sent by computer.People have used secret codes for thousands of years. __36__Code breaking never lags (落后) far behind code making. The science of creating and reading coded messages is called cryptography. There are three main types of cryptography.__37__ For example, the first letters of “My elephant eats too many eels”spell out the hidden message “Meet me”.__38__You might represent each letter with a number, for example.Let's number the letters of the alphabet,in order, from 1 to 26.If we substitute a number for each letter, the message “Meet me”would read “13 5 5 20 13 5.”A code uses symbols to replace words, phrases,or sentences. To read the message of a real code, you must have a code book.__39__ For example,“bridge”might stand for “meet”and “out”might stand for “me”. The message “bridge out”would actually mean “Meet me”.__40__ However,it is also hard to keep a code book secret for long.So codes must be changed frequently.A.It is very hard to break a code without the code book.B.In any language, some letters are used more than others.C.Only people who know the keyword can read the message.D.As long as there have been codes, people have tried to break them.E.You can hide a message by having the first letters of eachword spell it out.F.With a code book, you might write down words that would stand for other words.G.Another way to hide a message is to use symbols to stand for specific letters of the alphabet.【语篇解读】这是一篇说明文. 空格前的a alsoenthusiastic, happy, and energetic.1 For example:●Avoid phones or computers in bed.Watching late-night TV,reading on a phone,late-night chatting and surfing not only reduce your sleeping hours but have seen something valuable in you or your expertise.2● Remember that fear of public speaking is very common.3 Most of the people in the audience would be feeling the same fear and stress that you do in your position.Knowing this may make you feel better.●4 What you say should be tailored to why you’re there and who you’re speaking to in order to avoid sounding general. If speaking to a charity group, mention the good work certain specific individuals have done for the cause. If speaking at a business conference, briefly state why you want to help these people.●Keep eye contact with the crowd.5 Pick one person in each section and look at him while you’re speaking. After each important point in your speech, switch your focus to another section. When you focus only on one person at a time, the How to Overcome Social AnxietyIf you suffer from social anxiety, you will fear certain situations. In whatever situation your fear turns up, you will probably experience sweating, feeling your heart race or other symptoms of anxiety. 31 No matter what your symptoms are, there are things you can do to deal with social anxiety.1. Relaxing muscles.32 It is impossible to feel both relaxed and anxious. For deep muscle relaxation, you will relax the major muscle groups of your body, beginning with your feet and working your way towards your head and face.2. Breathing slowly.Controlling your breathing when you are anxious is another good way to deal with your emotions. When you are anxious, your breath becomes faster and shallower. 33 If you learn to breathe more slowly and regularly through your nose, you will calm down.3. Controlling your thoughts.Faulty thinking is another feature of social anxiety. 34 So it is important to judge whether those thoughts are true. People with social anxiety always overestimate how badly others think of them. Keep in mind that your thoughts are only guesses about what others will think or what you will do.4. 35Most people with social anxiety want to hide or run away from whatever they are afraid of. But by facing your anxiety instead, you will find that is usually something you can put up with. When using this method, focus on what is going on around you instead of what is going through your mind, and that should help you get out of those anxious thoughts.Have you found any of the described methods useful? If you have other ways to cope with anxiety, don’t hesitate to share with us.A. Facing your anxiety.3B. Practicing makes perfect.C. There is no need to worry, though.D. 阅读七选五提升练(一)A(2018·浙江高三高考压轴)What Is Fear?Fear is a basic feeling arising when we feel threatened, and can have physical symptoms such as sweaty hands and an increased heart rate. 1 On the upside...Fear means growth.Fear tells us we are moving towards the edge of our comfort zone.We are doing something unfamiliar and learning new skills. This means we are growing, and growth means that once we go beyond the uncomfortable bit,we will be stronger, better and brighter than before! 2Things are never as bad as they seem.In most cases, the thing we fear is never as bad as we think it will be.When we are trying to make a decision to do something new,we lack the perspective to see further than the familiar range. 3 No.If you look back on some of the scary things you’ve had to do in the past, you would now say,“What was so scary about this?!”We are always stronger than we think!Fear can teach us so much about our personal powers. There is no other feelinglike the victory you feel that makes you realize you won. 4 Who cares? You made the leap! This will build your confidence!Think of your yoga practice. We CAN stand on our hands, even though we sometimes doubted it.And it will make us realize that we are so strong!Fear is part of life, and doesn’t need to be eliminated.5 We can welcome it;we can cope with it and proceed in spite of it.The best decisions in life art rarely the easiest teens try drugs to fit in with a group of friends.Or they might be curious or just bored.Someone may use illegal drugs for many reasons, but often because they help the person escape from reality for a while.A drug might temporarily make someone who is sad or upset feel better or forget about problems.1Drugs don’t solve problems,of course. And using drugs often causes other problems on top of the problems the person had in the first place. 2 This means that the person’s body becomes so used to having this drug that he or she can’t function(正常运转) well without it.3 Stopping can cause withdrawal(戒毒) symptoms, such as throwingup, sweating, and shaking. These sick feelings continue until the person’s body gets adjusted to being drug free again. If someone is using drugs, you might notice changes in how the person looks or acts. 4 However,it’s important to remember that depression or another problem could be causing these changes.Somebody using drugs might:●lose interest in school●become moody,negative,bad-tempered,or worried all the time●ask to be left alone a lot●sleep a lot (maybe even in class)●get in fights5 This could be a parent, other relative, teacher, coach,or school counselor. The person might need professional help to stop using drugs.A grown-up can help the person find the treatment needed to stop using drugs.Another way kids can help kids is by choosing not to try or use drugs. It’s a good way for friends to stick together.A.Here are some of those signs.B.But this escape lasts only until the drug wears off.C.Once someone is addi cted,it’s very hard to stop taking drugs.D.Taking drugs is not only bad to your health but also to your family.E.Somebody who uses drugs can become dependent on them,or addicted.F.If you make friends, please be careful to observe if she or he is addicted to drugs.G.If you think someone is using drugs, the best thing to do is to tell an adult that you trust.CThe teenage years can be a very confusing time filled with anxiety, especially in high school. Here are some powerful tips which can help you succeed in the years.Know yourself and pick a direction. You may be faced with too many choices in your life and it’s unwise to try everything. 1 Consider all the benefits that it brings into your life and then see how you can develop your passion into a possible career option.Get away from the friends that offer poisonous advice and negativity. There is no place for that kind of behaviour at any stage of your life. 2 This does wonders for self-confidence and overall positivity.Read as much as you can. 3 Stop spending hours in watching your favorite TV shows and instead use that time to invest in yourself by reading. You’ll notice in a few days how you begin to see things in a different light.4 I am 19 years old,so I understand just how much time can be wasted on technology, especially the Internet and cellphones.Once you spend less time doing things that add no value to your life and instead spend that time enrichingyourself, your life begins to shape and turn into exactly what you want it to be.Make mistakes.Look at a mistake you’ve made from every possible angle and takethe lessons from it.Your teenage years are meant to be spent getting to know yourself.5 It’s okay to make mistakes.A.Try different things.B.Just focus on your favorite.C.Work hard to improve your scores.D.Limit the time spent on social media.E.You can’t achieve this by trying to be perfect all the time.F.Pick up a book on anything that expands your knowledge base.G.And you should value yourself highly enough to get rid of these people.DIf anyone had told me three years ago that I would be spending most of my weekends camping.I would have laughed heartily.Campers,in my eyes, were people who enjoyed insect bites,ill-cooked meals, and uncomfortable sleeping bags. They hadnothing in common with me. 1The friends who introduced me to camping thought that it meant to be a pioneer.2 We slept in a tent, cooked over an open fire, and walked a long distance to takethe shower and use the bathroom. This brief visit with Mother Nature cost me two daysoff from work, recovering from a bad case of sunburn and the doctor’s bill for myson’s food poisoning.I was, nevertheless, talked into going on another fun-filled holiday in the wilderness. 3 Instead,we had a pop-up camper with comfortable beds and an air conditioner. My nature-loving friends had remembered to bring all the necessities of life.4 We have done a lot of it since.Recently,we bought a twenty-eight-foottravel trailer complete with a bathroom and a built-in TV set. There is a separate bedroom,a modern kitchen with a refrigerator. The trailer even has matching carpet and curtains.5 It must be true that sooner or later, everyone finds his or her way back to nature.I recommend that you find your way in style.A.This time there was no tent.B.Things are going to be improved.C.The trip they took me on was a rough one.D.I was to learn a lot about camping since then,however.E.I must say that I have certainly come to enjoy camping.F.After the trip,my family became quite interested in camping.G.There was no shade as the trees were no more 阅读七选五提升练(三)A(2018·浙江学军中学高考冲刺)30 years ago,I was rocking my baby boy in my arms.1 My wife was half asleep and half watching TV in the living room.I poured myself a glass of iced tea in the kitchen, and walked into the front yard.2 On the hill next to our house the neighbor’s children were running after fireflies(萤火虫),hoping to catch one in a jar.I sat down in my chair and watched them for a while. As fast as they could run, though, they couldn’t seem to catch the slow moving lightinginsects. Finally, tired, they sat down in the grass and just watched the little guys flying through theair, flashing their light on and off.3 It felt so good getting to see one of nature’s many miracles (奇迹)lighting up my front yard on a warm summer night.Over the years since then I have appreciated and enjoyed all of the wonderful light in this world.4 I have found it in nature, books, music, animals, prayer, and most of all in the lives of those around me.I have never tried to catch this light, however.I have learned that thrown in every three or four minutes.1They happen whether you want them ornot.Every couple of minutes a billboard passes by outside the bus window.“Buy Super Clean Toothpaste.”“Drink Good Wet Root Beer.”“Fill up with Pacific Gas.” Only if you sleep, which is equal to turning the television off,are you spared the unending cry of “You Need It!Buy It Now!”The beginning of the ride is comfortable and somewhat exciting, even if you’ve traveled that way before.2It is also fun to try to figure out the style of the driver.3Will the driver pass the truck in time? Will the driver move into the right,or the left-hand lane? After a while,of course, the excitement dies down.4And food makes this part of bus rides more interesting. But you’ve got to be careful of what kind of food you eat.Too much salty food can make you very thirsty between stops. The end of the ride is somewhat like the beginning. You know it will soon be over and there’s a kind of expectation and excitement.5 By now you’ve sat with your legs crossed, with your hands in your lap, with your hands on the armrests, and even with your hands behind your head. The end comes just at no more ways to sit.ually some things have break the law they should be handed over to the police.1 As early as May,it launched a campaign to deal with the issue.2 Several cases have even aroused nationwide concern. The root problem lies in some schools insisting on punishing the perpetrators with campus rules instead of calling the police, even though some incidents have already broken the law and the perpetrators should face legal punishments.3The schools do not want the perpetrators to go to court because it may harm their reputations so they prefer to “forget the bad things”.4The problem is,the more they try to hide, the bigger their scandal(丑闻)is.5 When the students who treat their schoolmates violently get extremely light punishments because of their young age, they might commit serious crimes in the future.Such cases should arouse our concern. It is time to solve the problem of campus violence with rules of law.A.Yet campus violence is still quite wild.B.The punishments of the schools are,of course, much lighter than legal punishments.C.Schools must be aware of the consequences of bullying and violent incidents in schools.D.This is not the first time that the ministry has introduced measures aimed at stopping campus violence.E.They think that by turning a blind eye to any wrong doing that happens on campus, they can cheat everybody.F.Worse,by trying to hide the scandal instead of solving it,the punishments.D(2018·浙江金华十校高三上学期期末联考)It is important that you teach your baby to read as young as possible. Why? Because there is simply no better time in a child’s life for learning than when they are between 3 months old and their 5th birthday. 1As a result, they are sponges(海绵) for knowledge. Moreover, being able to read is the basis for any successful education,so the earlier they start, the better. All too often, parents leave educating their children up to schools, which probably explains why the United States is currently ranked 18th in its rate of reading and writing.Teaching your baby to read provides brain exercise during the very time when his or her brain is developing. It has also been shown to increase the baby’s IQ.The sooner they begin to read, the sooner they can begin to learn other subjects. This way,by the time your children begin school, they will have already known what’s being taught, and will be put on the fast track.2One of the cases that really began to bring the fact that babies can learn to read to the public’s attention was 17-month-old Elizabeth Barrett.3She was given a series of words and even sentences that she could read quite well. Her parents had been reading to her since she was born and had provided her with a very early education.Reading is the most important thing to teach babies at a young age.4Learning can be fun at such an early age,and it can be accomplished so easily that they won’t have to struggle in order to learn. In fact, when you use the proper materials, they will look forward to learning. If you’re interested in teaching your baby to read, the best way to start is by spending just a few minutes a day.5Simply show your baby matching pictures on the opposite side. There are also videos that help to teach babies to read. There is no better time to teach your baby to read than the present.Begin by looking for learning materials that your baby might enjoy.A.Flash cards are an effective tool.B.She appeared on the TodayShow.C.Maybe they will even skip a grade down the road.D.During this time, their brains are developing rapidly.E.What’s more, your child will be able to read so successfully.F.It doesn’t have to be stressful or difficult for your child though.G.Parents talk about the pride that their children can read at an early age.

由空后的someone is triggered. . . others are not. . . 可知,相同的事情并不会引发每个人都生气,这与选项G中的not everyone acts the same in response to events以及triggers相吻合。
由空前的personality traits以及空后的pre-anger 锁定选项E中的personality traits implies the pre-anger state。
由空后的situations, create锁定选项A中的on situations can create anger within us,即对于某些情况的态度和看法是生气的原因。
