Dinosaur means terrible lizard in Latin. They were called that because people used to
think dinosaurs were lizards, but they were not. Dinosaurs first appeared about 200
million years ago. 65 million years ago, many kinds of dinosaurs became extinct.
Birds are a special type of dinosaur and they were the only kind to live until today.
There were many kinds of dinosaurs. Some ate plants and some ate meat. The

Period 3 Extensive Reading
The General Idea of This Period:
This period is about the reading of the passages:the disappearance of the dinosaurs and the
dodos;the return of the Milu deer.It will help the students learn more about wild life and realize
what made the animals disappear and what we should do to protect the environment.
