Sun••LIFE OF AESOPPrefaceTHE TALE, the Parable, and the Fable are all common and popular modes of conveying instruction. Each is distinguished by its own special characteristics. The Tale consists simply in the narration of a story either founded on facts, or created solely by the imagination, and not necessarily associated with the teaching of any moral lesson. The Parable is the designed use of language purposely intended to convey a hidden and secret meaning other than that contained in the words themselves; and which may or may not bear a special reference to the hearer, or reader. The Fable partly agrees with, and partly differs from both of these. It will contain, like the Tale, a short but real narrative; it will seek, like the Parable, to convey a hidden meaning, and that not so much by the use of language, as by the skilful introduction of fictitious characters; and yet unlike to either Tale or Parable, it will ever keep in view, as its high prerogative, and inseparable attribute, the great purpose of instruction, and will necessarily seek to inculcate some moral maxim, social duty, or political truth. The true Fable, if it rise to its high requirements, ever aims at one great end and purpose representation of human motive, and the improvement of human conduct, and yet it so conceals its design under the disguise of fictitious characters, by clothing with speech the animals of the field, the birds of the air, the trees of the wood, or the beasts of the forest, that the reader shall receive advice without perceivingthe presence of the adviser. Thus the superiority of the counsellor, which often renders counsel unpalatable, is kept out of view, and the lesson comes with the greater acceptance when the reader is led, unconsciously to himself, to have his sympathies enlisted in behalf of what is pure, honorable, and praiseworthy, and to havehis indignation excited against what is low, ignoble, and unworthy. The true fabulist, therefore, discharges a most important function. He is neither a narrator, nor an allegorist. He is a great teacher, a corrector of morals, a censor of vice, and a commender of virtue. In this consists the superiority of the Fable over the Tale or the Parable. The fabulist is to create a laugh, but yet, under a merry guise, to convey instruction. Phaedrus, the great imitator of Aesop, plainly indicates this double purpose to be the true office of the writer of fables.Duplex libelli dos est: quod risum movet,Et quod prudenti vitam consilio monet.The continual observance of this twofold aim creates the charm, and accounts for the universal favor, of the fables of Aesop. "The fable," says Professor K. O. Mueller, "originated in Greece in an intentional travestieof human affairs. The 'ainos,' as its name denotes, is an admonition, or rather a reproof veiled, either from fear of an excess of frankness, or from a love of fun and jest, beneath the fiction of an occurrence happening among beasts; and wherever we have any ancient and authentic account of the Aesopian fables, we find it to be the same." lThe construction of a fable involves a minute attention to (1) the narration itself; (2) the deduction of the moral; and (3) a careful maintenance of the individual characteristics of the fictitious personages introduced into it. The narration should relate to one simple action, consistent with itself, and neither be overladen with aand so intimately interwoven with, and so necessarily dependent on, the narration, that every reader should be compelled to give to it the same undeniable interpretation. The introduction of the animals or fictitious characters should be marked with an unexceptionable care and attention to their natural attributes, and to the qualities attributed to them by universal popular consent. The Fox should be always cunning, the Hare timid, the Lion bold, the Wolf cruel, the Bull strong, the Horse proud, and the Ass patient. Many of these fables are characterized by the strictest observance of these rules. They are occupied with one short narrative, from which the moral naturally flows, and with which it is intimately associated. "'Tis the simple manner," says Dodsley, 2 "in which the morals of Aesop are interwoven with his fables that distinguishes him, and gives him the preference over all other mythologists. His 'Mountain delivered of a Mouse,' produces the moral of his fable in ridicule of pompous pretenders; and his Crow, when she drops her cheese, lets fall, as it were by accident, the strongest admonition against the power of flattery. There is no need of a separate sentence to explain it; no possibility of impressing it deeper, by that load we too often see of accumulated reflections." 3 An equal amount of praise is due for the consistency with which the characters of the animals, fictitiously introduced, are marked. While they are made to depict the motives and passions of men, they retain, in an eminent degree, their own special features of craft or counsel, of cowardice or courage, of generosity or rapacity.These terms of praise, it must be confessed, cannot be bestowed on all the fables in this collection. Many of them lack that unity of design, that close connection of the moral with the narrative, that wise choice in the introduction of the animals, which constitute the charm and excellency of true Aesopian fable. This inferiority of some to others is sufficiently accounted for in the history of the origin and descent of these fables. The great bulk of them are not the immediate work of Aesop. Many are obtained from ancient authors prior to the time in which he lived. Thus, the fable of the "Hawk and the Nightingale" is related by Hesiod; 4 the "Eagle wounded by an Arrow, winged with its own Feathers," by Aeschylus; 5 the "Fox avenging his wrongs on the Eagle," by Archilochus. 6 Many of them again are of later origin, and are to be traced to the monks of the middle ages: and yet this collection, though thus made up of fables both earlier and later than the era of Aesop, rightfully bears his name, because he composed so large a number (all framed in the same mould, and conformed to the same fashion, and stamped with the same lineaments, image, and superscription) as to secure to himself the right to be considered the father of Greek fables, and the founder of this class of writing, which has ever since borne his name, and has secured for him, through all succeeding ages, the position of the first of moralists.7The fables were in the first instance only narrated by Aesop, and for a long time were handed down by the uncertain channel of oral tradition. Socrates is mentioned by Plato 8 as having employed his time while in prison, awaiting the return of the sacred ship from Delphos which was to be the signal of his death, in turning some of these fables into verse, but he thus versified only such as he remembered. Demetrius Phalereus, a philosopher at Athens about 300 B.C., is said to have made the first collection of these fables. Phaedrus, a slave by birth or by subsequent misfortunes, and admitted by Augustus to the honors of a freedman, imitated many of these fables in Latin iambics about the commencement of the Christian era. Aphthonius, a rhetorician of Antioch, A.D. 315, wrote a treatise on, and converted into Latin prose, some of these fables. This translation is the more worthy of notice, as it illustrates a custom of common use, both in these and in later times. The rhetoricians and philosophers were accustomed to give the Fables of Aesop as an exercise to their scholars, not only inviting them to discuss the moral of the tale, but also to practice and to perfect themselves thereby in style and rules of grammar, by making for themselves new and various versions of the fables. Ausonius, 9 the friend of the Emperor Valentinian, and the latest poet of eminence in the Western Empire, has handed down some of these fables in verse, which Julianus Titianus, a contemporary writer of no great name, translated into prose. Avienus, also a contemporary of Ausonius, put some of these fables into Latin elegiacs, which are given by Nevelet (in a book we shall refer to hereafter), and are occasionally incorporated with the editions of Phaedrus.。
波动速读入门训练(含黄卡、曼陀罗等卡片及其使用方法)七田真的波动速读法中,黄卡训练算得上是入门的基本训练,很多人知道怎样来进行训练,但却并不是特别清楚黄卡训练的目的和原理。
七田真在其《右脑革命》一书中,提到了黄卡训练的五个阶段:1,能够看到黄卡的互补色(也就是中心的蓝色圆点变成**,周围的**变成蓝色);2,能够看到黄卡的原色;3,能够有意识地改变所出现的残像的颜色和形状;4,能够自然地产生心像;5,能够随心所欲地看到自己希望看到的心像。
从这五个训练阶段我们看到,黄卡训练的最终目的,就是为了能够随心所欲地看到自己希望看到的心像——也就是激发出内视觉。
七田真把这个目的叫作右脑的活化,通过这种活化而使得大脑具备照相式阅读的能力。
这五个训练阶段,是人体内视觉功能的逐步深化。
黄卡是由中心的蓝点和周围的橙**组成。
我们眼睛的锥状细胞对黄、蓝、红、绿四种颜色最为敏感,所以,黄卡的蓝、黄两色,以及曼陀罗卡的四色,可以非常直接地刺激锥状细胞,从而轻易地让我们在闭上眼睛之后看到互补色(黄和蓝是互补的颜色,红和绿也是互补的颜色)。
黄卡训练的第一阶段,就是看到互补色阶段,这是任何人都可以轻易做到的。
刚开始训练的时候,闭上眼睛之后,互补色出现的时间比较短,而且颜色比较模糊、暗淡。
随着训练的深入,互补色在眼前“屏幕”停留的时间就会越来越长,而且越来越清晰、颜色越来越鲜明。
然而互补色停留的时间越来越长、颜色越来越鲜明,并不意味着自然就会过渡到看到黄卡原色的阶段。
因为,第一阶段和第二阶段之间,是质的差别,而不是量的差别。
可以这样说,从第一阶段进入第二阶段,是最难的阶段,大部分人到了第一阶段就徘徊不前了。
事实上,我们能看到黄卡的互补色,这是视觉神经的一种生理机能,是任何人都具备的,就像我们睁开眼睛能看到东西一样,并没有多少特殊之处。
然而,闭上眼睛能看到黄卡的原色,这个机理就大大不一样了。
因为,这需要把我们的内视觉功能激发出来,才能够做得到。
《王者速读法》
刚读到这本书,和以前看的速读的概念不大一样。
以前专门邮寄过练习速读的资料,是一些练眼睛的图和大字的书。
太有技术含量,以至于没兴趣坚持练习。
这本书却不仅教人怎么速读,还把书的作用上升到人生价值实现的高度。
涉及选书、安排时间以及看完书后的对外交流(即书本信息通过读书者的个性组合后的创造性输出,以及外界的反馈...),颇为收益。
正好当上篇博文的递进。

爱书,是因为人生苦短。
我们必须让书,这些智慧的朋友和我们共同前进,指导我们,陪伴我们,创造这个世界上属于自己的价值。
首先是确定时间。
不能平等主义。
不要让所有的事在一天之内排的满满当当。
不要用同等的时间、同等的精力对待所有的事。
这样很容易因为其中一件小事的没有完成,影响其他事情的做事心情和坚持的勇气!结果在生活的方方面面都不尽人意,难以成功。
甚至任由惰性,沉迷于无聊事物。
结果一生无所建树,回首就是“失败”!
要分出轻重缓急、主次正副。
对重要的事给予与之相应的最多的时间,根据其价值进行公平分配。
现代流行认真工作、认真学习、认真玩乐。
即在生命的每个阶段,我们的急于完成的目标和侧重点会有所不同。
某几周我们日夜攻克事业上的难题;某几月我们要拼命学习考级;而其中的某几天,我们要读书并与外界交流我们的读书笔记;再用一些专门的时间,完全和家人共度休闲时光。
还有一些时间,我们还要跳出常规,让大脑接受新的刺激:与工作无关的人相约一起做运动、温泉旅行或其他有助于进一步提升知识水平的旅行(大自然会教会我们很多东西),甚至戒食、坐禅。
生活的繁忙在合适的安排中有了别样的意义。
要确定几小时、几分钟做什么事情。
时间开始就全神贯注。
时间一到就停止。
不这样的话,别的事情不就做不成了?最后什么事情都不能按部就班地完成计划。
一点没做好,全盘皆乱。
“我要多读书”,只决定要读还不行,要确定读什么,怎样读。
目的明确的人不会目光游离。
找书,就是要充分意识到当下的目的和适合自己的主题。
回顾一下自己的言行,多些时间跳出生活总结经验;整理已有的知识储备,对未来做个展望。
并且,我们案头要常备一些认为精华的书籍。
多翻几遍这样的人物传记、史书或自己感兴趣的领域的书,有助于我们在浑浑噩噩的生活中再次明确自己的目标。
对于日渐空虚浅薄的自己来说,常常温习对自己而言尤为重要的主题和生存的意义,会让自己目标简单明确,不会随便偏离而最终一事无成。
我们要学会迅速高效获取的本领。
然而读书上的速食和暴食都是无益的。
速读的第一阶段就是选择好的书,这是读书的第一步。
具体操作如下:
把与一本书的接触定为30分钟。
第一阶段:5分钟预览:翻书前先看前言或引荐。
这往往是浓缩了书的价值和意义。
其次浏览文内大小标题,如果看不出所以然,就读一下标题下的引言,即对书有了整体把握。
清楚这本书是否是我正在寻找的信息,以及读这本书可能达到的目的。
标题中的词多是关键词。
边读边用下划线的方式做标记,不需要的信息暂时放一放。
为了细读时不再花时间找重点要读哪一部分,可以折角或用铅笔把页码记起来。
时间宝贵,不要做太费事的举动。
此过程中可以反复再回首复习文章前面的目录。
目录是基于作者的写书意图排列的,包含了本书的更基本的脉络。
5分钟内,头脑中基本就有了本书的主干结构。
其中图表、插图是为了助于读者理解作品,被用来强调作品的重要部分。
应一起浏览。
在这阶段可以知道有没有必要继续第二阶段的阅读。
第二阶段:一碗水端平,机械查看所有书页。
每页两秒。
这时会发现第一阶段漏掉的东西。
也更进一步知道了重点在哪里。
此时可在书内再做上一些标记。
千万别满书到处都是标记,至多占一本书的2—3成。
无需有意去搜寻什么字眼。
无需理解多么透彻。
下意思到达大脑的印象和词汇更为重要。
事实上你的读书目的越明确,关键词也越明显。
但速读不提倡挑关键词进行跳读。
它要求利用右脑擅长的整体印象进行整体把握。
(这和我前面提到的速读训练还是相似的,只是它没有前者那样急于要求你达到多么快速的程度。
它把读书当成一生要训练的议题。
,告诉你大致的方法,你再私下在需要阅读时自行训练。
)追求完美是速读的劲敌。
想把书上100%地吸收弄懂,就得花100%的时间。
100/100=1. 如只要理解80%花20%的时间。
你的效率就是80/20=4.就像两成人拥有80%的财富一样。
二八法则就是只花两成时间,却要拥有80%的知识。
我们应该摒弃耗费大把时间却收益低下的完美。
瞄准最贴合自身目的的“最优”。
全部读完不再是目的。
充满目的地读、汲取最重要环节,就是节省头脑、深刻重点的明智速读法!
第三阶段:全书了然于胸后,我们就像鸟儿一样,可以从高处着眼,只在记下的篇章和做了标记的重点处深读。
要勇于舍弃其他8成。
第四阶段:复习,同时输出。
把重点知识连贯起来,整理做成系统的思维导图。

中的关键词与思想,加上自己由此书的信息派生出的思想,一起组成全新的,真正属于自己的知识体系。
这样累积和创造,知识真的为就我所用。
对速读的追求不是盲目地加快速度,读的越多越好。
万事过犹不及。
掌握了速读的大致方法后,还要注重理解能力的加强。
要让获取的知识充分灵活地运用,让知识成为实际有用的东西,有用的知识才是智慧。
死记硬背的做法并不能完好的留存信息。
试着用自己的语言表达学到的东西,留下的印象会更加深刻。
写成论文、随笔、日记,或跟谁聊聊。
这样的加工,我们才能透彻地得到知识。
30分钟速度看完的书,也用30分钟梳理一下自己的感受。
不要怀着远大的抱负去做,否则压力就能把你压得疲惫不堪,还谈什么后话。
日输一句,积攒起来也能成长篇巨制。
让知识发挥作用、表现出来,并和他人的交谈中切实感受到它的不成熟性。
从输出那一刻开始,你的生活甚至人生会日渐丰富起来。
有人对你的东西有所反应。
外面的世界也会因为你提供的信息有所变化。
还有可能因为他人的交流,与你自己从未接触的领域产生交汇点。
输出越多,人生越丰富。
社会不是由某些事物构筑而成,而是许多人获取信息、共享信息、不断创新的产物。
参与到这个循环中,我们自己也会变得富有起来。
即便仅仅作为自己的留念,写下的人生也比让其白白流淌掉的人生更多的色彩和思考。
小说家经常说:写,是因为容易忘记。
(一周速成专家式速读法:搜集十本你想了解的领域的专业书籍。

首先阅读最基础的。
扎扎实实熟读全文,摸透该领域的整体框架。
其余9本就遵从二八法则进行速读(相当于每个重要知识点只要在3-4本书内挑出精华)。

所以,不要去读速幼稚得让你坚持不下去的练习故事了,就从你喜欢的书起,今天开始速读。
当然,一个30分钟没看透,再按程序重复30分钟。
