12)astounded指非常惊讶；surprised语气稍轻一些。
13)conventional指与正式的标准或原则相符或被其接受；traditional指跟传统一致的；reject表示拒绝同意、承认或相信；resent指对人或事感到不快或气愤。
14)settlement指一小块或孤立的居住区；smell是常用词，指气味，香臭不论；odour常指较浓的、易察觉或辨别的气味，如chemical odours。
