12)astounded指非常惊讶;surprised语气稍轻一些。
13)conventional指与正式的标准或原则相符或被其接受;traditional指跟传统一致的;reject表示拒绝同意、承认或相信;resent指对人或事感到不快或气愤。
14)settlement指一小块或孤立的居住区;smell是常用词,指气味,香臭不论;odour常指较浓的、易察觉或辨别的气味,如chemical odours。
