I. 组织机构名称的语言特点（1） 组织机构名称在英语中属于专有名词范畴，其语用特征要求专词专用， 一个组织机构名称只能使用一种译名，其词语的缩写形式和组合方式都应该 统一不变，如“中国银行”，英译为the Bank of China （BOC），不能对其 作任何更改。在书写上要求首字母大写，但是像of, the, and等虚词一般小写， 如，the People‘s Government of Tianqiao District（天桥区人民政府）。 一般说来，企业名称都是音形意的完美结合，具有易读、易记的特点。 如“可口可乐"三字，响亮而又具有节奏感，因而极具传播力。另外，从功能 角度来看，企业名称除了具有一般名称的功能之外，还具有重要的商业功 能——实现广告效应，以达到促进企业生产、销售的目的。具体表现为：

组织机构尤其是国家机关、事业单位因其本身内涵 的确定性及严肃性，在翻译时应采用定译的方法， 要注重法定依据或权威依据。具体可参考国务院 办公厅秘书局2002年2月19日印发的《国务院各 部委、各直属机构英文译名》最新修订本。未包 含在上述修订本内的有关机构，则尽量采用该机 构的官方自选英文名作为标准定译，如找不到标 准定译，则转而根据“人民网”及“中国日报” 等权威媒体上的英译，并参考英美等国相关机构 英文名，斟酌选定。

（２）"中学"的译法
❖ 在美国大多数地方，幼儿班至5年级（K-5）就读 于Elementary School (小学), 6-8年级就读于 Middle School（相当于我们的"初中"），9-12年 级就读于High School（相当于我们的"高中"）。 当然也有6-12年级均就读于High School的情况， 这时候，6-8年级段就称为Junior High School， 9-12年级段称作Senior High School，与High School的灵活性相比，将"高中"称作Senior Middle School的情况比较罕见。
