【一】(22 分)在泸县我知道船要在泸县过夜,等它靠好码头,便拿起大衣,戴上呢帽到岸上去,这时不过下午三点钟的光景。
我慢慢地走上土坡,在一个墩上站住,便掉转身子去看江景。
白带似的江水横在我的脚下,映着午后的秋阳,发出悦目的闪光,和天空成了一样的颜色。
岸边一片沙滩,几间茅屋,两只囤船,还有一列帆樯高耸的小舟。
这些似乎全陷入静止的状态,但是来往的人却使它们活动了。
一切于我都十分亲切。
我怀着轻快的心把它们全收入我的眼里。
我望着四周景物渐渐地回复到静止的状态中,我才拔脚往坡上的城市走去。
这是我第二次踏上泸县的土地,第一次还是在十七年前。
那时我不过是十八九岁的少年,怀着一颗年轻的纯白的心。
现在我重睹这个可爱的土地,我的心上已经盖满了人世的创伤,我想我应该有了大的改变。
但是站在一个掷“糖罗汉”的摊子跟前,听着从两个人手里先后掷下的骰子声,望着摊子上三四排长短不齐的糖人,我忽然觉得自己回到小孩的时代了。

【二】(17 分)知止[台湾]张继高①年幼时,父亲不止一次以“知止”二字教育我们。
当时觉得这两个字既玄又深,不能明白其中的深意。
有一年中秋,乡亲送来了两篓上好的白石榴,香甜多汁,我不禁吃个不停。
夜晚腹泻,父亲趁机 A (教训、训诲)说:这也是不懂得吃东西也应该“知止”的缘故啊。
②到了中年,每读名人传记,或观察时人的成败升沉,发现其中灾祸发生的起因在于不懂得“知止”之道的,可以说是比比皆是。
一个人理应知道他从社会上取得的最大限度是多少,超过这个限度,命运便会报复他。
问题是这个“限度”并没有科学的计算方法,也没有客观的标准。
能够估量得恰到好处的人,全凭他的自知与自省的功夫,外加一二肯直言规劝的朋友的适时谏阻。
③困难的是,已揽大权、已赚大钱的人对“知止”特别地听不进去。
像王安石,其能力、政见可以说是卓绝一代,在宋神宗的宠信之下,他独揽军政、经济大权于一身。
然而他做事太急、太贪,总想一下子就“全面”改革,结果根本无法建立真正的功业。
其不懂“知止” 之道可谓极矣。
④由王安石想到乔治·华盛顿,就觉得华盛顿高明。
华盛顿虽然指挥过美国历史上赫赫有名的独立战争,但战争结束后他不以功臣自居,决心回到老家种田。
他说:“我毕生最大的兴趣在农作。
”其“知止”功夫可以说是到家了。
⑤我对培根的散文百读不厌。
他有一句讽刺不懂得“知止”的人的话:“升级不是一件容易的事,人们费了很大的劲,一级级往上爬。
结果地位愈高,愈是痛苦,而且有时还是很卑鄙的。
人们用不尊严的手段爬到尊严的地位,结果是怎样呢?他们的地位是岌岌不保的。
说垮便会垮下来,不然也会慢慢减色,渐渐地被淘汰……”⑥我有些近十年来在商界曾经呼风唤雨过的朋友,如今不少已潜逃海外,身败名裂,或者正在苟延挣扎之中。
其中一二位在他们春风得意,夜夜逐酒征歌,结纳权贵,炒地皮、卖军火的时候,我就曾婉劝他们适可而止、相机打住。
可惜他们听不进去。
