在实习期间,我们主要承担了英语教学工作,我作为实习生中的一员,圆满完成了实习任务,并对高一英语的教学工作,进行了一番认真的思考。
我和另外一位同学,共同担任高一(2)班英语教学工作。
这个班共有学生36名,其中男生22名,女生14名。
班主任老师告诉我们,这个班大多数学生的中考成绩未达到2017年呼和浩特市中考出库线,学生整体成绩处于年级的末尾,英语学习成绩更是特别需要提高。
在实习的第一周,我的主要任务是听课、批改作业,熟悉并掌握班级学情。
从第二周开始,我们正式进入英语授课阶段。
通过听课、备课、说课、讲课、评课以及批改作业等一系列教学环节的实践,我对高一英语教学工作,进行了一次深入的思考。
并且,对以下几方面内容感触颇深:一、大学讲授的教学法,在中学的课堂中有没有用武之地从大三上学期开始,我们就开设了英语教学法的相关课程,进行英语课堂教学、英语教案写作等方面的技能培训,同时也将所学的具体教学策略应用到平时的演练中,如任务型教学法(Task-basedLanguageTeaching)、交际教学法(CommunicativeLanguageTeaching)、直接法(DirectMethod)、听说法(Audio-lingualMethod)、全身反应法(TotalPhysicalResponse),等等。
The aim of this report is to give a overall picture of what I have done and learned when I acted as an intern English teacher in my hometown during the internship period from April 11 to May 6 , 2011. And I also would like to take this opportunity to convey my heartfelt appreciation to those whose help and cooperation was important during my internship period. Especially, I would like to pay my gratitude to Mr. Zhao, who gave me great help .I. PurposeBefore the internship period ,I had longed for a precious chance to approach to the society,to feel what the real life is,and to feel the hardship in daily life.The shortcoming of life in ivory tower is the departure from the cruel society which will surely devote to our having a poor understanding of the outside world and is a great damage to our future.So, just like the other people, my purpose is direct and simple, only to obtain more working experience to fit myself into the society and prepare well for my future career before I jump out of my campus and take the outside challenges. Therefore, I will try every possible efforts and strive myself harder so as to be a good English teacher, though I am still a green hand in this line and have no experience.And it will give me an opportunity to apply all of my knowledge and skills to the work. It also can provide me the practical experience in the field of teaching in the real working environment.An German Philosopher,once said ,'If you would go up high, then use your own legs ! Do not let yourselves carried aloft; do not seat yourselves on other people's backs and heads'.I think everybody entertain great ambition for himself ,wanting to make a difference in his future life.So this internship is a wonderful platform in which he can test wether he himself is qualified and how much he can improve to face the potential challenges.II. ContentThe internship period can be divided into three phases: the Training Phase, the Practice Phase and the Real Teaching Phase.i The Training PhaseConsidering this was the first time for me to be a teacher, Mr. Zhao, my trainer,asked me to listen to some professional English teachers’ lectures, to learn the teaching procedures and how to communicate with students. The first week was designed for training , learningthe procedures of how to prepare for a lesson and many other things. Mr. Zhao, leaded me into the world of being a qualified teacher. I had never imagined that to be a English teacher could be so complicated .Since all the things were new to me, I listened to the classes very attentively. Besides, everyday I also spent lots of time and energy in getting information and knowledge about how to teach a good lesson. At the end of the training, I was also given exams on what I have learned. All in all, what I did this week was to get familiar with the way to prepare for a good lesson and acquire some basic knowledge on how to communicate with my students .After a whole week’s learning, I g ot familiar to the teaching process and began to prepare my first lecture.ii The Practice PhasesThe second week saw my practicing teaching lessons routed and viewed by Mr. Zhao. The first thing I should do was to learn how to manage to prepare for a lesson in advance. With the help of some colleagues, I got a good handling of these procedures. Although I already knew some basic ideas in how to prepare for a lesson, I still encountered many difficulties, for example how to express the terms properly and how to identify the problems, sometimes I even couldn’t understand the exact meaning and the intention of the students. In a word, this week I should adapt myself to the workflow of this job.iii The Real Teaching Phase.In the following two weeks, I had the access to the real teaching phase .To be honest, I was very excited because this was the real one! Each lesson was so divine---I now get the essence of the well-known conception.“students are the masters of class”--the basic conception of the teaching. I feared of making any mistake despite that I still received help or asked for help for a long time from Mr. Zhao. However, I recognized that I could not always spent too much time on each class. Efficiency was as important as accuracy, with the accumulation of everyday learning, I classified the cases I encountered to the similar issue I had met before and this was more effective.III. GainsI really gained a lot from this internship experience in terms of the knowledge and the art of interpersonal relationship and communication skills and so on. It was a new opportunity,new evaluation, new experience and new trial for me. The internship not only acted as a practical work in the school, but also offered me an opportunity to get more knowledge and understanding about what the real life was. I urged myself again and again that I should study hard in the internship.“Study for the sake of application”, as a Chinese saying goes, I should say that there does exist a big gap between theories and practice. During this internship period, I have learned a lot of things that I can’t get from our books:First, it offerd me an opportunity to get in touch with the things that I have not encountered before. As I have mentioned above, many things are strange to me. Furthermore, I have broadened my horizons. How real an instructive experience was!Secondly, the internship rightly provided me with a good chance to train my ability of communication and improve the spirit of teamwork. There are twelve teachers in all, I had not got acquainted with most of the others before, but in the first week, we got familiar with each other and shared information with each other.Undoubtedly, the charm of teamwork made this happen. Also when I encountered a difficult case, I would also turn to the senior members of this school for help and they were always ready to help. Harmonious interpersonal relationship, right ? Good relationship with our colleagues is priceless treasure to us as well as a strong sense of teamwork.Thirdly, English is not just a language but a tool for communication. Therefore, as an English major student , we should never be limited to the study of language , but involve ourselves with knowledge of the other areas. Although I could do very well in English teaching, there were much desire for me to understand the situations provided by my students. However, practice makes perfect. With almost one month practice, I managed to handle the cases well although sometimes need other’s help. Knowledge, like the sea, is boundless, only through hard study cannot reach the destination. It is completely right.Last, it is worthy to observe the importantance of asking question and paying more attention to accumulate experiences at the beginning of our work. As a green hand, it would take me a long time to get familiar with the work if I hadn't ask the colleagues or experienced one for help.The internship was the best way for me to get contact with the society, understand thesociety, serve the society and realize the value of myself. The internship helped me realize a leap from the theory to practice and then return to the theory; it helped enhance my ability in realizing the problems, analyzing the problems and settling down the problems; it helped lay a good foundation for me to enter into the society.Meanwhile, I should arm myself with the knowledge and enrich myself with the books in the future studies, so as to lay a more solid foundation for serving the society. Besides, we should try our best to learn English well as an English major student. From the internship, I deeply realize that English language is so important in English teaching,also the whole world. It has brought people from all cultures and countries together to exchange information. The role that English has played in driving global exchange and reducing the sense of distance between countries is often attached of great importance. With more people on the move today than at any other point in human history, English has increasingly become the most important language in international society. Never give up learning English.IV. Problems and SolutionsOn the whole I can get well with this job now, whereas there exists some problems during this internship period.They are the most complicated and difficult issues. When faced these problems, I would read some books to search information by myself. And sometimes, I would ask others to explain them for me. The best solutions will be written down on my note book. I know it does need some time to get experienced of handling such cases.The school lies in the east part of our city town. Because of the backward in economy, students’ learning habit and base were very poor. And as Chinese education system, most of Chinese students are used to being taught by teachers but not to learn by themselves. Therefore, in the process of teaching, I tried my best to learn how to arouse their interest on English.As we all know that some teachers usually depend on punishment to keep the discipline in class. I had thought about this way but I gave up at last because punishment could do nothing but made the relationship between students and teacher worse and worse so that students may lost their interest on English. My understanding was to create a harmonious and happy study environment so that students were willing to learn actively. When I was lecturing, I encouraged students to ask questions and regarded students as themain part of teaching. Because the English learning process consisted of students’ questions and reading, in an active harmonious and happy environment, students began to learn on their own initiative. Good teaching effect is natural.The other one was the correct expressing of my ideas and requirements. It was embarrassing that I delivered the quotations in an unsuitable way although I conveyed the correct idea. Since Mr. Zhao reviewed my lessons, I could really learn a lot from him. Now I can deliver it naturally and correctly. I’m firmly convinced that I’ll be more and more skilled at this with more practice.This internship has great impact on my future study. Mere curricular study is not enough for a student to apply for a good job. We have to know more. We need to know the teaching more deeply. I need to read more books.According to my internship experience, I am very glad to share the following suggestions with everybody.1. The teacher should teach more practical things rather than the theoretical things. Let’s take grammar for example. We have given the grammar lesson but we are lack of practice. The teacher should teach how to make a sentence to demonstrate how the grammar works.2. Computer skills are of great importance and every l schools have computer skills requirements. We have done a lot of PPTs, Words, but this is far away from the school’s requirements. We also should be taught some other practical tools.3. Attitude is significant and sometimes weighs more than the capability.The teachers should educate their students with this belief from the beginning till the end and make them perfect their work to the best of their abilities.V. ConclusionMy experience at my hometown school is amazing, and it is one that I will certainly never forget. I’ve gained much during the internship period. There is no limit to knowledge. We can learn from life everywhere and every time if we pay attention to it. Most important, I get to know the teaching skills and begin to accumulate the working experience. The internship is a kind of practice for both of my physical and the psychology. It trains my spirit in hard work and perseverance, and also trains my serious and rigorous attitude in studying. Ihave a new recognition to the English learning and re-examine myself during the internship.That successful internship gives me a fantastic experience, which will be most enjoyable and rewarding.。
