But when you finally understand a concept or solve that problem you've been banging your head against, it feels incredible! Like you just scored the winning goal or aced an ultra tough video game level. That feeling of accomplishment is so worth the struggle to get there.When you cheat, you're cheating yourself out of that amazing sense of achievement. You don't get that "A-HA!" moment or that rush of pride for figuring it out on your own. Instead, you just kind of feel...meh. Like you took a shortcut instead of the longer (but way more rewarding) route. Where's the fun in that?Not only are you robbing yourself of that feeling of accomplishment, but you're also missing out on really learning and understanding the math concepts. Maybe you get the right answer this one time because you cheated. But then what happens when you have a test on that same material later on? Or when you move on to more advanced math that builds on what you were supposed to learn here? You'll be completely lost because you don't have a solid foundation. Cheating might getyou through this one assignment, but it's actually making your life so much harder in the long run.There's also the chance you could get caught cheating, and then you'll be in really big trouble! Getting kicked out of school, getting suspended, having to retake a class - those are not fun consequences. Plus your parents and teachers will be super disappointed in you. No one wants to be known as "the cheater kid." That's a label that'll follow you around for a long time.So what should you do instead of cheating when you're struggling with math? First of all, don't be afraid to ask your teacher for help! That's what they're there for. Explain whatyou're having trouble understanding, and ask them to go through some examples with you step-by-step. Your teacher wants you to succeed, so don't be shy or embarrassed.You can also ask your parents, older siblings, or friends for help explaining things in a different way. Sometimes all you need is for someone to walk you through it from a new angle. Or form a study group with classmates so you can work through the tough problems together.There are also tons of awesome free online resources for math, like tutorials, videos, games and practice problems. Just becareful not to use those to look up test or homework answers - use them as tools to actually learn the concepts instead.If you're still getting stuck after trying all of those strategies, here's my best advice: Don't give up! Persistence is key in math. Those concepts won't click overnight, but if you keep working at it day after day, it'll finally start making sense. It's like learning to ride a bike or master a video game - it takes tons of practice, but then one day it all comes together and you've got it down!I know math can be super frustrating, but throwing in the towel and cheating is never the answer.
