It has 1920 x 1080 resolution, adjustable brightness of up to 600 nits, a contrast ratio of 1000:1, and a display area of 72 x 41 inches. An advanced sensor distinguishes true touches from proximal motions of palms and arms, eliminating mis-triggering and false starts. With optical bonding, the PPI by Microsoft 82” Touch Device virtually eliminates parallax issues and exhibits superior brightness and contrast.Figure 1. See the Perceptive Pix el by Microsoft 82” Touch Device mounting guide.Connecting the cables to the deviceYou will need the following parts for this procedure:∙USB cable as shipped∙DVI cable as shipped∙Power cable as shipped∙Ethernet cable (optional; customer supplied)After mounting the device, connect the cables to the device’s center rear underside as follows:1.Insert the dual-link DVI cable into the matching connectors on the device and tighten thethumbscrews. (Although not required, you may want to use a #1 flat head screwdriver totighten the thumbscrews.)2.Insert the B-Type (square) end of the USB cable into the square USB connector on the device,located to the left of the DVI connectors, with the beveled side of the cable connector facing out.3.Insert the CAT5 Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port to the left of the B-Type USB connector.4.Insert the female end of the power cable into the power connector, located to the right of theDVI connectors. It is recommended that you use a surge protector for the AC power input.5.Ignore the four A-Type USB connectors for now. They are used only to charge your optionalPPI by Microsoft Active Stylus. Connection ports from left to right: USB stylus charging, network, USB connectivity, DVI (2), power,and antenna for communicating with stylusConnecting the device and peripherals to the computer You will need the following parts for this procedure:∙Computer meeting system requirements∙PPI 82″ Touch Device with USB and DVI cables connectedConnect the cables to the computer as follows:1.Connect the free end of the DVI cable into the dual-link DVI connection on the computer and tightenthe thumbscrews.2.Connect the free end of the USB cable from the device into any of the USB ports on the computer.Powering on the systemUse the following procedures to apply power to the system.1.If not already on, turn on your surge protector. Start the computer supplying video to the device.2.Turn the power switch next to the power connector to the 1 position.Figure 5. Power switch indicated3.Press the Power button on the lower right (from front) side of the device. An amber light justabove the power button should illuminate. There is also a pair of Brightness up/down buttons, above the power button, for increasing or decreasing the brightness. Finally there is a Source Control button at the top of the button group that toggles between the two DVI connections.See figure 6.4.Press the Source Control button if you have two computers connected and wish to change thecomputer providing the imagery at that time.Figure 6. This service allows certified applications to interact with touches detected on the screen. Note that in addition to a power connection, the device requiresboth a USB and a DVI connection to operate with PPI software. Also note that the device power button and brightness arrow buttons will remember their previous states after the device powers off.2.If the device screen is still blank move the mouse and touch the screen.3.If the device screen is still blank check the computer power.SymptomThe device screen shows image, but the entire device is unresponsive to touch.Suggested actions1.Check device power and connections. An amber power LED indicates power but little or no signal and agreen power LED indicates both power and sufficient signal. Note that in addition to a powerconnection, the device requires both a USB and a DVI connection to operate with PPI software. Alsonote that the device power button and brightness arrow buttons will remember their previous states after the monitor powers off.2.If the device is still unresponsive, go to the Start screen to search for and open the Touch Control Panel.3.In the Sensors tab make sure the system has detected and placed the following entry in the SensorDevices field: PPI by Microsoft 82” Touch Device.Figure 7. If your PPITouch Device is not listed, or you have more than one PPI Touch Device connected to your computer, contact technical support.4.In the Sensor Properties dialog, make sure the following values are present in the Input mappingsection:Map touches to: 1: PPI 82” LCDEnable as a Windows Touch device: selected5.If a portion of the device screen is still unresponsive, click Calibrate and follow the directions on screen.Calibration should be done separately for both pen and touch using a PPI by Microsoft Active Stylus and a finger. For best results, touch the center of each box until each box becomes bright green. You may need to shift your fingertip or stylus slightly to get the crosshair to align with the box. Also, you must wait until the crosshair changes size for a second and then changes color, preferably bright green.If a box turns red, brown, or a dull green you should move on to other boxes and then come back to it to make it bright green. You will have calibrated the device properly when all of the boxes are bright green and the feedback text reads 9 points calibrated, with excellent accuracy.6.If there is still a problem, select the Advanced tab.7.Click the Sensor View… button. This launches a diagnostic tool that gives you information about thetouches on the screen. If you notice anything unusual such as a grid square that doesn’t illuminate when touched, contact support. Your support representative may ask you to describe the information displayed next to your finger touches. Press Esc to exit.Figure 10. For instance, they may ask you about the internal temperature of the device. This information and more is available from a remote connection. From a web browser, you can remotely access status and configuration menus on the device.Use the following steps to gain remote access:1.If you have not already done so, plug the Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on the bottom center ofthe device and plug the other end into the port on the computer.2.Open web browser on the computer.ing the last three digits from your device’s serial number, type in the following web address:http://pixel-XXX, where the XXX represents the last three digits. For example, for a device with 413 as the last three digits, the address for the device would be http://pixel-413. Operating the device in excess of 18 hours per day can impact image quality.Disconnecting the PPI Touch DeviceDisconnect the device by first turning the power switch to the 0 position. Then grasp the female connector and firmly pull the connector from the device. Never disconnect the power cable from the device by pulling the cable.Device repairsDo not open the device enclosure as there are high-voltage components inside. For repair, contact PPI support at /gp/perceptive-pixel or by calling 1 (800) 642-7676. MaintenanceCleaning the PPI Touch DeviceClean the surface and refresh the smooth feel of the device screen with the PPI device cleaner (shipped) and a microfiber cloth. Spray a small amount of the cleaner on the cloth and gently wipe the screen. Do not spray cleaner directly onto the device screen, as any fluid dripping into the enclosure may damage the electronics. Note: Do NOT use abrasive cleaners as they will scratch the surface.Cleaning the exteriorShould it be necessary, clean the external enclosure using the PPI device cleaner the same as you would the touch screen. Take care to prevent the device cleaner from entering the enclosure, as any fluid dripping into the enclosure may damage the electronics.。

一、概述
液晶的发现可追溯到19世纪末,1888年被奥地利植物学家发现。
它是一种在一定温度范围内呈现既不同于固态、液态,又不同于气态的特殊物质态。
既具有所具有的各向异性造成的双折射性,又具有液体所特有的流动性。
一般可分热致液晶和溶致液晶两类。
显示应用领域使用的是热致液晶,温度低了,出现结晶,温度高了,就变成液体。
液晶件(LCD)所标注的存储温度指的就是呈现液晶态的温度范围。
液晶由于它的各向异性而具有电光效应,尤其是具有扭曲向列效应和超扭曲效应,因此,可以制造出不同类型的显示器件,可直接与大规模技术'>集成电路结合开发出一系列具有便携显示功能的。
液晶显示器件诞生至今不过二十多年,产品已经更新了四代。
目前扭曲向列型液晶(TN)即将被淘汰,超扭曲向列型(STN)和有源矩阵型(TFT)已经成熟普及。
铁电型(FELCD)和多稳态型液晶显示(MLCD)开始出现,其产品寿命大约为10,000至15,000个小时。
二、常用分类
液晶显示器件有以下特点:①微功耗;②平板型结构;③被动显示(不怕光冲刷、无眩光,不刺激人眼);④显示信息量大(像素小);⑤易于彩色化(一般使用滤色法和干涉法,使其在色谱上得到准确的复现);⑥无电磁辐射和X射线(利于信息保密,对人体安全);⑦长寿命(液晶背光寿命有限,不过可更换背光部分)。
几种常见液晶类型的原理。
(1)TN(TwistNematic)即扭曲向列型液晶。
将涂有透明导电层的两片基板间夹上一层正介电异向性液晶,液晶分子沿玻璃表面平行排列,排列方向在上下玻璃之间连续扭转90°。
然后上下各加一偏光片,底面加上反光片,基本就构成了TN型液晶。
(2)STN(SuperTN)型液晶,跟TN型结构大体相同,只不过液晶分子扭曲180°,还可以扭曲210°或270°等,特点是电光响应曲线更好,可以适应更多的行列驱动。
(3)TN或STN型液晶,一般是对液晶盒施加电压,达到一定电压值,对行和列进行选择,出现“显示”现象,所以行列数越多,要求驱动电压越高,因此往往TN或STN型液晶要求有较高的正极性驱动电压或较低的副极性电压,也因为如此,TN和STN型液晶难以做成高分辨率的液晶模块。
(4)DSTN(DoubleSTN)液晶,上下屏分别由两个数据通道传送数据,由于很多液晶屏内部增加了驱动的变换部分,所以无需外部输入高驱动电压,通常可以实现单电源供电。
STN(DSTN)液晶只可以实现伪彩色(一般人眼可以分辨218色即262144色,所以达到218色和超过218色的被称之为真彩色,否则称之为伪彩色)显示,可以实现VGA、SVGA等一些较高的分辨率,但由于构成它们的矩阵方式是无源矩阵,每个像素实际上是个无极,容易出现串扰现象,从而不能显示真正的活动图像。
(5)TFT(ThinFilmTransistor)为薄膜有源矩阵液晶显示器件,在每个像素点上设计一个场效应管,这样就容易实现真彩色、高分辨率的液晶显示器件。
现在的TFT型液晶一般都实现了18bit以上的彩色(218色),在分辨率上,已经实现VGA(640×480)、SVGA(800×600)、XGA(1024×768)、SXGA(1280×1024)甚至UXGA(1600×1200)。
液晶显示模块(LCDModule)简称“LCM”,是一种将液晶显示器件、连接件、集成电路、PCB、背光源、结构件装配在一起的组件。
三、选型注意事项
液晶屏的选型包括LCD类型、品牌与价格、供货、分辨率与尺寸、温度与亮度、接口方式等关键指标。
常见液晶分为以下几类:段式、字符型和图形点阵。
段式液晶的每字为8段组成,即8字和一点,只能显示数字和部分字母,如要显示其他少量字符、汉字,需要厂家将所要显示的内容固化在指定的位置。
字符型液晶用于显示字符和数字的,也可用上述方法显示少量字符、汉字。
TN类液晶用于生产字符型液晶模块;STN(DSTN)类液晶模块一般为中小型,既有单色的,也有伪彩色的;TFT类液晶,则从小到大都有,基本上为真彩色显示模块。
除了TFT类液晶外,一般小液晶屏都内置,直接提供MPU接口;而大中液晶屏,要想控制其显示,都需要外加控制器。
动态显示汉字和图形需要选择图形点阵式液晶,如果使用控制(控制能力有限),可选择640×480以下的单色、320×240以下的伪彩色;如果使用PC、IPC,只要有液晶显示部分或外加显示控制,就可选择不带内置控制器的单色、伪彩色和真彩色液晶。
由于LCD的分辨率在物理上是固定的,满屏显示一般只能以其固有的分辨率显示,与CRT不同。
工作温度范围一般指常温(0℃~50℃)或宽温(-20℃~70℃范围以外),很多字符型液晶及小图形点阵液晶有常温型和宽温型的,而大图形点阵的液晶宽温型比较少

亮度单位为cd/m2或叫Nit(尼特),大部分TN、STN(DSTN)液晶的亮度不超过100cd/m2,但是目前比较常用的5~6英寸的伪彩色STN屏的亮度为130cd/m2左右,TFT类液晶的亮度一般为150cd/m2以上。
另外夏普公司的LVM系列投影类产品,其亮度可以高达1000cd/m2以上。
根据笔者调研和查询情况,夏普公司可以提供较为全面的各系列液晶显示平板,并且国内各大代理公司也可以提供与之配套的各种附件(控制接口电路和等)和技术支持,其产品分类可见本文附录。
EPSON公司可以提供针对各类显示屏的图形控制接口,这些芯片可以为开发者提供极大的方便,大大减少了开发周期和代价,并且可以使最终产品具有非常灵活的使用范围。
例如该公司最新推出的SED1354\55\56系列产品,可以使需要显示的数据通过数据总线传送到该芯片,根据寄存器设置,可以驱动包括数字RGB、模拟RGB和普通视频接口的各种显示器件。

四、背光选择
液晶从另一方面又可分为透射式、反射式、半反半透式三类,因为液晶为被动发光型显示器,所以必须有外界光源才会显示,透射式液晶必须加上背景光,反射式液晶需要较强的环境光线,半反半透式液晶要求环境光线较强或加背光。
液晶的背景光通常有三种:LED、EL和CCFL(冷阴极发光)。
冷阴极荧光灯CCFL是采用冷阴极代替钨丝等热阴极的低气压汞、稀有气体放电灯,在强电场的作用下,依靠离子轰击由镍、钽和锆等金属组成的电极来发射,使汞原子激发和电离,形成丰富的253.7nm紫外线和足够的电流,紫外辐射再激发管壁上的荧光粉涂层而发光。
因荧光物质的组成不同,故能发出不同颜色的光。
它具有高亮度、高效率、低能耗、长寿命,以及长时间有效发光等优点。
防震性能好,可重复亮灯熄灭,可在低温下自如启动。
与热阴极型荧光灯相比,发热量低且管径细小,可方便作为各种液晶显示屏的用光源。
字符类液晶一般为LED背光,以黄颜色(红、绿色调)为主。
一般为+4.2V驱动。
LED背光寿命可达10万小时。
单色STN中小点阵液晶,多用LED或EL背光,EL背光具有低功耗、面光源、成型容易、色彩美观等特点,需要交流电驱动,以黄绿色(红、绿、白色调)常见。
是功耗最低的一种背光。
一般用400~800Hz、70~100V的交流驱动,建议使用专业驱动,如:SDEC1003。
中大点阵STN液晶和TFT类液晶,多为冷阴极背光灯管(CCFL/CCFT),需要高压交流电源供电,背光颜色为白色(红、绿、蓝色调)。
300V以上的交流驱动,建议使用日本TDK公司专用逆变电源,如:CXA-L10A、CXA-L10L等。
