Unit 2 What’s the matter? - Period 1
Teaching goals:
1.让学生熟记表示身体部位的单词,能够很熟练地指出这些部位.
2.能够用所学的单词以及句子谈论健康问题。

Important points:
1.Words: head, mouth, ear, eye, nose, tooth, neck, arm, stomach, leg, foot, etc
2.Sentences: What’s the matter?
I have a headache. / He/She has a headache.……

Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Leading in:A riddle
Today, I’m very happy because my good friend Y o Y o comes here. And he brings us an interesting riddle. Can you guess?
“We are father and mother, we have ten children’s, they work together, play together, study together, they can do many things. Everyone has them, what is the mother?”

Hand is a part of the body. Do you know the other parts of the body?
Step 2 Pre-task
1.Show the photo of my friend “Y o Y o”
2.Have students name some parts of the body.
3.Point to Y o Y o,have students say out each part of the body.
Have a competition among students . Have students come to the front and do what I said. If you are wrong, please go back to your seats, the last one who stands at the front is the winner .
Instructions:
Nod your head; Touch your face; Close your eyes;
Touch your ears; Brush your teeth; Touch your nose;
Open your mouth; Raise your arm; Stamp your feet!
Step 3 While-task
1. Look at Y oY o, say “Y oY o, you look tired,why?” Y oY o(T pretends): “I’m not feeling well. I have a cold.”T :”Don’t worry!” then take out a stethophone(听诊器),“Now I’m a doctor. I can help you!” Ok, everybody, what can I say?
S1: What’s the matter?
S2: What’s wrong?
S3: What’s the trouble with you?
S4: What’s your trouble? (T writes one of them on Bb)
2. Have Ss watch the screen , answer T’s questions according to the pictures. What’s the matter? I have a clod/ fever/ headache/toothache/stomachache/backacke/ sore back/ throat.
3. Read them after T.
Step 4 Post-task
1.Guessing game
Have S1 come to the front and imitate an illness. S2 can ask him using “Do you have
a …?”If you’re right, you’ll have a chance to show the other.
2.Role Play: 同桌之间设计一个医生与病人之间的对话.
“Imagine you are a doctor, and your partner is a patient. Try to give your patient some useful advice.”
3.Let’s end with a chant. 《What’s the matter?》
4.Here is an important motto I’ll give you. “Sound in mind, sound in body”. 健全
的精神寓于健康的体魄!So, remember: keep healthy every day!
