• 在中国的传说中，人们相信虎 是极其有力的动物，它们能驱 除家庭的三大灾难：火灾、失 窃和邪恶。虎画经常被挂在墙 上并正对着大门以使恶魔因害 怕而不敢进入。在早期的中国 ，老虎是主要的动物神灵，人 们认为它能驱除旱灾，虎是高 尚威望的象征，在早期的中国 法庭上能见到“回避”、“肃 静”的字样。虎符:虎形的木块 是表示由帝王直接下达的军令 的标志；古代的强盗首领也将 虎皮铺在自己的座位上以显示 自己的至高地位。
中国四灵兽青龙白虎朱雀[凤凰]玄武[龟]老虎也占了 第二名，十二生肖里站第三名，在我国最早的神话《山海 经》里就记载过，老虎也是中华的第二象征。
