Teaching procedures
Step 1 Warming up & Revision
1. Greet the class.
2. Play a Sharp Eyes game to review the words on P25.
3. Make dialogues with the Ss.
When is winter vacation/Father’s Day/ the school trip?

4. Recite the dialogue in Let’s talk together.
Step 2 Presentation & Practice
1. Write the consonants on the blackboard and review their sounds.
2. Finish the sentences according to the pictures.
Wu Yifan is from… Look at the yellow … It’s cute.
I always eat … at school.
My father is a …He teaches maths.
A. Understand the meaning of the pictures.
B. Try to fill in the blanks and complete the sentences.
C. Check the answers and read through the sentences.
3. Check the answers together and then present the words below China, chicken, lunch, teacher and lead to read. Find out the
same points ch /tʃ/.
4. Present the words with sh in the same way.
How many … can you see on the farm?
The … is swimming in the water now.
The … and … are cheap but nice.
5. Read the words sheep, fish, shirt, shorts together and lead to
read. Find out the same points sh /ʃ/.
6. Focus on the words above and give the Ss some time to find the
words with ch /tʃ/ & sh /ʃ/ learnt before.
7. Present the new words with ch /tʃ/ & sh /ʃ/. Help the Ss read
the words correctly.

Step 3 Consolidation & Extension
1. Focus on the sounds of ch /tʃ/ & sh /ʃ/. Then open the books to

Then check the answers for the Ss. Then repeat it one by one.
