2019高考英语一轮阅读理解选练(2)李仕才AA new “smart bin” could mean the end of environment-conscious families spending hours sorting tins, cartons, bottles, and cardboard for recycling. The invention, which can help sort rubbish into recycling categories without needing people to operate. It is being trialed in Poland and is set to go on sale in UK within a few years. The bin, designed by start-up company Bin.E, recognizes different type of waste via a system positioned inside the bin which uses sensors, image recognition and artificial intelligence. Once waste is placed inside, the camera and sensor identify its type and place it in one of the smaller bins. Then it compresses the waste so it occupies less space. It is thought that the bin could be stocked by department stores such as John Lewis, which said it is introducing more new hi-tech recycling bins. Matt Thomas, a buyer at John Lewis, gave us the reason, “We’ve recently seen a jump in specialist bins sales, with a 25 percent increase in the last few months alone. We have noticed our customers are becoming more and more focused on sustainability. In response to this demand, we are really excited to introduce a smart bin this autumn/winterseason-designed to make recycling more efficient and functional for the everyday home."Bin. E’s official release on the market will take place in 2018. However, at first only a larger version designed for offices will be available. The office bin will sell at £ 430 while customers will need to pay a £ 107 subscription fee for an ac companying smartphone app, which hooks them up with collection services. A spokesman at Bin. E said that home version of the bin will be cheaper and will not include a monthly payment. They added: “After the office version, we plan to create an outdoor ver sion and later the home version. We decided to go for the outdoor version for public areas first because it is more difficult to organize an efficient waste segregating system than in our homes.”1.What do we know about about a new “smart bin” from the fir st paragraph?A. It works automatically.B. It has been used widely.C. It is easy to operate.D. It is very expensive.2.What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 2 refer to?A. The waste.B. The camera.C. To make them more famous.4.Where will the first version of new “smart bin” be used according to Bin. E’s official?A. At home.B. In the supermarket.C. In the open air.D. In the office.【文章大意】本文介绍了一款可以智能分类垃圾的“智能垃圾箱”。
阅读理解(科普知识类+健康环保类)七选五+语法填空Ⅰ.阅读理解A(2018·广东深圳新安中学期中)Selfdriving vehicles will rely on cameras, sensors and artificial intelligence(AI) to recognize and respond to road and traffic conditions, but sensing is the most effective for objects and movement in the neighborhood of the vehicle. Not everything important in a car’s environment will be caught by the vehicle’s camera.Another vehicle approaching at high speed on a collision(碰撞)track might not be visible until it’s too late. This is why vehicletovehicle communication is undergoing rapid development. Our research shows that cars will need to be able to chat and cooperate on the road, although the technical challenges are considerable.Applications for vehicletovehicle communication range from vehicles driv ing together in a row,to safety messages about nearby emergency vehicles.Vehicles could alert each other to avoid collisions or share notices about passersby and bicycles. From as far as several hundred metres away, vehicles could exchange messages with one another or receive information from roadside units (RSUs) about nearby incidents or dangerous road conditions through 4G network.A high level of AI seems required for such vehicles, not only to selfdrive from A to B,but also to react intelligently to messages received.Vehicles will need to plan, reason, strategize and adapt in the light of information received in real time and to carry out cooperative behaviours. For example,a group of autonomous vehicles might avoid a route together because of potential risks,or a vehicle could decide to drop someone off earlier due to messages received,a foreseen crowding ahead.Further applications of vehicletovehicle communication are still being researched, including how to perform cooperative behaviour.1.What is the first paragraph mainly about?A.The reasons for the accidents by selfdriving vehicles.B.The research about applications for selfdriving vehicles.C.The importance of artificial intelligence of selfdriving vehicles.D.The reasons for developing communica tion between selfdriving vehicles.2.What does the underlined word “alert” mean in Paragraph 2?A.Alarm.B.Condemn.C.Ignore.ern.3.What can we learn about roadside units (RSUs)?A.They classify the vehicles on the road.B.They can improve bad road conditions.C.They take over the passing vehicles.D.They serve as efficient information stations.4.What is the best title for the text?A.When Do Vehicles Communicate?B.The Reasons Why a High Level of AI Is ImportantC.Vehicletovehicle Communicatio n Is ComingD.What Do Applications for Vehicletovehicle Communication Need?B(2018·陕西宝鸡中学一调)The Crowne Plaza Hotel in Copenhagen is offering a free meal to any guest who is able to produce electricity for the hotel on an exercise bike linked to a Passage 1Over 70 percent of the “double single-child couples”in China need help from their parents in taking care of their own kids, according to a recent survey.Women of China magazine and a consulting company carried out a survey recently on young couples of the “single-child”generation, the Morning Post reports. The couples surveyed were around 29 and have been married for three years on average, with university education and monthly income of 4,000 yuan($531). Among them, 43.5 percent have kids. Results show that 71.9 percent of the young couples have help from their parents in taking care of their kids.Grown up as the “single-child”,the only child in a family since the family planning policy which was adopted in 1979, this generation depends much on their parents. The parents of the “single-child” generation focused more on their children's physical well-being rather than their attitudes and values, according to some psychologists. The research also found that the “double single-child couples” follow a rather traditional value system.Survey shows that 27.5 percent of them got married after dating for one to two years, 25.2 percent two to five years, and 20 percent didn't tie the knot until dating for five years. Also, 30 percent of the couples were schoolmates, while 43.8 percent were introduced bysomeone.Since their marriage is based on enduring relationships, 65.2 percent of the husbands and 62.9 percent of the wives think that compromise(妥协)and tolerance(宽容) are necessary in their marriage. Meanwhile, 21.7 percent of the husbands and 37.1 percent of the wives support the idea that happiness is the key standard for a marriage.【语篇解读】本文主要介绍了让父母照顾孩子的社会现象。
2019 年高考英语阅读理解一轮练(2)ASome years ago, writing in my diary used to be a usual activity. I would return from school and spend the expected half hour recording the day's events, feelings, and impressions in my little blue diary. I did not really need to express my emotions by way of words, but I gained a certain satisfaction from seeing my experiencesforever recorded on paper. After all, isn't accumulating memories a way of preserving the past? When I was thirteen years old, I went on a long journey on foot in a great valley, well equipped with pens, a diary, and a camera. During the trip, I was busy recording every incident, name and place I came across. I felt proud to be spending my timeproductively, dutifully preserving for future generations a detailed descriptionof my travels. On my last night there, I wandered out of my tent, diary in hand. The sky was clear and lit by the glare of the moon, and the walls of the valley looked threatening behind their screen of shadows. I automatically took out my pen...At that point, I understood that nothing I wrote could ever match or replacethe few seconds I allowed myself to experience the dramatic beauty of the valley. All I remembered of the previous few days were the dull characterizations I had set down in my diary. Now, I only write in my diary when I need to write down a special thought orfeeling. I still love to record ideas and quotations that strike me in books, orobservations that are particularly meaningful. I take pictures, but not very oftenonly of objects I find really beautiful. I'm no longer blindly satisfied with having something to remember when I grow old. I realize that life will simply pass me byif I stay behind the camera, busy preserving the present so as to live it inthe future.and notes.I don't want to wake up one day and have nothing but a pile of picturesMaybe I won't have as many exact representations of people and places; maybe I'llforget certain facts, but at least the experiences will always remain inside me.I don't live to make memories--I just live, and the memories form themselves.1.Before the age of thirteen, the author regarded keeping a diary as a way of________.A. observing her school routineB. expressing her satisfactionC. impressing her classmatesD. preserving her history2.What caused a change in the author's understanding of keeping a diary?A.A dull night on the journey.B. Reading Comprehension (共30分)Section A(共22分,每小题2分)Directions: Read the following passages. Each passage is followed by several questions or unfinished statements. For each of them there are four choices marked A, B, C and D. Choose the one that fits best according to the information given in the passage you have just read.(A)Hetty Robinson learnt all about money when very young. As a child, she read the financial pages of the newspaper to her rich father. Her father died when Hetty was 30, and she inherited $1 million. When she herself died in 1916, she left almost $100 million to her two children.Hetty made her money on the New York stock exchange. She was a financial genius. She made money so easily that people called her the Witch of Wall Street. But although she was one of the richest women in the world, she counted every cent and sp ent as little as possible. She didn’t own a house, because she didn’t want to pay property taxes. So she and her children lived in cheap hotels. She spent almost nothing on clothes, and always wore the same long black dress. She washed it herself, but to save soap she only washed the bottom of the dress, where it touched the ground. Other people had their own offices, but Hetty used a desk in the bank where she kept her money, because it didn’t cost anything. She sat in the bank and ate her sandwiches while she bought and sold stocks and shares. If the bank complained, she just moved all her money to another bank.Hetty’s family paid the price for her meanness. When she was 33 she married a millionaire, Edward Green, and they had two children. But Green lost all his money, so she left him. When her son, Ned, injured his knee, Hetty didn’t want to pay for a doctor, so she took him to a free hospital for poor people. Unfortunately the doctor knew Hetty was rich and he asked for money. Hetty refused and took the boy away. His leg got worse and two years later doctors removed it.But eventually Ned got his revenge. At the age of 81 Hetty had an argument with a shop assistant about the price of a bottle of milk. She became so angry that she had a heart attack and d ied. So Hetty’s meanness finally killed her. Ned inherited half his mother’s fortune, and he spent it all on parties, holidays and expensive jewellery.38. What fact can be learned about Hetty Robinson from the passage?A. She came from a poor family.B. She worked for a bank.C. She was nice to her son.D. She died from extreme anger.39. Hetty Robinson was called the Witch of Wall Street mainly because _____.A. she was fond of reading financial pages of the newspaperB. she made a huge fortune easily through stocks and sharesC. she liked wearing the same long black dress every dayD. she turned out to be the richest woman in New York40. Which of the following best describes Hetty Robinson?A. Talented but not generous.B. Wealthy and kind.C. Aggressive but not diligent.D. Curious and lucky.(B)In 2008, a study was conducted in Hong Kong to find out why some people appeared to be better at public speaking. Three hundred people who were employed in jobs that require an advanced level of public speaking skills were interviewed. The participants included politicians, professors and motivational speakers. The results of the study showed that 77% of the participants reported having parents that encouraged them to ask questions and state their opinions from a young age. Eighty-five percent answered that their parents had repeatedly exposed them to a variety of positive “public speaking” experiences at home. These experiences included practicing speeches, performing dramas and reciting poems. In another study to determine the causes of fear of public speaking, 70% of the participants said they had not had any public speaking opportunities at home. Eighteen percent of the participants had been given such opportunities, but these had resulted in a loss of confidence. One of the participants recalled a painful experience from when he was eight years old. His parents had arranged for him to present his school project about earthquakes to his cousins. As an outgoing boy, he was eager to show off all his hard work, until he forgot a sentence and started to stutter (结巴). His cousins began to laugh at him, and instead of his family encouraging him to continue with his presentation, his father told him to call it a day. The stress of this incident and the feeling of being rejected carried over to school, where he started struggling with his words and went red like a sunset every time he had to speak in front of an audience. From these studies, we can see that the way parents handle their child’s communicati on efforts and a child’s future attitude towards public speaking can be linked. Not all people are born afraid of public speaking, but rather they grow to be afraid of it due to awful experiences or outside influences. Yet this does not mean they have no control over their fear—because they do.41. According to the study of 2008, _____ were important in making successful public speakers.A. caring professorsB. high motivationsC. encouraging parentsD. original opinions42. In the 3rd paragraph, the expression “call it a day” most probably means _____.A. stopB. respondC. tryD. relax43. Which of the following might be the best title of the passage?A. How much exposure to public speaking is proper?B. What kinds of jobs require public speaking skills?C. Is public speaking important for children?D. Are people born afraid of public speaking?44. The paragraph following the last might be about _____.A. more experiences of unsuccessful public speakingB. ways to gain self-confidence in public speakingC. other reasons for failure in public speakingD. features of successful public speaking(C)Here is one of the world’s largest indoor ski-slopes. It covers an area of 22,500m2, about the same size as three football fields, and the temperature is a constant -1℃to -2℃. However, the strangest thing about this place is that it’s in the middle of the desert! It’s called Ski Dubai and theoutside temperatures can rise to more than 40℃!It sounds crazy, but it just shows how serious people are about having fun. We spend huge sums on sports facilities. We pay our sports stars ridiculous amounts of money. And we spend hour after hour playing games! I wonder if all the sports-lovers and game-players in the world aren’t a little crazy. I know I am. I was once driving past a football field where some kids were playing. I turned to watch and crashed my car. I know it’s stupid but I can do nothing about it. As someone said, “Football isn’t a matter of life and death. It’s much more important than that!”Of course, it isn’t that important really. No game is. But the problem is that games are addictive(使人上瘾的). From the tennis court to the golf course, you’ll find participants and spectators who can’t live without the drug of their choice. It could be a good thing. After all, despite being addictive, it’s true that sports and games help us to relax. Maybe if it wasn’t for sport, our societies would be more violent. Perhaps sport is a substitute for war? It’s hard to think of a quieter, more peaceful game than chess, and what’s the objective? Capturing your opponent’s king. And surely, it’s better to have wars in athletics stadiums rather than on battlefields. What’s more, playing is natural. Kittens chase balls of wool and puppies pretend to fight. Games help us perfect our skills and prepare us for the serious contest of survival. But do all games help us relax and stay away from violence? What about computer games? A recent article in New Scientist suggests that playing violent video games (and most of them are extremely violent) makes people more aggressive and more likely to commit violent crimes. Are these games a rehearsal (彩排) for life or a substitute for life? Do we play instead of facing up to our real problems? I don’t know. But what I do k now is that I need a break. Something to help me relax. Skiing would be nice. I wonder how much it costs to get to Dubai?45. According to the author, the most surprising thing about Ski Dubai is its _____.A. slopesB. sizeC. locationD. facilities46. The expression “the drug of their choice” in the 3rd paragraph refers to _____.A. the game they are keen onB. the medicine they takeC. the activity good for healthD. the sport in place of war47. Which of the following statements does the author most probably agree with?A. Sports stars should be paid more to play well.B. Sports are more important than life and death.C. Chess is too peaceful to be considered a sport.D. Games can make one relaxed as well as violent.48. What does the author mainly talk about in the passage?A. The relationship between games and crimes.B. Human natural craze for having fun with games.C. Serious concerns about time that is spent on games.D. Real problems facing game players in everyday life.Section B (共8分,每小题2分)Directions:Read the following job ad and complete the sentences that follow. 2019-2020年高二英语测试题:阅读练习2 含答案Learning aim: to improve students’ reading ability一.阅读理解DArchitects have long had the feeling that the places we live in can affect our thoughts, feelings and behaviors. But now scientists are giving this feeling an empirical(经验的,实证的) basis. They are discovering how to design spaces that promote creativity, keep people focused and lead to relaxation.Researches show that aspects of the physical environment can influence creativity. In xx, Joan Meyers-Levy at the University of Minnesota, reported that the height of a room's ceiling affects how people think. Her research indicates that higher ceilings encourage people to think more freely, which may lead them to make more abstract connections. Low ceilings, on the other hand, may inspire a more detailed outlook. In addition to ceiling height, the view afforded by a building may influence an occupant(居住者)'s ability to concentrate. Nancy Wells and her colleagues at Cornell University found in their study that kids who experienced the greatest increase in greenness as a result of a family move made the most gains on a standard test of attention.Using nature to improve focus of attention ought to pay off academically, and it seems to, according to a study led by C. Kenneth Tanner, head of the School Design & Planning Laboratory at the University of Georgia. Tanner and his team found that students in classrooms with unblocked views of at least 50 feet outside the window had higher scores on tests of vocabulary, language arts and maths than did students whose classrooms primarily overlooked roads and parking lots.Recent study on room lighting design suggests than dim(暗淡的) light helps people to loosen up. If that is true generally, keeping the light low during dinner or at parties could increase relaxation. Researchers of Harvard Medical School also discovered that furniture with rounded edges could help visitors relax. So far scientists have focused mainly on public buildings. "We have a very limitednumber of studies, so we're almost looking at the problem through a straw(吸管)," architect David Allison says. "How do you take answers to very specific questions and make broad, generalized use of them? That's what we're all struggling with."68. What does Joan Meyers-Levy focus on in her research?A. Light.B. Ceilings.C. Windows.D. Furniture.69. The passage tells us that ______.A. the shape of furniture may affect people's feelingsB. lower ceilings may help improve students' creativityC. children in a dim classroom may improve their gradesD. students in rooms with unblocked views may feel relaxed70. The underlined sentence in the last paragraph probably means that ______.A. the problem is not approached step by stepB. the researches so far have faults in themselvesC. the problem is too difficult for researchers to detect(发现)D. research in this area is not enough to make generalized patterns71. Which of the following shows the organization of the passage?CP: Central Point P: Point SP: Sub-point(次要点) C: ConclusionENever go into a supermarket hungry! This is a good piece of advice. If you go shopping for food before lunchtime, you’ll probably buy more than you plan to. Unfortunately, however, just this advice isn’t enough for consumers these days. Modern shoppers need an education in how and how not to buy things at the store. First, you check the weekly newspaper ads. Find out the items that are on sale and decide if you really need these things. In other words, don’t buy anything just because it’s cheaper than usual! “New and Improved!” or “All Natural” on the front of a package influence you. Instead, read the list of contents on the back. Third, pare prices, that is, you should examine the prices of both different brands and different sizes of the same brand.Another suggestion for consumers is to buy ordinary items instead of famous brands. Ordinary items in supermarkets e in plain packages. These products are cheaper because producers don’t spend much money on packing or advertising. The quality, however, is usually as good as the quality of well-known name brands. In the same way, in buying clothes, you can often find high quality and low prices in brands that are not famous. Shopping in discount clothing stores can help you save a lot of money. Although these stores aren’t very attractive, and they usually do not have individual dressing rooms, not only are the prices low, but you can often find the same famous brands that you find in high-priced department stores.Wise consumers read magazine ads and watch TV mercials, but they do this with one advantage: knowledge of the psychology behind the ads. In other words, well informed consumers watch for information and check for misinformation. They ask themselves questions: Is the advertiser hiding something in small print at the bottom of the page? Is there any real information in the mercial(商业广告), or is the advertiser simply showing an attractive image? With the answers to these questions, consumers can make a wise choice.72. All the following statements are true about the phrase “ordinary items” inParagraph 2 except ______.A. ordinary products are usually cheaper than famous brandsB. producers spend less money on packaging of ordinary itemsC. ordina ry items never say “New and Improved” or “All Natural”D. the quality of ordinary items is usually as good as that of famous brands73. What does the writer think about ads?A. They are believable.B. They are attractive.C. They are harmful.D. They are helpful.74. One of the author’s suggestions to consumers is ______.A. to make use of advertisements carefully for shoppingB. to buy any ordinary items instead of famous brandsC. to buy high quality items such as famous brands after lunchD. not to buy items with words like “New and Improved” or “All Natural”75. The author implies that ______.A. advertisements sometimes don’t tell the truth to the consumersB. discount clothing stores are only good places to go to for shoppingC. going into the supermarket hungry, you may buy less than you plan toD. the quality of ordinary items is usually high and the prices are relatively low 二.任务型读写(共10小题;每小题1分,满分10分)More than one million school children in the United States have gone through a program called Reading Recovery. The program is for six-year- olds who are struggling to learn to read.Reading Recovery came to the United States in 1984. More than 25% of the United States public schools with first grades are involved in the program. The Reading Recovery method calls for a specially-trained reading teacher to work with children one at a time. The lessons take half an hour each school day. The teachers use reading, writing and the study of the letters of alphabet in the program.Lessons take place for twelve to twenty weeks. During the lessons, the teacher looks for ways that the child seems to learn best. Then the teacher works to help the students develop these strategies to solve to use and apply these strategies eachtime they read.Students read many short books, some of which are written in a way similar to spoken language. Children also read and write stories or messages in their own words. The material gets harder with time. The lessons end when the students’ reading ability is within the average level of the class. The Reading Recovery Council of North America says eighty percent of the students who finish the lessons can read and write within their class average. And more than ninety-nine percent of the Reading Recovery students in the schools have passed the state reading examination. Some people may not like the higher cost of the Reading Recovery method. But supporters say it saves money in the end. They say it helps prevent the sad results and the expense of letting children fail in school.三.书面表达假设你是阳光中学的高中生李华。

Passage 1Over 70 percent of the “double single-child couples” in China need help from their parents in taking care of their own kids, according to a recent survey.Women of China magazine and a consulting company carried out a survey recently on young couples of the “single-child” generation, the Morning Post reports. The couples surveyed were around 29 and have been married for three years on average, with university education and monthly income of 4,000 yuan($531). Among them, 43.5 percent have kids. Results show that 71.9 percent of the young couples have help from their parents in taking care of their kids.Grown up as the “single-child”, the only child in a family since the family planning policy which was adopted in 1979, this generation depends much on their parents. Also, 30 percent of the couples were schoolmates, while 43.8 percent were introduced by someone.Since their marriage is based on enduring relationships, 65.2 percent of the husbands and 62.9 percent of the wives think that compromise(妥协)and tolerance(宽容) are necessary in their marriage. Meanwhile, 21.7 percent of the husbands and 37.1 percent of the wives support the idea that happiness is the key standard for a marriage.【语篇解读】本文主要介绍了让父母照顾孩子的社会现象。

答案:CPassage 2Millions of people pass through the gates of Disney's entertainment parks in California, Florida and Japan each year. What makes these places an almost universal attraction? What makes foreign kings and queens and other important people want to visit these Disney parks? Well, one reason is the way they're treated once they get there. The people at Disney go out of their way to serve their “guests”, as they prefer to call them, and to see that they enjoy themselves. All new employees, from vice presidents to part-time workers, begin their employment by attending Disney University and taking “Traditions 1”. Here, they learn about the company's history, how it is managed and why it is successful. They are shown how each department relates to the whole. All employees are shown how their part is important in making the park a success. After passing “Traditions 1”, the employees go on to more specialized training for their specific jobs. No detail is missed. A simple job like taking tickets requires four eight-hour days of training. When one ticket taker was asked why it took so much training for such a simple, ordinary job, he replied, “What happens if someone wants to know where the restrooms are, when the parade starts or what bus to take back to the campgrounds?...We need to know the answers or where to get them quickly. Our constant aim is to help our guests enjoy the party.”Even Disney's managers get involved in the daily management of the park. Every year, the managers leave their desks and business suits and put on special service clothes. For a full week, the bosses sell hot dogs or ice cream, take tickets or drive the monorail (单轨车), and take up any of the 100 jobs that make the entertainment park come alive. The managers agree that this week helps them to see the company's goals more clearly. All these efforts to serve the public well have made Walt Disney Productions famous. Disney is considered by many as the best mass service provider in America or the world. As one long-time business observer once said, “How Disney treats people, communicates with them, and rewards them, is in my view the very reason for his fifty years of success...I have watched, very carefully and with great respect and admiration, the theory and practice of selling satisfaction and serving millions of people on a daily basis, successfully. It is what Disney does best.”【语篇解读】本文主要介绍了迪斯尼公司通过严格的训练管理和优质的服务吸引了来自世界各地的人们。
