As and like are often confused since they are both used to compare actions or situations. There are, however, important differences.
I worked as a shop assistant for 2 years when I was a student. He used his shoe as a hammer to hang the picture up.2 As adj. as常用来作比较He’s not as tall as his brotherShe ran as fast as she could.3 As用作连词,后接从句He went to Cambridge University, as his father had before him. She’s a talented writer, as most of her family are.4 其他固定用法As you know, classes restart on January 15th.I tried using salt as you suggested but the stain still didn’t come out.As we agreed the company will be split 50/50 between us.Their house is the same as ours. I’ve been working like a dog all afternoon.None of my brothers are much like me.She looks just like her mother.2 Like and As if/As though可用来作比较,三者没有区别You look as if you’ve seen a ghost. You talk as though we’re never going to see each other again. It looks like it’s going to rain.

e.g Mudskippers thrive in intertidal regions that are marked by regular, cyclicalchanges in water levels, adjusting its respiration depending on how muchwater is available.
e.g It is widely known that wind turbinesproduce no pollution and thus cause less environmental damage than do powerplants that burn fossil fuels. 一般情况下我们都会这样写这个句子,注意划线的部分,less environmental damage than power plants that burn fossil fuels do.
e.g In particular, bimodal respiration—the abilityof acquiring oxygen using gills or through wet skin—sets mudskippers apartfrom their purely water-based counterparts.

题⼲关键词:most effective ly combines the two sentencesbest combines the sentences例题⼀:材料:新OG TEST 1部分:SECTION 2题号:13Typically, the ice sheet begins to show evidence of thawing in late summer. This follows several weeks of higher temperatures.Which choice most effective ly combines the two sentences at the underlined portion?A) summer, followingB) summer, and this thawing followsC) summer, and such thawing followsD) summer and this evidence follows答案:A答案解析:这是⼀道很典型的句⼦合并题,正确答案选A。
分析句⼦不难发现,题⽬中的主⼲句是the ice sheet begins to show evidence of thawing in late summer,A选项中,直接在主句后使⽤现在分词短语following several weeks of higher temperatures,在这样的结构中,分词短语与主句之间⽤逗号隔开,此时分词短语在全句中起状语作⽤,相当于是⼀个修饰的成分,因此A选项结构最为简洁,相当于简单句。
