告知不同于通知，书面通知多是单位为了部署工作、传达事情常用的文体，以公告或布告形式贴出，把相关事情通知到相应的人或单位，并张贴在显眼的位置。
书面通知有严格的格式规范。
比较而言，通知行文用词都比较官方化、格式化。
告知多是从个人的角度出发，将自己所知道和了解的事情告诉对方。

通知（Notice）通知属于应用文，它是一种安排活动或布置工作时使用的文体，包括口头通知和书面通知。
口头通知是当面向有关人员口授有关活动的信息，而书面通知是以布告的形式把事情通知给有关人员。
