Unit 2 The Olympic GamesⅠ. A friend asked me if I would join her in a 5k marathon. My first reaction was “What?A 5k marathon? Are you kidding?” I am more of a try-anything-at-least-once kind of girl, even if I end up regretting it later. It sounded like a 5k marathon might have been one of those “regretted it later” things, but it was not!I signed up for the 5k marathon. The marathon benefited a local charity and it meant that you would help a local organization while you had fun. This was a win-win event for me.The 5k marathon seemed fun and it was like nothing I had ever done.We arriv ed early in the morning to line up for the race and there was music from a cool stage.People were throwing colorful balloons around they had purchased and the atmosphere was telling of a fun period. The staff let runners go in waves, groups of about 100 people. Before letting them run, they counted down. You could hear them shouting 10...9...8...So exciting! When we were about to run next,we ended up being in the front row.We were getting pounded with colored powder and loved every second of it.We counted down and ran!I,together with other four kids, didn’t have much time to train. The good news was that I was not alone.A lot of people walked. Some walked fast. Some walked slowly, but they still walked.I felt not so bad after all.The best part was that I became more active and had fun while I was doing it.When we arrived at the destination,we were greeted by staff handing out colored packets. If you are considering getting more active and experiencing a 5k marathon without the pressure of winning, this is the run to sign up for.You will be so glad you did.1.What can we know about the writer?A.She often regrets what she did.B.She doesn’t like taking exercise.C.She likes trying something new.D.She always wants to win a game.2.Why was the 5k marathon a win-win event for the writer?A.She could do a good deed and have fun.B.She could win a prize and get some exercise.C.She could become famous and enjoy herself.D.She could get colorful balloons and have fun.3.The writer didn’t feel so bad during the marathon because.A.she got praise from the staffB.many runners just walked like herC.she didn’t give up an d won first placeD.she ran fast and got a colored packet4.What is the writer’s attitude towards joining the 5k marathon?A.Uncaring.B.Doubtful.C.Favourable.D.Cautious.〚导学号23280034〛Ⅱ.完形填空(2018·吉林一中检测)At 10 am,I was sitting in a large hotel.I got to meet my 1 ,Tony Hawk.I woke up early in the morning.I was excited but also a little 2 .Tony Hawk was considered to be one of the most successful pioneers of modern skateboarding and I had 3 him since I first saw him on television.I left my home 4 what it would be like to meet him.I arrived at Tony’s hotel and 5 two teens.I learntthat they were also Tony’s fans and would attend this interview. 6 ,we had taken part in the same group — the world was small. After a short talk,we started to7 ,going over all the questions we would ask Tony.Shortly after we 8 and organized the most important questions, there was a knock at the door.I started to 9 .I could not get over the 10 that I was about to meet the best skateboarder.Tony Hawk walked in and sat down.I was very nervous11 somehow was able to introduce myself. He was 12 and gave us honest answers to all our questions.Throughout the interview I kept 13 ,wow,he was so cool. Most people in his position might be proud but he was 14 down-to-earth(朴实的).He also told us if we never 15 and worked hard, our dreams would come true. After the interview,he left.He was 16 because he had to attend an important meeting.I was so happy to have had this 17 to interview this great skateboarder, who had got so many 18 in the world.I would never forget this 19 and could not wait to get home and 20 it with my family and friends.1.A.hero B.teacherC.friendD.guide2.A.puzzled B.frightenedC.sadD.nervous3.A.recognized B.admiredC.missedD.called4.A.warning B.doubtingC.wonderingD.proving5.A.watched out B.looked afterC.turned toD.came across6.A.Hopefully B.AmazinglyC.FinallyD.Obviously7.A.leave B.performC.workD.move8.A.picked B.answeredC.threwD.faced9.A.ask B.shoutughD.shake10.A.project B.suggestionC.factD.news11.A.as B.butC.soD.and12.A.friendly B.simpleC.shyD.cold13.A.discussing B.reportin gC.guessingD.thinking14.A.partly B.hardlyC.reallyD.normally15.A.continued on B.gave upC.turned upD.came back16.A.busy B.quietC.lonelyD.stressed17.A.excuse B.reasonC.planD.chance18.A.smiles B.awardsC.friendsD.gifts19.A.game B.ideaC.experienceD.lesson20.A.replace B.shareC.exchangeD.spread〚导学号23280035〛Ⅲ.语篇填空(2018·山东济南外国语学校检测)Dr.Barone has helped many kids smile who were born with defects(缺陷),including me.She did my first two operations when I was a baby, which were the most important and 1. Increasingly, there are jobs for people with higher degrees and hands-on laborers like home health care aides, but more and more of what’s in between can be automate d. Self-driving cars are coming; mini planes will be operated by radio to deliver goods. It is even said that software developers themselves might someday be replaced by the very programs they create. It’s true that software can do more work than human bei ngs used to do.But historically, technological progress has brought more benefits than losses. If you look at the change from an agrarian (农业的) to an industrial society, that’s certainly true. From 1900 to 2000, the proportion (比例) of people working on farms fell from 41% to 2%, yet agricultural output increased and farmers eventually foundjobs in factories. There is a strong argument that the jobs and value technology creates just aren’t being counted properly.People like Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky couldn’t agree more.Founded in 2008 and based in San Francisco, California, Airbnb is a trusted community marketplace for people to list, discover, and book unique accommodations around the world—online or from a mobile phone. His company may have 30 million users and only 1,600 employees, but Chesky says it creates many more “21st century jobs” by helping make extra income for hosts who rent their homes and for local businesses and such service providers as cleaners who benefit from the arrival of vacationers. For New York City alone, Chesky puts the value of that additional income at $257 million annually, which the company claims supports 6,600 jobs.Facing the new economy, people who are smart and well educated may do better. But what about those who aren’t as well positioned? The obvious answer is for government to provide more help through a reformed educational system, workforce training and a social safety net. Some companies are making big private contributions to educational reform, but more will be needed.【语篇解读】本文是议论文。

(1)The main job of the ant queen is laying eggs.
(2)Our work is serving the people.
(1)His victory in the final was no more convincing than I had expected.
(说明性质)(2)With the help of the teacher, the students are practising the idioms.
The news is surprising.
=The news sounds surprising.
The window was broken (has been broken) by Tom.(被动语态,表示动作)这个窗户是Tom打碎的。
The window is broken.(系表结构,表示主语the window所处的状态broken)这个窗户碎了。
It's not my fault.You are mistaken.
The purpose of education is to develop a fine personality in children.
You must speak out, if we are to remain friends.
What am I to do if he can't come on time? 用于被动语态,相当于can/could,should,ought to,must,具有情态意义。
如:You are to be rewarded if you can do it well.
(should)These books are not to be sold.
(ought not to be)5.
They are to marry next week.
(安排)You are not to smoke here.
(禁止)You must be patient and persistent if you are to succeed.
如:She is to blame.
A great deal is yet to do.
All you need to do now is work hard.
The only thing you can do is sleep.

②Good days are________.
③He is________.
④The TV play is________.
The window is opened. The door is locked.【正】The window is open. The door is locked.误点:3.It remains ________(see) whether Jim'll be fit enough to play in the finals.
]4.Tom sounds very much ________(interest) in the job, but I'm not sure whether he can manage it.
]5.The purpose of new technologies is to make life easier, ________(make) it more difficult.答案not to make[本题考查不定式作宾语。
] 6.—Will you go with me?—Yes,________(我愿意).答案I'd like to7.—He is lazy.—No, but________(过去很懒). At the beginning of class, the noise of desks ________(open and close) could be heard outside the classroom.
答案being opened and closed【即时小练】________(compare) with others in the world, he found himself a lucky one.
