Multi-functional M ain AC S witch for rolling stock Type MACSC O M P O N E N TSGENERAL INFORMATIONAPPLICATIONSMACS is a platform for Main AC Switch installed on electric rail vehicles running on AC networks. The AC vacuum Circuit-Breaker (AC VCB), which is the core function of the assembly, can be combined on the same base plate with otherfunctions, such as Earthing Switch (ES), Surge Arrester (SA), Roof Switch (RS), offering the car builders the most modular platform, particularly well adapted to match their different applications and requirements.MACS can be mounted either vertically on the vehicle’s roof of EMUs and Trains as well as inside traction container for locomotives. Another option is horizontally inside Sécheron’s high voltage modular compact enclosure, AC MODBOX ®, to be installed on the roof- or under the frame of trains.MACS is a fully electrically operated circuit-breaker, designed to automatically open through spring release in case the low supply voltage is interrupted. This fail-safe concept is a key safety issue for rolling stock circuit-breakers, equipped with electric or electro-pneumatic operation.MACS platform with its small dimensions and light weight, completed with the compact and modular AC MODBOX®, which integrates MACS in an aluminium housing with other high voltage functions such as current and voltagemeasurements, disconnect switch, filters, transient inductors, is the perfect solution for your rolling stock material running on 15 kV AC or/and 25 kV AC networks.• Switching and protection of main and auxiliary electric circuits for locomotives, trains and EMUs running on 15 kV AC or/and 25 kV AC networks.MAIN FEATURES• Compact multi-functional switch including: AC circuit-breaker, earthing switch (option) and surge arrester (option) on a single support of 940 mm x 430 mm./// AC CIRCUIT -BREAKER• Suitable for 15 kV AC and/or 25 kV AC networks • Conventional free air thermal current: 1000 A• Rated impulse withstand voltage (1.2 / 50 µs): U imp = 125 kV or 170 kV • External creepage distances > 1000 mm • Vacuum interrupter• Electric operation (closing and holding)• Usable in various ranges of ambient temperature from -40 °C to +70 °C (-50 °C to +70 °C in option)• Reference standards: IEC60077-1 /-2 /-4, IEC61373, EN50121-3-2,AC CIRCUIT -BREAKER FOR ROLLING STOCK, TYPE MACS 3MAIN HIGH VOL TAGE CIRCUITSymbol Unit15 kV25 kVAC circuit-breakerRated operational voltageU e [V AC ]17’250 (1)27’500 (1)Rated insulation voltage U i [V AC ]27’500 (1)27’500 (1)Rated operational currentI e [A]1’0001’000Conventional free air thermal current (2)I th [A]1’0001’000Rated operational frequency f [Hz]16.750, 60Operational categoryC3C3Peak short-circuit making currentI MC [kA]6350Rated short-circuit breaking current / % value of the DC component [kA]/%25/5020/50Peak and rated short-time withstand current (1 s)Îcw /I cw [kA]/[kA]63/2563/25Short-time withstand currents 100 msI cw 4040Rated power-frequency withstand voltage (50 Hz, 1 mn)U 50[kV rms ]7575Rated impulse withstand voltage (1.2/50 µs)U imp[kV]125125/170(1)For higher values, please contact Sécheron. • (2) At T amb = +40 °C and tested with high voltage connections according to standard IEC/EN 60943.Earthing switchPeak and rated short-time withstand currentÎcw /I cw /t[kA]/[kA]/[s]63/25/163/25/1LOW VOL TAGE AUXILIARY CIRCUITControl circuit AC circuit-breakerNominal voltage (power supply and control order)U n [V ]24 to 110Range of voltage (power supply and control order)[0.7 - 1.25] U nMaximum power (loading and holding) (3) (4)P max [W]≤ 100Nominal holding power (4)P h [W]≤ 35Opening power[W]0Mechanical opening time (4)T o [ms]≤ 50Mechanical closing time (4)T c [ms]≤ 65Earthing switch (optional electric operation)Nominal voltage U n[V ]24, 32, 36, 48/50, 72, 110Operating power (4)[W]125Commutation time (4)[s]≤ 3(3)Loading time < 12 seconds. • (4) At U n and T amb = + 20 °C.Auxiliary contactsType of contacts (5)Potential free Rated voltage[V DC ]24 to 110Conventional thermal currentI th[A]10Switching categories according to EN60947 (silver contacts)- AC-15 230 V AC 1.0 A - DC-13 110 V DC 0.5 A Minimum let-through current at 24 V DC (6)[mA]≥ 10 (silver contacts) or 4 ≤ I < 10 (gold contacts)(5)Refer to page 6. • (6) For a dry and clean environment.Low voltage interfaceType of connection (7)- AC VCB with or without manual earthing switch 1 Connector: Harting 51 P- AC VCB with electric earthing switch2 Connectors: Harting 51 P + Harting 24 DD(7)Refer to page 7 for mobile connector information.InsulationRated power-frequency withstand voltage (50 Hz, 1 mn)U 50[kV rms ]1.5OPERATING CONDITIONS Installation Indoor or outdoorAltitude[m]< 1400Working ambient temperature T amb[°C]-40 to +70 / -50 to +70HumidityClass 5K2Pollution degreePD4Minimum mechanical durabilityN [Cycles]250’000DATA FOR PRODUCT SELECTIONAC CIRCUIT -BREAKER FOR ROLLING STOCK, TYPE MACS4PRODUCT INTEGRATION388940641013240632011065420420150105114>9404204206 x M12HVHV880320Roof opening and frame dimensionsA (mm)B (mm)Weight (kg)Dimensions without tolerances are indicative.
TSS MAHRS
