主持人：女士们、先生们，我非常荣幸向大家介绍美国第44任总统贝拉克·侯赛因·奥巴马。
奥巴马（美国总统）：谢谢，非常感谢，副总统拜登、首席大法官、美国国会议员，各位尊敬的来宾以及各位国民。每次在总统就职仪式上，我们都见证了我们宪法持久的力量。我们重新讲出对宪法的承诺，无论我们种族背景如何、我们信仰怎样，我们都是美国大家庭的一员。
在两个多世纪之前，我们就已经做出相关的承诺，所有的人生来平等，他们生来就富有别人无法剥夺的权利，他们有自由，也有追寻幸福的权利。今天我们将会继续这样的一个旅程，把这些词语的意义带入现实，历史告诉我们，也许事实非常的明显，但是事实不会无中生有，我们必须是脚踏实地的。我们的爱国者并不是那些有者任何特权的人所争取来的，他们给我们这样的合众国，给我们一个大家共同决定的政府，他们相信每一代人都建立在我
们祖辈所建立的国家基础之上，200多年来，通过流血、战争，我们这样的国家建立在争取人们自由原则基础上，我们实现了重生，而且准备好向前进。
现代的民主国家需要我们建立强大的基础设施，建立强大的学校，培训我的工人，自由的市场，必须保证公平的竞争才能够得以繁荣发展。作为一个整体，我们的国家必须保护弱者，保护我们的国民免受灾难。我们从没有像现在这样凝聚我们的力量，我们也不会屈服于任何挑战，政府不可能单独完成这样的任务，我们要依赖我们的企业、依赖我们勤奋的人民，这是我们性格的根源。
我们一直以来都知道时代转变的时候，我们必须与时俱进，我们需要承担新的责任，应对新的挑战，为了保证个人的自由，我们必须要共同行动，对于美国人来说，他们不可能单独行动，以保护他们的自由，就好像我们的士兵不能单独行动一样，没有一个单独的人可以培训美国的科学家，可以保证美国孩子们的未来，不可能把我们的工作保护在我们的国土内，这不是一个人能够做到的事情，我们必须作为一个国家、作为一个整体、作为一个民族共同实现这些目标。
这一代美国人受到了很多危机的挑战，而展现出他们强硬的意志，我们已经结束了持续十年的战争，经济的复苏正在开始，美国的前景是前所未有的，因为我们证实我们的年轻人，我们有多元的文化，我们有着强大的能力应对风险、应对挑战，我的美国人们，我们将会迎接挑战，只要我们共同面对挑战，我们就能够应对这些挑战。

我们美国人民仍然相信我们的责任不仅仅限于我们自己，而且要扩展到全世界，我们将会应对气候变化的挑战，我们知道如果不这样的话，我们的子孙后代将会因此而受到惩罚。有的人仍在否认气候变化，但是他们也看到了火灾以及风灾，还有旱灾的威力，持续的能源来源，找到这样来源的决定也许非常的艰难，但是我们必须起到领导的作用，我们不能够落后于其他的国家，新的能源将会带来更多的就业，我们必须保住我们承诺，这将会加强我们经济的活力，可以使我们应对更多的挑战，获得新的能源来源，这也是我们保护我们的地球的方法，这将会使我们先辈所创建国土的一个承诺之一，我们美国人民仍然相信加强安全和持续的和平将会减少战争的发生。
