ury, the world economy underwent a revolution driven by information technology and the Internet. Many developed countries have pumped a large amount of capital into the information sector to seek solutions. In China, industrialization has not yet been fully realized and most companies are operating at a pretty low level of technology and management efficiency. Informatization is at an early age and information flows tend to be blocked, and also inaccurate. At present, most companies in China, in particular the China’s state-owned enterprises (SOEs), have retained traditional managerial styles and the organization, management and flow of information cannot keep pace with the demands of the market economy, thus hindering economic restructuring and further development. Massive efforts should be made to restructure China’s large and medium-sized SOEs by relying on information technology, particularly when the trade barriers protecting China’s native industry are tumbling down in line with its WTO membership.
