In order to improve students’ ability to speak English and enrich their spare time, the Students’ Union of Department of English is to organize a school -wide English-speaking contest, which is to be held on Friday next week at the Students’ Recreational Center. Those who are interested in taking part in it are supposed to sign up with the monitor of their classes before this Sunday. Some overseas teachers will be invited to be the judges. The previous couple of years has witnessed the prevalence of a noteworthy social phenomenon ---- an increasing number of people/youngsters are crazy about learning online. It should be noted that such happenings have already been brought into public concern and we can easily find bulk of relevant discussions among the mass media. Obviously this is an issue that prudent people are not only interested in, but also hold opinion about.
The past couple of years has witnessed the growing incidents of a noteworthy social phenomenon ---- trust is difficult to build yet easy to destroy . It should be observed that similar happenings are so widespread that a great deal of attention is being paid today to such a trend. We can easily find bulk of relevant discussions all over the newspapers, TV shows, and even the worldwide web. Obviously this is an issue that prudent people are not only interested in, but also hold opinion about.
Nowadays, people/youngsters in mounting numbers are very much concerned about the phenomenon/problem that …………………………………. Indeed, the previous few years has seen the growing incidence of such happenings. It ’s so prevalent that a great deal of attention is being paid today to such an upsetting trend.

19 What is subtly portrayed in the above illustration is that a father is talking to his daughter, with the dialogue/behavior thought-provoking. As can be apparently seen in it, when asked/hearing how her school was today, the daughter told her father that all about it was in her blog. However simple the given drawing may appear at first sight, its implication goes undoubtedly far-reaching: the internet has exerted significant influence on interpersonal communications.

When it comes to Abraham Lincoln’s famous /renowned/well-known observation/saying/ remark ----- “It takes years to build trust, and a few seconds to destroy it.” ----- a heated discussion may come up among the general public. While the vast majority of people tend to hold that trust should be maintained deliberately, still others seem to contend that we don’t have to spend too much time on trust maintenance. I am strongly convinced that trust is one of the most important relationships among people and thus deserves sustained attention.

As is evidently illustrated in the figures offered in the above chart/graph/table, the unemployment rate is in opposite proportion to the level of education ----- the higher the degree, the lower the unemployment rate. As can be apparently seen from this chart/graph/table, the unemployment rate is 1.9% for those with a doctoral degree, while it is 14.9% for those without even a high school diploma. （描述表格中的趋势、数字变化）
The given line graph subtly presents America ns’ saving and debt as a percentage of their disposable income between 2002 and 2013. In general, the figures reveal that Americans total debt increased dramatically while savings decreased greatly during that period of time. Illustrated in it is that the total debt to disposable income remained at about 56% stably from 2002 to 2005. However, it jumped sharply from 2005 to 2013 when it reached the peak of 101%. On the contrary, the savings to income fell rapidly between 2002 and 2007, and then it leveled off until 2010 when there came another steep decrease. In 2013, it bottomed out to 2%. The given pie chart conspicuously features the proportion of the meat sold in a supermarket. The total meat sold can be classified into six types as follows: chicken, pork, beef, lamb, fish and others. In general, chicken, which accounts for 40%, has the largest proportion, while others has the smallest percentage, at 2%. Illustrated in it is that chicken is the most popular among the total meat sold with 40%, and then next is pork, which makes up 20%, followed by beef, constituting 18%, and finally come lamb, fish and others at 15%, 5% and 2% respectively.

Being accustomed to staying up late every night, many students still take dozing off at class in the morning for granted. To save the situation from further aggravating, I would like to suggest as follows. The leadership of our university could launch a schoolwide campaign to help improve our physical conditions.
