作为一所新建的九年一贯制学校, 宁波江北外国语学校的设计将传统中小学不同区域间的水平向联系转化到垂直方向，借由采用全中央空调的难得契机, 尝试一种新的校园空间关系，营造出弥散的公共性。
The Jiangbei Foreign Language School project is a straight nine-year
public school. The design brings in the idea of vertical campus space
allocations basing on the overall application of central
air-conditioning, which is an innovation from the traditional horizontal
allocations of elementary and secondary schools.
The judging will be based on Overall Excellence , Use of Technology ,
Impact in Asia , as well as Commercial and Societal Success. Please
provide relevant information as much as you can. Please complete

Overall Excellence (Max. 200 words)
在宁波江北外国语学校中，全中央空调的使用意味着全天候的室内公共活动成为可能，意味着需要降低与外界的能量交换而把关注的中心移向内部，意味着鼓励更为复杂和经常性的室内交流。于是校园成为一个完整的建筑而并非聚落，进一步加强了所谓公共空间的“公共性”。在此基础上采用 “三明治”策略，将公共教室和空间夹于上下两层普通教室之间，保证在垂直方向上任何一点都可以与公共空间相邻，不同于平面分区的做法，这使在校园的所有区域都能强烈地感受到公共性的存在。
An outstanding feature of the Jiangbei Foreign Language School project
is its overall application of central air-conditioning. This makes
all-day indoor activity possible. Thus more attention should be paid to
the inside of the building while energy exchange with the outside world
is lessened, and more complex and constant indoor communications be
encouraged. Therefore the campus becomes an integrate building instead
of a gathering place and publicity of the public space is emphasized. Under
this circumstance, the design adopts an innovative “sandwich” strategy
and divides the space into three layers- the layer of common classrooms
and public space sandwiched by two layers of normal classrooms. Different
from the traditional planar space allocation, this three-layer space
allocation conveys a sense of intimacy between the normal classrooms and
the public space in vertical ways.

作为宁波目前最有特色的九年一贯制校园，宁波江北外国语学校创造了一种新的校园空间模式，采用“三明治”的策略，在传统的书院空间的影响下构筑了面向内部的公共性，同时对于地域性和现代性做出了具有创新性的回应。目前其已经在宁波和江浙地区成为一个范本，但其影响力更大程度上来源于可以预计的将来，通过空调等设备变革而对校园空间所带来的模式上的变革将成为新一代的中小学校园设计的一个重要方向，同时影响了对亚洲校园文化如何对待传统和地域这样一个重要命题的思考。
Known as the most distinctive straight nine-year public school in Ningbo,
Jiangbei Foreign Language School presents a new style of campus space
allocation. Its design adopts a “sandwich” strategy which emphasizes
on publicity inside the building while respecting the traditional space
allocation method. Innovation is achieved by exploiting the opportunity
of facility revolutions like the air-conditioning system. It has stood
out as a good model in Ningbo city and Zhejiang Province, and would lead
the future school designing trend. It also impacts the view toward
tradition and region in Asian campus.

经济性，采用全中央空调与地源热泵等节能建筑设计手法融入校园建筑中，大大提高了校园建筑的能源运用与节能控制。
1. Economy. Energy conservation practices like the overall application
of central air-conditioning and the introduction of ground source heat
pump are integrated into the design of school buildings to enhance their
energy efficiency.

社会性，学校作为宁波著名的惠贞书院教育集团的成员，希望继承惠贞的书院传统。传统书院的讲、学、藏、礼的功能在这里被解构和转化，层层递进的院落空间得以保留和重组，中轴对称的格局被用一种较为含蓄的方式使用，事实上，书院意味着一个社区，在与学院相比较的时候，书院更多地强调学生之间的思想交流与相互促进，共同生活成为求学问道的重要载体，而空间也服务于这样的需求。这样产生的校园新形势更倾向与书院形式，公共性更加突出。
2. Sociality. Affiliated to the celebrated Huizhen Education Group, the
project aims to keep to its academic tradition. It keeps to and develops
functions of traditional academies, including teach, study, collect books
and teach manners. Layers of courtyards are preserved while the ax symmetric layout is inherited in an implicit way. An academy is a community.
It differentiates from a college on its emphasis on students’
communications and mutual improvement by living together. The layout of
the project is designed to suit to this purpose, thus the campus is more
academy like and highlights publicity.
