Many people tend to think of globalization as a modern phenomenon. However, in reality, trade
has been strengthening the economic connections between far‐flung nations for thousands of
years.
More than two thousand years ago, the diligent and courageous people of Eurasia explored and
opened up several routes of trade and cultural exchanges that linked the major civilizations of
Asia, Africa and Europe. These routes were collectively called the Silk Road by later generations.
