Effects of nonverbal communication in intercultural communication
Now the world exchanges between countries are becoming more and more
frequent, cooperative relations between countries are more and more widely and
deeply. In the cross-cultural communication, nonverbal communication plays a huge
role. But because of the cultural differences between each country and nation, the
non-verbal communication are given different meanings in different cultures, let
people encountered great difficulties in the process of communication.
Non-verbal communication includes: body language, paralanguage, object
language, environmental language.
For example: When people welcome someone will smile and held out his hand,
expressed dissatisfaction with the usually frowned, shaking his head, when you want
to tell each other to want the thing on the table will point to the table. But sometimes
the nonverbal message is the negation of the language behavior. For example: A man
is frightened but pretend to be easily say "nothing, nothing," but was trembling, voice
trembling.
In the non - language communication should pay attention to the following: first,
the same behavior represented in different cultures have different meanings. For
example: When people see a child likes to pat a child's head with the hands gently. In
the Chinese view,It mean close and caress to children, and the Western women do
not think so, and it makes them feel uncomfortable, because in their own culture, this
behavior is rude, is the cause of the other great Anti Sense and disgust. Second, the
same meaning in different culture, different behavior. For example: don't know,

culture.
Nonverbal communication in the field, as in the language communication,
culture plays an important role in the domination, the same gesture may have totally

non-verbal communication and not combined with the cultural understanding, then it

for the cultural differences in nonverbal communication has a more profound
understanding, in order to ensure the success of communication. "Culture and the vast

Nonverbal communication plays a huge role in cross-cultural communication,
and culture of nonverbal communication has play a decisive role role. Therefore, in
order to realize the nonverbal communication and cross-cultural communication
successfully, avoid the occurrence of conflict, to enhance the cultural understanding is
the key, we can observe the following principles: first, understand the nonverbal
behavior in this culture, then can understand nonverbal behavior in other cultures.
Second, as far as possible, more accumulation of cross-cultural non-verbal behavior
knowledge. Third, according to their own actual situation, actively understand other
national the culture and nonverbal communication.
