Learning English
Chinese students often meet some problems at the beginning of learning English. Some of them think that English is too difficult to learn. So they lose confidence and even give up learning. What a pity! The following ideas may be good for you.
Reading is the most important for Chinese students to learn English. The more you read, the more you get. To improve your English, it is necessary for you to learn English words, phrases, idioms and sentence
patterns by heart. The best way of it is reading more. However, you should choose suitable passage to read, not too hard but interesting. When you meet new words, don’t feel bored, just try your best to think them over, understand and remember them. Sometimes a dictionary would help you. The more words you have got, the easier English becomes.
If you have a problem with speaking, you should listen to English as much as possible, learn more dialogues, recite some interesting passages and practice speaking with your friends as much as you can.
Many students find it difficult to listen to English. The answer is to listen as much as you can. It’s better to practice listening for 10 minutes at one time. Don’t sit down and listen for an hour at a time. That’s too much. Do choose easy and interesting listening passages and the tapes on which the people speak clearly and not too fast. Take it easy at first. Success with simple tapes at the beginning is the better way.
How can you learn to write well? How do you use little words like in, on, of and for? First, do more practice with new words and verb phrases, such as look at, look for, look after and so on. Finally, read more, then you are able to use them correctly.
Please remember, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.”。
