题目:大学教育与个人的成功的关系 正文: As is well-known that university is a place where we can not only gain knowledge, but also improve our qualities. Nevertheless, nowadays there is a growing concern over the university education, that is one can not acquire the ingredients of success in universities. Obviously, it may be some sort of extreme.

Those who doubt the quality of universities argue that one can not acquire the necessary elements of success on campus. For one thing, what students learn on campus can not keep pace with the society, hence making it could hardly gain ground in society. For another, they claim that the reason why collective wisdom of a qualified, experienced and responsible teaching staff on campus is in short supply in recent years is because of lacking excellent teaching faculty, thus decreasing students' study enthusiasm.

However, from my perspective, I do not think the argument above can bear much analysis. In the first place, the fact that systematic education and a well-designed teaching curriculum which offer a solid foundation for students to gain an upper hand at the very beginning of building their own career have been scientifically arranged will no doubt benefit the students. Secondly, it is the enthusiastic and joyful learning environment that enables one to achieve his or her self-betterment and self-realization, helping the formation of a good personality for a student, making him or her more competitive, cooperative, creative and communicative. Besides, enormous resources are provided in universities, such as laboratories, computer centers and libraries, etc. Last but not least, a university is said to be a miniature society where students can not only take part in various activities, but also cultivate friendship and acquire the interpersonal skills.

To sum up, I believe that the bias attributed to the college education is greatly exaggerated. Although some people are aware of the negative effects of the college education, it brings more benefits in reference to its demerits. In a word, I hold the view that college education is the necessary factor of one's development and success.

To become successful is a universal aspiration. Is having a college education the most important factor in a person's success? I believe generally speaking , college education is an important factor instead of the most important one. On the one hand , generally speaking , a college education palys an important role in one's success. For starters, in colleges or universities, students can learn advanced knowledges and skills which can prepare them for future professions. For example, if a person wants to become a lawyer or a doctor or a business leader, s/he must go to college or universtiy to receive the necessary education and training. Second, students can learn many other important qualities or skills to be successful in colleges or universities. Universties and colleges offer a wider range of extracurricular activities, which teach students leaderships and communication skills. Third, students can meet people of diverse backgrounds. Unlike high schools, whose students population are more localized and homogeneous, universtiy students come from all parts of the country or even world. Thus, students can widen thier circles. It is known that powerful alumni can give a big help to a person's career. The two cofounders of Google.com were college roommates. And Bill Gates made the acquaintance of Steve Ballmer, who became the CEO of Microsoft later,in Harvard. While college education palys a positive role in most people's success, it does not fowllow that it is the most important factor in success. For one thing, some times college education can have negative effects on students in some aspects. It is known that college graduates lack practical experiences compared with their high school graduats peers. For another thing, compared with college education, other factor palys a no less or even greater role in a person's success . Many great men and women , for instance, Marie Curie & Abraham Lincoln , had not attended colleges. Many other dropped out colleges or universties. Bill Gates dropped out Harvard. Steven Jobs dropped out reed universtiy after only one semester.
