Unit4 Language points in reading 导学案 March 17, 2014 1.What it was to become（主语从句） was uncertain until between 4.5 and 3.8 billion years ago when the dust settled into a solid globe（定语从句） . 它（地球）将成为什么样子一直是个谜，直到45-38亿年以前这些尘埃凝聚成一个固体球体。 1) be to do sth. 表示按计划或安排要做的事或者命运（即命中注定要发生的事) 。 eg.你什么时候回家.____________________________________ 2) not until直到……才;直到……之前(……还不) eg. 等到下课再讲话。 ______________________________ 2.The earth became so violent that it was not clear whether the shape would last or not. （it 形式主语）地球（开始）变得激烈动荡，不知道这个形状是否会继续存在下去。 真正的主语是主语从句whether the shape would last or not。 为了避免主语显得过长,可以用it作为句子的主语,把主语从句移到句子的末尾。。 eg. It is well-known that we are good at English! 众所周知，我们擅长英语。
