To be a small fish in a big pond or a big fish in a small pond

With the remarkable development of the technology, most

countries in the world are becoming more compatible with

each other. The world is prone to a "global village".

Tanks to this evolution, big companies appeared. However,

there are still many small companies. When it comes to the

problem of "a small fish in a big pond or a big fish in a small

pond", a lot of things can be under discussion.

There is no denying that in a big enterprise, there are

enormous challenges and opportunities. The traits of it are as

standard management system, clear division of labor and

complex relationship. As an ordinary staff of a big firm, you are

likely to focus on an aspect, and it seems to very boring. And

there is little possibility to change your way of work. Moreover,

it is harder for you to get promoted there for the large number

of employees. However, you are able to meet all sorts of

people and it does widen your horizon. In other words, it is the

challenge itself that makes you perfect.

By contrast, the features of a minor company, where there are

fewer employees, are flexible management system, short-term

goals and simple relationship. Admittedly, you may take on

more responsibilities at the same time. Without doubt, it is

more tiring but more interesting, especially for those individuals

who are competent and eager for freshness. What’s more, it

develops your sense of competition and cooperation to

some extent. Also, it is easier for you to stand out. You may be

a big fish in a small pond.

From my point of view, I may prefer the latter one subjectively.

But I'd like to be devoted to the former one if I have the chance

to do it. The former is of difficulty but broader and the latter is

more limited but interesting. Therefore, they do go halves in my

eyes. In other words, the choice between "a small fish in big

pond" and "a big fish in a small pond" has no absolute answer,

it's all up to yourself.

Whereas, only if you go all out wherever you are, can you

make it.
