一、下面我们来看看left有几种含义

1.准假;休假 period of time when you are allowed to be away
from work for a holiday / vacation or for a special reason
Going on leave, he devolved his duties on his deputy.
他休假前把职责移交给副手。
2.许可，同意 official permission to do sth
She has my leave to see him.
她得到我的许可去看他。
3.辞别
to say goodbye
She took leave of her mother, and caught the train to Beijing.

(2)把…随便乱放

(1)忘带/留下/丢弃某事
Don't leave me behind.不要把我忘了。
He left his wife and children behind.他抛下了妻子儿女。
主语+谓语+be+left behind
The luggage has been left behind.
忘了带行李。
In their withdrawal, much of the heavy equipment had to be left behind.

(2)使某人落后；把某人丢在后面leave sb/sth behind
The young athlete soon left the others far behind.

leave,“留下”还是“离开”?

汉语中“离开”与“留下”是意义截然相反的两个词，可是在英语中我们却可以用leave一个单词来表达，这是颇为有趣的。那这个词究竟怎样用呢？请看下面一段师生对话。
学生：老师，最近我看到了一条谚语：Rats leave a sinking ship. 有人翻译成“船沉鼠先窜。”可是，为什么不能翻译成“老鼠留下了一条沉船”呢？
老师：问得很好。leave这个词意思比较多，用法也很复杂。在这条谚语中leave字面上应该翻译成“离开”，作及物动词用。
学生：嗯，也就是说leave作及物动词，既有“离开”的意思，又有“留下”的意思。
老师：明白了？那你再看看这句话：I have to leave it as it is. 它是什么意思？
学生：可以翻译成“我只好随它去了”吗？
老师：意译得很棒，这里leave就是“留下”之意。但有时这层意思更强调“丢下，落下”，常表示“某物落在/忘在某地”。如：I left my key in the reading room. 我把钥匙落在阅览室了。
学生：我想起来了，您开学时曾告诫我们：Never leave that until tomorrow, which you can
do today. 意思就是“今天的事情不要拖到明天。”
老师：对的。今天的事情不能拖到明天做！以上只是leave这个词的基本用法，在我们高中阶段，这个词还会“变脸”了。你看看下面这几个句子：
