Reflection #2
In this part, it talks a lot about the history of the books. Beatty told him
every fireman will attract by the books that they had burned, so it is not weird that a
fireman takes the book home and reads the book. Although he does not know
Montagactually takes the books home, he can still confirm from Montag’s face and
attitude. Beatty acts like an experienced man and tells a lot to Montag. However, he
teaches Montag some wrong staff. It’s like something that we need to figure out by
ourselves in this society. We should not only see the surface meaning of something,
but also we need think the benefits of that to us. As a result, Montag decides to read
all the books instead of burning them. He wants to figure out what is in the book and
how does it affect to human. However, his wife strongly disagrees that he wants to
read book. She would rather watch “family” than reads that “useless” books. It is
virtual role-play in this family. In addition, Montag is the 1st person that wants to ask
the questions about book (it seems like it).
Furthermore, Mildread always reacts slowly when Montag is calling her. She is
really influenced a lot by the TV. Therefore, Montag has to turn the sound off before
he needs to talk with her. It like one night, Montag asks her does she still remembers
when they met, but she does not answer, because of the ear phone… Of course, she
cannot remember that “important” thing, because what she can remember is TV. She
still thinks the woman that is dead in fire is evil. People should not save her, because
these people that want to save the book should be dead. She thinks their thought is
like the old clock. It should be fixed or broken by the hammer.
In conclusion, the story wants to tell us we should have our own thought of
something. Although it may be wrong, we are response to ourselves. We will not
repent in later years. It’s like what Beatty said:” it’s normal to sick once.” We are
normal people, everyone will confuse once in their life. The point is how we could
make up the mind to deal with it.
