以下是历年真题中的一道例题及其答案:Passage 1:Among British academics, Sweden has long been regarded as a land of milk and honey, where you will find well-funded, large student numbers, supportive administrative staff and an agreeable teaching load. However, more than half of Sweden's Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) are feeling the strain and some are at the point of collapse. While the underlying cause may be the same as in the UK - more students than ever before and fewer resources - it is the Swedish government's decision to support this expansion by increasing the number of degree-awarding powers that has been fatal. In the name of choice and diversity, a policy that originated in the 1990s to weaken the monopolies of the old university totalitarian regimes has led to the mushrooming of new independents offering education in every field and corner of the country. Many of these new institutions were desperately under-funded, and student quality was highly variable. This allowed the elites, who took the initiative to create them, a chance to rig the game by appointing their friends and cronies to committees, which then awarded themselves degree-awarding powers. The Swedish government was in such a hurry to create the sense of greater choice that it was blind to these developments. It stupidly believed that this led to diversity, research excellence and a more flexible workforce, when all it has really meant is that many institutions now face a rapid decline in reputation and resources.Question 1:What is the main cause of the crisis faced by Swedish HEIs according to the passage?A. Lack of resources.B. Increased student numbers.C. Poor quality of students.D. The government's policy choices.答案:D. The government's policy choices.【二、完形填空】完形填空是英语二考试的另一个重要部分。

自考英语真题训练:阅读理解专项练习及答案
阅读理解专项练习:
In recent years many companies of the world have been faced with the problem of
how to make their workers more productive. Some experts claim the answer is to make jobs
more varied. But do more varied jobs lead to greater productivity? There is evidence
to suggest that while variety certainly makes the worker’s life more enjoyable, it does
not actually make him work harder. As far as increasing productivity is concerned,
variety is not an important factor.
Other experts feel that giving the worker freedom to do his job in his own way
is important and there is no doubt that this is true. The problem is that this kind of
freedom cannot easily be given in the modern factory with its complicated machines which
must be used in a fixed way. Thus while freedom of choice may be important, there is
usually very little that can be done to create it. Another important consideration is
how much each worker contributes to the product he is making. In most factories the worker
sees only one small part of the product. Some car factories are now experimenting with
having many small production lines rather than one large one, so that each worker
contributes more to the production of the cars on his line. It would seem that not only
is the degree of workers’ contribution an important factor, therefore, but it is also
one we can do something about.
To what extent does more money lead to greater productivity? The workers themselves
certainly think this is important. But perhaps they want more money only because the
work they do is so boring. Money just lets them enjoy their spare time more. A similar
argument may explain demands for shorter working hours. Perhaps if we succeed in making
their jobs more interesting, they will neither want more money, nor will shorter working
hours be so important to them.
21. According to the writer, variety enables a worker to _____.
A. undertake greater responsibilities
B. work in his own way more freely
C. fulfill his job requirements better
D. derive more enjoyment from life
22. The passage is mainly about how to ____.
A. ensure workers’ right of choice
B. meet worker’s need for variety
C. promote workers’ competition
D. improve workers’ performance
23. It can be inferred from the passage that, compared with large production lines,
smaller ones give workers ____.
A. a clearer picture of essential factors
B. a stronger sense of accomplishment
C. a greater variety of interesting tasks
D.a better idea of the modern industry
24. According to the writer, higher pay can ____.
A. make up for longer working hours
B.make tiring work more interesting
C. help workers to live more happily
D. help to create greater productivity
25. We learn from the passage that freedom of choice ____.
A. can hardly function in a flexible manner
B. is hardly available in the modern factory
C. is hardly seen as effective by companies
D. can hardly lead to increased productivity
答案:21-25:CDBCA
