Kelly and her mother are in a cafe. They want to order some
takeaway food. They are reading the order form.
Listen to what Kelly and her mother say. The conversation will
be played two times. When you hear a beep (beep),
blacken the circle next to the best answer. You have 10
seconds to look at the order form. (10-second pause)
The conversation will begin now.
[Kelly: I am hungry, Mum.
Mum: Here is the order form. What do you want to have?
Kelly: I want to have some noodles. How much is a plate of
noodles?
Mum: Let me see. It is twenty-five dollars. (beep) (10-second pause)
Kelly: Can we have one?
Mum: Sure. Do you want some salad, too?
Kelly: Yes!
Mum: Which one do you want, fruit salad or chicken salad? Kelly: How much are they?
Mum: Chicken salad is thirty-seven dollars. (beep) (10-second pause) Fruit salad is twenty dollars and fifty cents. (beep)
(10-second pause)
Kelly: Let’s order a box of fruit salad. Dad likes fruit.
Mum: Ha! Ha! You are right. He likes fruit. Let’s order a carton of orange juice for him, too. I want a carton of lemon tea. How
much are they, Kelly?
Kelly: A carton of orange juice is twelve dollars and fifty cents.
(beep) (10-second pause) A carton of lemon tea is nine
dollars and ninety cents. (beep) (10-second pause)
Mum: OK. Let me have a piece of cake as well. It is twenty-four dollars and sixty cents. (beep) (10-second pause)] Narrator: Listen to the conversation again and check your answers.
