在比较级方面，当形容词以“e”结尾时，直接在末尾加“r”即可；以“y”结尾的则变成“i”，再加“er”；以辅音字母+y结尾的，则变成“i”，再加“er”。

最高级则通常在末尾加上“est”，但以“y”结尾的要变成“i”，再加“est”。

例如：Tina is taller than her sister. （Tina比她的妹妹高。

）Lisa is the tallest girl in the class.（Lisa是班级里最高的女孩。

）当形容词和副词单音节时，则在末尾加“er”和“est”形成比较级和最高级。

例如：That car is faster than this one.（那辆车比这辆车快。
