It's Not What You Do, It’s How You Got There
When strangers meet, they say“what do you do?” Do you
wish to be asked such a question to define you? Some people
don’t care, saying it’s all right to ask the question. Some say that
what you do doesn’t totally show people’s character and moral.
It’s better to ask “how did you come to do what you do? ” or
“how did you get there? ”
No doubt, a lot of people are unempoyed. It’s also not
surprising that we don’t all become what we want to be, entering
into a different career world.
In general, we are willing to choose what we do. In fact,
not all people can choose what we do for a living, having it
choose us. The salesman says that he wanted to be a doctor but
was not entered into the medicine academy. Some people don’t
do what they were eager to do. On the contrary, they are
reluctant to do what they are doing.
when we were young, we didn’t try our best to fight for
what we want to be. If we tried out engouh things and did it,
may we didn’t have professional regrets. Dreaming of being a
teacher, we should desire for learning and work hard to improve
teaching level when we are in university. However, life is not
always what we want it to be. Although we fight and we cry,
someone else maybe more competent to the position. At that
time, we can not do anything but give up. But in our hearts, we
still love it.
We have only life and one chance to do all the things that
you want to do. Why not a president ? Why not a doctor, actor,
lawyer or a singer? What do we live for ? Just hold on our
dream, we may be just the one we want to be.
We don’t all become what we think we want to be. You
could ask “what do you do ?” if you follow it up with a second
question “how did you get there?”
