研究背景

随着我国经济的腾飞，北京成功举办奥运会以及上海申博成功之后，中外国际交流在经济、政治、文化、外交、教育等方面蓬勃发展，中国日益成为全球最佳的投资地之一，因此，越来越多的外国友人来访中国，而住宿休息成为他们所关心的一项内容，宾馆正迎合了这个需求。

杭州作为我国著名的旅游城市，拥有着江南丽景和闻名于世的西湖，已经成为中外友人的旅游热点之一。同时，随着中国酒店行业的国际化，杭州酒店经营者需要为酒店起一个合适的英文名字，这不仅能够让外国友人了解中国文化，还能够促进酒店在海外市场的拓展，加速我国酒店的国际化。

而我有幸参加一酒店实习，感觉这家酒店的名称翻译并不是很贴切，人们先知道酒店名称，再选择入住，在学习目的论知识之后，认为以目的论作为杭州酒店名称的翻译理论依据尤为恰当，目的论是翻译理论的一个重大突破，译者应该从目标读者的思维习惯，社会文化背景以及接受心理出发，为酒店提出合适的英文名。
