1. Objectives
The objective of the “Volume Production Quality Control Test” for accessories is to guard against
- uncontrolled production process changes affecting product quality
- material/component quality problems
- shipping of immature products with systematic problems
- working shift failures
The Volume Production Quality Control Test (VPQCT) is based on successive samples taken from
the production run while production is going on. The VPQCT is not a 100% test!
The VPQCT has to be seen as a set of additional tests run besides normal production tests.
The VPQCT can be coordinated together with defined EMC tests.
2. VPQCT Process
The VPQCT process contains two types of test, the Volume Aging Test and the Professional Aging
Test. All product specific tests are described in the NMP`s product specification.
This process will be audited at the supplier’s premises
A passed Volume Aging Test is an approval of daily deliveries and the Professional Aging Test is
check-up on product quality.
. Production and VPQCT Flow
For the VPQCT, successive samples of a product are taken from the production run while the
process is going on.
Fig. 1 shows an accessory product process. The test temperature is normal room temperature.
VPQCT samples are taken before packaging.

. VPQCT flow, data handling and actions needed
Samples are taken from every shift completed. Tests are carried out by an assigned person.
All measurement data are stored for 15 years in the supplier’s database. This database has to be
kept in electronic form.
In the case of finding a critical failure (or, alternatively, see table 1) in the test the supplier’s
VPQCT Responsible Person shall immediately stop production. The supplier’s VPQCT
Responsible Person shall inform the Nokia Mobile Phones Product Responsible Person. After
analysis and elimination of the cause of the problem, they shall again release the product for
production.
The results of a failed test and information on the cause of the failure are stored in supplier’s
electronic database together with the sample number (see chapter 7 ”Sample marking”).
