Money is not everything

Needless to say, money is very important in our lives.

(You use money to buy food,clothes,commodities…and so on.If you come into a

store and take what you want and go straight away,people will consider you a

thief or a robber.If you ask them”Why shoud I pay money”,people will think you

might have gone insane and put you into a madhouse. )

Without money, we can’t study in such a beautiful campus. Without

money, we can’t live in such a hometown. Without money, we can’t have such a

motherland.Anyway, If there is no money, you don’t need to bear my speech

about money now.

Most of us have dreamed about the future, getting a good job and making a

lot of money. Best possible becoming a millionair. I bet you have thought at

times “If only I had a lot of money, I could be the happiest person in the

world.”Then we encounter the question: Can money guarantee you happiness?

Or Is money an access to happiness? The anwser is no.And In fact，it’s not like

what we often suppose it to be. Becoming rich is not always a pleasant

thing..Shakespeare has wrote such a line in Othello:”poor and content is rich,and

rich enough,but riches fineless is as poor as winter to him that ever fears he shall

be poor.”That means,if you worries you might lose your money all day,you are no

better than a tramp.At least they gets freedom.But you are as poor as winter.

And now,People live for money.You all know the Foxconn,the company in

which 12 people have jumped off from the high building and died because of

enormous pressure from work? You see ,people make money at what a cost!They

sacrifice their health,their time with family and nature,even their lives!And as

for the rest of them who haven’t died form overwork in China,they share the

attitude that: “I’ll enjoy lifet when I have enough money and retire.”Ok,there

are three problems in total.firstly,money can never be enough.secondly,when you

retire,you have to compensate for your body which has been overused during the

period of working.thirdly,when you get enough money and a healthy body,you

are too old to enjoy anything.isn’t it sad?xiaoshenyang has a most famous line

that:”the most pathetic thing in the world is that, you died , and you still owned a

lot of money.”Then what are you working like a machine for?earning a lot of

money and then leave it to people you hate who will use your money to enjoy

their lives!

With consciousness or no consciousness at all, ,people nowadays tend to lay too

much stress on money. For example,people in society now value others by their

fortune,not their virtue.If you are rich,oh,you are good.But if you are poor,then

leave me alone!And it’s not a problem with the minority of people in the

society,,but society itself.It has become a universal cognition that you can use

money to buy nearly everything you want.Hundreds years ago,a great writer

once said:Good name in man and woman is the immediate jewel of their

souls.Who steals my purse steals trash;it’s nothing.It was mine;it was his and has

been slave to thousands;But he that filches from me my good name robs me of

that which not enriches him,and makes me poor indeed.However,now you can

buy yourself good name,use your money.

And then ,since life is miserable with money and the same with no

money.money must be the source of evil.Demons from hell.Actually,it’s another

case for people to evade their responsibility.Money is merely a tool,like a

hammer.for example,you killed one person using your hammer.But no one will

be fool enough as to accuse your hammer and sentence your hammer to death.

Money is neither good nor bad itself. It’s our attitude which should be

changed,It’s our lust which should be abandoned.

So, my fellow students,money is never the destination you strive for.

Life is not easy,so we should attach things more meaningful to it. Because, we

have the future; we are the future.
