Sons and loversAt first sight of this book, the name, sons and lovers, give me a deep impression. Its name draws my attention so deep that I want to known what happens in the story. Before I read it, I guess it‟s a story about mother and son‟s lover, as it were, Oedipus Complex. Just as I guess, the story is about heroine Mrs. Morel and hero Paul‟s love, they are mother and son, but their feelings beyond their relationship, they love each of them just like husband and wife‟s feelings. Why does writer write this story? There have some guess, one is that this story is based on writer D.H. Lawrence‟ li ves. His mother‟s strong and abnormal motherhood smother his normal love toward other women, this story has details about his painful lives. The first part of story is about the early married life of the Morels and the child of Morels family. Mrs. Morel is the second girl of a good old family, and she is a rather proud, unyielding and delicate girl. Before married, she is a girl who all man likes her and she has vision of future life. They fall into love and the next Christmas they are married. For three months she is perfectly happy, for six months she is very happy. But in the seventh month, she found she is cheated by Morel through an unpaid bill. They have debt and even the house they live need paying rent, which she did not known before. The young wife says nothing and her manner changes toward her husband. When the third Christmas comes, she will bear him a first child. She does not feel good when the child born though Morel is good to her, as good as gold. She feels lonely with him. At last, Mrs. Morel despises her husband, she puts her heart into the beautiful child, and Morel has begun to neglect her, the novelty of his own home is gone. 儿子与情人读后感英文 "The Son and the Mistress" is a compelling novel written by renowned author Tania James. Spanning across multiple generations, this thought-provoking tale explores the complex dynamics between a son, his father, and the mistress who becomes a significant presence in their lives. As I immersed myself in the captivating narrative, I was struck by the intricate portrayal of human relationships, the exploration of identity, and the contrast between cultural expectations and personal desires.
One of the central themes that resonated deeply with me was the exploration of the father-son relationship. The novel delves into the emotional complexities inherent within this bond, as the son grows up desiring his father's love and approval. The author masterfully captures the son's journey as he navigates through his childhood, adolescence, and adulthood, wrestling with his desperate need for validation from his father. I was deeply moved by the son's longing for a genuine connection with his father, only to be continuously disappointed by his emotional unavailability.
儿子与情人读后感英文500字Reflections on "Sons and Lovers"D.H. Lawrence's "Sons and Lovers" is a profound exploration of the complexities of familial love, individual aspirations, and the conflicts that arise when these two forces collide. Set against the backdrop of industrial England, the novel tells the story of Paul Morel, a young man grappling with his identity, his desires, andthe expectations of those closest to him.Paul's relationship with his mother, Mrs. Morel, is at the heart of the novel. Their bond is deeply emotional and intense, almost to the point of suffocation. Mrs. Morel's love for her son is possessive and all-consuming,reflecting her own unmet emotional needs and desires. Paul, in turn, finds himself trapped within this love, unable to escape its clutches and pursue his own dreams and ambitions. The clash between Paul's desire for freedom and hismother's clingy affection is particularly poignant. Lawrence captures the suffocating weight of a mother's love and the yearning for independence that is inherent in every individual. This conflict is further exacerbated by Paul's relationship with Clara, a woman who embodies his ideal of love and companionship. Their affair, though passionate, is doomed by Clara's fragile emotional state and Paul's own inability to break free from his mother's shadow.Lawrence's portrayal of the industrial landscape of England adds another layer of complexity to the narrative. The industrialization of the country has not only transformed the landscape but has also altered the social and psychological fabric of society. The Morel family, like many others, is caught in the crosshairs of this transformation, struggling to maintain their traditional values and aspirations amidst the changing times. The novel's exploration of the themes of love, loss, and self-discovery is profound and thought-provoking. Lawrence's writing is both poetic and vivid, bringing the characters and their emotions to life. The narrative isemotional and engaging, making the reader feel theintensity of the characters' passions and conflicts. In conclusion, "Sons and Lovers" is a timeless novel that explores the complexities of familial love, individual aspirations, and the conflicts that arise when these two forces collide. Lawrence's masterful storytelling and profound insights into the human psyche make this a must-read for anyone interested in literature and psychology.。
儿子与情人读后感英文After reading "Sons and Lovers" by D.H. Lawrence, I couldn't help but feel deeply moved by the complex relationships and emotions portrayed in the novel. The story follows the lives of the Morel family, particularly the intense bond between the protagonist, Paul Morel, and his mother, as well as his tumultuous relationships with his lovers. The novel delves into the intricacies of love, desire, and the struggles of self-discovery, leaving a lasting impression on the reader. One of the most striking aspects of the novel is the portrayal of the intense and suffocating relationship between Paul and his mother, Gertrude. Their bond is so strong that it borders on unhealthy, as Gertrude becomes overly dependent on Paul, and Paul struggles to break free from her grasp. This dynamic is both fascinating and disturbing, as it delves into the complexities of a mother-son relationship that blurs the lines between love and possessiveness. It made me reflect on the nature offamilial love and the impact it can have on an individual's development and relationships.Furthermore, the novel also explores Paul's romantic relationships with two very different women, Miriam and Clara. Through these relationships, Lawrence delves into the themes of passion, longing, and the search for fulfillment. Miriam represents a deep, spiritual connection for Paul, while Clara embodies a more physical and passionate love. The contrast between these two relationships highlights the different facets of love and desire, and the struggles that come with finding a balance between the two.As I read through the novel, I found myself drawn into the emotional turmoil of the characters, feeling their joys and sorrows as if they were my own. Lawrence's vivid and evocative writing brought the characters and their emotions to life, making it easy for me to empathize with their struggles. The raw and unfiltered portrayal of human emotions left a deep impression on me, as it made mereflect on my own experiences with love and relationships. Moreover, the novel also delves into the theme of self-discovery and the struggle to break free from the constraints of family and society. Paul's journey towards finding his own identity and purpose is fraught with obstacles and internal conflicts, making it a relatable and poignant aspect of the story. It made me ponder on the challenges of self-discovery and the importance of staying true to oneself, even in the face of adversity. In conclusion, "Sons and Lovers" is a powerful and thought-provoking novel that delves into the complexities of love, desire, and self-discovery. The intense and suffocating bond between a mother and son, the contrasting relationships with lovers, and the struggles of findingone's own identity are all masterfully portrayed by D.H. Lawrence. This novel has left a lasting impression on me, prompting me to reflect on the nature of love and the intricacies of human relationships. I highly recommend this novel to anyone who is interested in delving into the depths of human emotions and experiences.。

But the end of the relationship is a tragedy. And nowadays we also can find this kind of tragedy there and here in the world. It’s because of the possession that cause the tragedy .This thesis will prove this view from the possession of different relationships. Introduction 1.1About David Herbert Lawrence DH Lawrence is one of the most original and controversial English writers of the 20th century. During his life-long literary career, he had written more than ten novels and several short stories. He was best known as a novelist. Besides being a great novelist, he is also a poet, an essayist, a travel-writer, and literary correspondent. His Sons and Lovers is considered as one of the most popular novel. Lawrence took human relationship, especially that of men and women, to build his novel. His first novel was Sons and Lovers. His other famous works are the Rainbow, Women in Love, The Lost Girl, Lady Chatterley's Lover and so on.
1.2 About Sons and Lovers Sons and Lovers is one of Lawrence's most popular novels. It tells the story of a miner's family-the Morel family. Mrs. Morel, mother of the sons, is the major character in this novel. She is a woman of high education, middle-class lady who is disillusioned with her husband, a coarse and hard-drinking miner. Her husband, Mr. Morel comes from the lower-class, who can hardly read and write but dance well. After they have been married for several years, Mr. Morel works very hard for family, but he ignores his wife. He doesn’t know she begins to change her manner to him. She is disappointed by his rough manners, his drinking, and his clownery. And the difficult life make the marriage turned into a battlefield. And the love she has withdrawn from Morel is being redirected toward the first of her children. Such is the world into which Paul Morel is born. And the sons all love their mother and are jealous of the father. She has had a passion for her husband, but her husband can’t give what she wanted. So her children are born of passion, and have heaps of vitality. But as her sons are grow up she selects them as lovers, first the eldest, then the second. But when the sons come to manhood, they can’t love, because their mother is the strongest power in their lives, and holds them. Then, this possession killed her first son, William. The next son gets a woman who fights for his soul, fights his mother. Of cause, the mother is powerful because of the ties of blood. Finally, the son decides to leave his soul in his mother’ hands, like his brother go for passion. He gets passion. But, when his mother begins to die, the son casts off his mistress, attends to his mother dying. He is left in the end naked of everything, with the drift towards death. The result are obvious, the end of the relationship in Morel’ family is a tragedy. In this thesis will analyze the cause of tragedy—possession, it is the desire of the holding or having something as one’s own or under one’s control. There are many strong possessions in this novel and it brings much destruction to relationship.
