Step 1. Lead-in

1.--- What festival do you like best?

--- What do people often do on that special day?

2. Show some pictures about different festivals on the screen and help the

students to talk about them.

Step 2. Presentation

1. Get the students to look at the pictures of the 4 festivals and try to describe

them.

2. Ask the students to finish 1a on P9.

3. Pair work:

A: What a great day it is! What do you like best about…?

B: I love …. How nice they are!

4. Teach the usages of Exclamatory statement.

Step 3. Listening

1. Listen and circle T for true or F for false (1b)

2. Listen and circle the correct words in the sentences.(2a)

3. Listen again and fill in the chart. (2b )

4. Check up their answers.

Step 4. Practice (2c)

Role play the conversations between Wu Ming and Harry.

Step 5. Role-play the conversation

1. Watch the video and learn something about Water Festival.

2. Read the conversation and tell “True” or “False”.

一.Objective clauses (宾语从句)

(一) 三种

1.陈述句: 主句+ that + 句子(主语 + 谓语)

that 为引导词,无实意,可省

2.一般问句:主句 + if / whether + 句子(主语 + 谓语)

if/ whether有实意“ 是否” ,不可省

★★(1)任何情况下都可用whether,以下情况不用if:

a. 强调两方面的选择,特别是句中有or not时。

b. 引导主语从句(句首)、表语从句(be后)时。

c. 在介词之后作介词的宾语时。

d. 在不定式前与不定式一起组成词组时: Whether to do

e. 宾语从句前置时。如: Whether this is true, I can't say.

(2)if / whether引导的从句中用any, 而不是some

(3)if 的用法:

表“是否”时,引导宾语从句,后用将来时表将来

表“如果”时,引导条件状语从句,后用一般现在时表将来

(主将从现)

3.特殊问句:主句 + 特殊问词 + 句子(主语 + 谓语)

同义句: 主句+特殊问词 + to do

(二)两点

1.语序:从句中一定要用陈述语序:主语 + 谓语

2.时态:主句中用一般现在时,从句中可用各种时态

主句中用一般过去时,从句中可用相应的过去时

(三)一特殊

客观真理不随主句时态的影响,永远用一般现在时

eg. The teacher told us that the earth goes round the sun.

My father said that light travels faster than sound.

Our teacher said that Lanzhou lies in the middle of China.
