– Open RMIM – Serialize RMIM into HMD • Constrain design through vocabulary, cardinality, mandatory, conformance – Create Message Types (MTs) from HMD • Constrain design (as before) – Export from Rosetree • Creates 1 .HMD file for HMD & “all” MTs in HMD

• HL7 XML ITS process
– ITS = Implementation Technology Specification – Java program which transforms an HMD to create an XML schema for each MT (message type) in an HMD – Output will be a schema definition (.XSD)

– HL7 XML ITS (v1.11) tooling is very stable… – requires some hand crafting to generate composite message payload – Common schemas provided by HL7 • Wrappers, CMETs, RIM, VOC, DT – Tools required to generate schemas noted at end of presentation
