1)Students will be able to understand the passage about hobbies.
2) Students will be able to use the following words and expressions: sailing, painting, interests, bring
sb. pleasure, bring sb. success ,grow as a person
3)Students will be able to understand and use simple sentences.
Ⅱ. Ability aims
1) Students will be able to talk about different hobbies.
2) Students will be able to write about their friends’ hobbies by using such as, as well as, as a
result.
Ⅲ. Emotional aims
1) Students will be able to have a hobby to help them to improve their English.
2) Don’t spend too much time in playing computer games.

Step One Lead in Notes
Lead in the topic by a song.
通过有关hobbies的视频直接导入话题。
Step Two Presentation Notes
Show two pictures of my daughter’s hobbies.
Let students say which hobbies they can see in the photos.
Pair work. Practise the following sentences.
What’s your hobby? My hobby is….
Why do you like…?Because it is…( healthy, dangerous, active,
interesting, relaxing, tiring… ) 用女儿生活中的两张照片引出What’s
your hobby? Why do
you like…?然后采用短语和图片配对的形式处理Activity
1中爱好的短语,先让学生感知意思,然后再认读。最后Pair
work。
Step Three Help the students to know more about the advantages
of hobbies. 先通过具体的图片,让学生清楚认识爱 Show my daughter’s pictures to teach:
learn new skills ,bring her success, bring her pleasure,
develop her interests
Pair work. Ask students to talk about “If you like playing
basketball, you may be a _____ person. If you like looking after
animals, you may be a _____ person….”Help them understand
the phrase “grow as a person” 好的几个优点。但对于grow as a person学生理解起来有点困难,所以我设置了4个if从句,“假如你喜欢……你会成为一个怎样的人。”在教师创设的情景中,学生对这四个开放性问题展开讨论,获得新知。
Step Four Reading Notes
Scan the passage. Let students understand the structure of the
passage. Then match the main idea with each paragraph
Learn more about David’s story.
1. Help the students understand how the writer develops David’s
story.
2. Complete the diagram.
3. Retell the passage.
4. Ask the students to discuss the following questions.
Q1. Will David’s new books be successful?
Q2. What is important on his way to success?(At least 3points)
Q3.Are all the hobbies good for us. 在处理阅读篇章时,先让学生快速阅读,从整体上把握文章的结构和每个段落的中心意思。接着重点学习David的故事,我设置了旁边的那张图,分成了三部分,他的过去,现在和未来,帮助学生理清脉络,也有助于他们复述课文。最后设置三个开放性问题,对学生进行情感教育,同时处理Learning to learn
里的知识。
Step Five Group work. Find out your partner’s hobby and make
notes. Use as well as, such as, as a result. 输出环节,帮助学生进一步掌握重难点。
