一、什么是中国英语(china english)
首先,中国英语不是中国式英语。
1991年汪榕培先生将中国英语定义为“它是中国人在中国本土上使用的、以标准英语为核心、具有中国特点的英语”。
1993年,李文中先生也定义了“中国英语是以规范英语为核心,表达中国社会文化诸领域特有事物,不受母语干扰和影响,通过音译、译借及语义再生诸手段进入英语交际,具有中国特点的词汇、句式和语篇。
中国英语主要构成包括音译词、译借词以及独特的句式和语篇”。
后来贾冠杰、向明友(1997)进一步指出,中国英语是“操汉语的人们所使用的、以标准英语为核心、具有无法避免或有益于传播中华文化的中国特点的英语变体”。
因此综合以上几家观点,可以得出如下结论:
1.中国英语是汉语与英语语言文化交流过程中所产生的一种特殊语言现象。
2.中国英语是用不属于讲英语民族的人所惯用的词语表达中国
社会文化诸领域特有事物,具有中国特点的英语。
3.中国英语以规范英语为基础,能够进入英语交际,不受母语干扰。

二、中国英语的现状
1.按汉语习惯说出的英语与其本族语者的英语并没有区别。
2.有些中国英语虽然不符合或不完全符合英语本族语者的习惯,但符合语法。
3.有些中国英语虽然不符合语法,但是可能符合英语本族语者的习惯,能被接受。
4.有些中国英语目前确实还没有被所谓的“规范英语”接受,但是对于英语本族语来讲意思十分清楚,理解不成问题,或者一经解释就会明白,并且对于中国人来讲学习起来不费功夫,用起来得心应手,能够发挥语言作为工具的功能。
实际上我们应解决的问题是后两类,因为它最能体现中国特有的、难以改变的语言思维习惯,最有中国的标记。
三、中国英语的发展趋势
随着我国经济和文化的发展,国际地位的提高,对世界影响的不断扩大,尤其随着像“菜鸟”,“草泥马”之类网络新词的出现,必然会有更多的中国特有的“说法”译成外语,从而使外语受汉语的影响不断丰富。
据统计,牛津字典中以汉语为来源的英语词有一千
多条(1189个),说明英语在不断吸收着汉语。
英语中已使用从中文借用的词汇、短语数量种类之大,居于英语中借词第十一位。
如果从语义划分,可具体分为包括地理名称、艺术名词、种族词汇、武术名称、政治名词、地质学名称等19类。
可见受汉语影响的“汉化英语”的出现和发展是一种客观必然。
四、中国英语与我国英语教材改革
教材的改革需要考虑到我国的民族特色,“让世界了解中国,让中国走向世界”是我国对外交流的目标,也是我国英语课程教材建设和教学改革的方向。
因而,教材选题应该在介绍英语国家文化的基础上,适当增加有中国特色的文章。
五、我国英语教材中可以借鉴的中国英语
下面从形成途径对中国英语的词汇、短语和句子作一些简单归纳和介绍:
1.音译:中国英语中有一部分词汇或短语是根据中国普通话发音直接转化生成的。
例如:
(1)有关历史文化:xiucai秀才, dazibao大字报等。
(2)有关文体娱乐: erhu二胡, wushu武术, mahjong麻将,qigong气功等。
(3)有关衣食住行:jiaozi饺子, wu liang ye五粮液等。

(2)有历史文化特色的中国英语词汇: four books四书, paper tiger纸老虎等。
(3)在书面中出现时,经常使用引号的中国英语词汇、短语或句子:running dogs走狗,work units工作单位等。
3.语义再生:中国英语中有一部分词汇、短语、句子是从汉语意思译成英语后而生成新的英语意思。
例如:
(1)短语: chinese wall长城,red guard红卫兵, hundred flowers百花齐放等。
(2)成语、句子:people mountains and people seas人山人海。
(3)复合词:即音译和译借词的混合。
例如,tea的词组就有teaspoon, tea cup 等。
六、要避免中国式英语的一些错误
中国式英语就是以汉语的语法去说英语,是一种不正确的使用方式,尤其表现在学生写作文或者阅读的时候习惯先用中文思考,然后把中文逐字翻译成英语,单个的单词可能用的是对的,但连起来意思就不是那样了,而且即使意思是一样的在不同的语境中可能也无法表达正确的含义,这在中小学或者中专学生中非常普遍。
想要提高英语水平,避免中国式英语,可以试着读一些原版的英文名著
