SenseandSensibility英文读后感(5篇)第一篇:Sense and Sensibility英文读后感Let Your Head Control Your HeartWhat would you do if you are announced that the one you love has been engaged with another person for a long time? Elinor, the lead character of Sense and Sensibility, decides to respect Edward's promise to that girl and remain her deep love in her heart, though she adores Edward very much and Edward's fiancee Lucy is a stupid woman who doesn't deserve Edward's love at all. After reading the novel Sense and Sensibility(S&S in short), I can't stop myself from thinking about all the scenes the book brought me.However, let me make a brief introduction to the novel and its author at first.Jane Austen is my favorite author. In her short life, she wrote six of the greatest novels in the English Language.Besides S&S, she is also famous for Pride and Prejudice, Emma Persuasion, etc.S&S is the first one to be written, but Jane's skills to write are showed completely.Today, her novels, at which she worked with great care, have become a famed and timeless favorite.Jane's novels all have something to do with young ladies’ marriage, so does S&S.Elinor is the eldest daughter of Mr.and Mrs.Dashwood.She is composed but affectionate. On the one hand, her growing love for Edward surfers a check;on the other hand, she has to comforts and supports her heart-broken younger sister Mar ianne.Marianne’s emotional mind and romantic thoughts drives her to an attractive but selfish young man Willoughby, who abandons Marianne and marries wealthy Miss.Gray.Luckily, things turn well.Edward’s fiancee Lucy decides to break up with Edward, so he ultimately marries Elinor after he is free from a four-year wrongengagement.Meanwhile, Marianne thinks over about what kind of person she is truly looking for and accepts the proposal of Brandon, who acts kindly, honorable, and gracious to everyone. Both of the couples live happily ever after.I want to talk about this novel and show admire to Jane in three ways: First, to the great person she portrayed. It’s clear that comparing Elinor to Marianna, our author likes the former better.Elinor is the heroine of Jane's novel because she is always trying to find a workable middle between passion and reason. She represents qualities of “sense”: reason, social responsibility, and a clear-headed concern for the welfare of others. As for the younger one Marianne, who represents qualities of “sensibility”: emotion, impulsiveness, and rapturous devotion.Jane expressed her compassion to Marianne and led her to a saner way.In my opinion, I love both of the sisters. As a matter of fact, Marianne catches most of the fancy of me.She does what she wants to do.She loves who she wants to love. She hates to obey the hypocritical social rules. If we compare Elinor to Xue Baochai, Marianne does have something in common with Lin Daiyu.Marianne doesn’t follow who she doesn’t agree with. What’s more, just like Elinor once says,”Marianne never loves somebody with half of her heart and soul.” How adorable she is!Second, to the perfect writing skills Jane used.Among all the 50 chapters, a large amount of brilliant conversations and descriptions are found easily.Facing to all the annoying negative characters, Jane can always go right to the heart of the matter: vanity, greed and bad social ideas towards men and women. She isn’t criticizing anyone, but the most talent ironic essays in the world flow under Jane’s pen!On the contract, our author is fondof her lead characters and used her passion to make them vivid.Besides Elinor and Marianne, Edward’s honesty and Brandon’s consideration also impressed me a lot.In addition, the England country scenery which she gave a color to is unbelievable for its beauty! No wonder so many romantic things happened there! Finally, I’d like to sum up my own feelings.I recognize that, it’s the hardest thing in one’slifetime to choose from sense and sensibility. It’s too c hildish to let sense cover up sensibility.Entire sense doesn’t seem realistic.I’ve learnt that, the sign of growing up means that you can control sense with sensibility.Only by doing this, can you not only feel good about yourself but also get along well with all your surroundings.By Pheonix Lu第二篇:英文读后感篇一:老人与海英文读后感this year summer vacation, i read the american well-known writer hemingway's of two cities” is one of Dickens's most important representative works. The novel profoundly exposed the society contradiction before the French Revolution, intensely attacks the aristocratic social class is dissolute and cruel, and sincerely sympathizes with the depressed classes. The novel also describedmany magnificent scenes like the revolt people attacked Bastille and so on,which displayed people's great strength. The novel has portrayed many different people.Doctor Manette is honest and kind but suffers the persecution actually,Lucie is beautiful and gentle,Charles is graceful and noble,Lorry is upright and honest,Sydney is semblance of indifferent, innermost feelings of warm, unconventional but also selfless and lofty,Miss pross is straightforward and loyal,Evremonde brothers are cruel and sinis ter……The complex hatred is hard to solve, the cruel revenge has made more hatreds, loves rebirth in the hell edge, but take the life as the price. As an outstanding writer,in Dickens's work, the language skill is essential. Each kind of rhetoric technique, like the analogy, the exaggeration, the contrast, the humorous, and the taunt are handled skillfully, and the artistry of the work is also delivered the peak.“A tale of two cities” has its difference with the general historical novel, its character and the main plot are all fictionalizes. With the broad real background of the French Revolution, the author take the fictional character Doctor Manette's experience as the main clue, interweaves the unjust charge, love and revenge three independences but also incident cross-correlation stories together, the plot is criss-crossed,and the clue is complex. The author use insert narrates, foreshadowing, upholstery and so many techniques, causes the structure integrity and strictness, the plot winding anxious and rich of theatrical nature,it displayed the remarkable artistic skill.the style “A tale of two cities” is solemnity and melancholy, fills indignantion, but lacks the humor of the early works.篇三:飘英文读后感Scarlett , a very personality figures, the two mans she love ,neither does she know about. To her, I was compelled toadmire, admire her strong and brave, admire her to lay down in the environment, farm workers previously suffered education, admire her to disregard the community to create their own expression of the cause. She is in the whole story, all a person full of fighting will full of vitality.I appreciated most , it is this “ Tomorrow is another day of hers.”.promising forever, full of fighting will , will never give up, never desperate.I think I'm moved by her.So, whenever I meet difficulty, the mood is not good, I will tell oneself : “ Tomorrow is another day.” 'Gone with the Wind' is absolutely a good book that is worth sampling repeatedly, the characters are graceful , the plot rises and falls, exciting boldly and unconstrainedly, though the subjective factor because of the author among them , the appraisal on U.S.A.'s Civil War is not objective and overall, but as to angle of literature, this one fine piece of writing generation definitely absolutely, worth visiting.Title: The Little princeAuthor: Antoine de St-ExuperyMain Characters: The little prince, the pilot, the rose, the fox, the snake, etc.Despite I’ve not in my childhood yet, I still prefer reading fairy-tale stories. The tales, which accompany with me in my old has escaped from his tiny planet, becausehe has some quarrel with a rose, which grows on his planet. In that case he left his own planet and took an exploration at some neighbor asteroids. On his all-alone journey, the little prince meets different kinds of people, which includes a king, a conceited man, a tippler, a businessman, a lamplighter and a geographer. From these people he gets a conclusion that the grown-ups are very odd.Following the instruction of the geographer, he descends in the Sahara, on the earth.篇四:小王子英文读后感Main Characters: The little prince, the pilot, the rose, the fox, the snake, etc.Despite I've not in my childhood yet, I still prefer reading fairy-tale stories. The tales, which accompany with me in my old days, often make me think of some precious experience and sensation which only belong to children. This summer I've review this kind of tale, which was published in 1940.It's the world-famous fairy-tale by the French author, Antoine de St-Exupery, The Little prince. As many other fairy-tales, the outline of The Little prince is not very complex.“I”,the narrator of the story, is a pilot whose plane has something wrong and lands in the Sahara. In this occasion, the pilot makes the acquaintance of the little prince, a little boy from another planet, the Asteroid B612.The little prince has escaped from his tiny planet, because he has some quarrel with a rose, which grows on his planet. In that case he left his own planet and took an exploration at some neighbor asteroids. On his all-alone journey, the little prince meets different kinds of people, which includes a king, a conceited man, a tippler, a businessman, a lamplighter and a geographer. From these people he gets a conclusion that the grown-ups are very odd.Following the instruction of the geographer, he descends in the Sahara, on the earth.Traveling onthe earth, the little prince, who sees a garden of five-thousand roses, is overcome with astonishment and sadness, as he considers his rose is unique in the universe before. At that time a fox appears. The fox, who tell the little prince about the meaning of the word “tame”,becomes his new friend. At the time to say farewell, the fox makes him know that his rose is unique because she is his rose and tamed by him. From that the little prince begins to treasure friendship and be responsible to his rose.At the anniversary day of his descent of the earth, rejecting the pilot's advice, he goes back to his own planet by bite of a snake.“It's too far.I can not carry this body with me.It's too heavy.” he said.He tells his friend, the pilot, he must be responsible for his rose, so he has to go back.At the end the author doesn't tell us the ending directly.Maybe it's more significant for us to imagine, and for more, think over. One of the important characters is the rose.Growing on the planet, she is very beautiful, but her coquetry and vanity suffer the little prince a lot.In spite of they love each other, he soon becomes unhappy. On the time of his departure, he just knows she certainly loves him.The character of the little prince actually represents the children, and their native thoughts and deeds. On the contrary, the inhabitants on the other planets, such as the king, the businessman and the conceited man, they also reflect the defects in the grown-up's world. The real theme of this fairy-tale with a little sadness, I guess, is the consequence of pure love and friendship in our lives, but not others “matters of consequence” of the grown-ups.Unbelievable, this little book moved me a lot.I seldom think about the true meaning of love and life before.Well, now I can say, with my short sixteen-year's life experience, it's like the stars in the sky that lit my heart. The little prince is not only an ordinaryfairy-tale for children, but also for grown-ups, and our teenagers.Nevertheless, when I read this book, I feel a little sad –about ourselves, whom are losing more and more innocence.篇五:傲慢与偏见英文读后感The feeling of 《pride And prejudice》Then man treat gre at event in one’s life with punishing, Demonstrate different attitudes to the love question of the marriage of young girl Book report of Pride and prejudicePride and prejudice is a famous novel throughout the world。
The author of Pride and Prejudice is a British novelist, Jane Austin。
Austin was born in a mid—class family。
Her father was a local vicar。
Although her family was not very rich, her father attached great importance to her education。
Influenced by her father, Jane read many literary works when she was young. Jane was unmarried all her life and her novels did not earned her great fames when she was alive。
After her death in 1817, Jane’s novel became popular across the world。
“Sense” and “Sensibility”The novel Sense and Sensibility throws me into a flow of deep thinking about our society and nowadays people’s view on love and marriage. Here I want to talk about the two different characters in this novel——“sense”and “sensibility”, and make a comparison between them. I’d like to show you my thoughts after reading, too.The writer is Jane Austen, who is my favorite author. In her short life, she wrote six of the greatest novels in the English Language. Besides Sense and Sensibility, she is also famous for Pride and Prejudice, Emma Persuasion, etc. Sense and Sensibility is the first one to be written, but Jane's skills to write are showed completely. Today, her novels, at which she worked with great care, have become a famed and timeless favorite. Jane's novels all have something to do with young ladies’ marriage, so does Sense and Sensibility. The two sisters, one represents “sense” and the other represents “sensibility”, are very different in their views on love and marriage.Elinor is the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dashwood. She is composed but affectionate. On the one hand, her growing love for Edward surfers a check; on the other hand, she has to comforts and supports her heart-broken younger sister Marianne. Marianne’s emotional mind and romantic thoughts drives her to an attractive but selfish young man Willoughby, who abandons Marianne and marries wealthy Miss. Gray. Luckily, things turn well. Edward’s fiancee Lucy decides to break up with Edward, so he ultimately marries Elinor after he is free from a four-year wrong engagement. Meanwhile, Marianne thinks over about what kind of person she is truly looking for and accepts the proposal of Brandon, who acts kindly, honorable, and gracious to everyone. Both of the couples live happily ever after.Elinor is the heroine of Jane's novel because she is always trying to find a workable middle between passion and reason. She represents qualities of "sense": reason, social responsibility, and a clear-headed concern for the welfare of others. As for the younger one Marianne, who represents qualities of "sensibility": emotion, impulsiveness, and rapturous devotion. Jane expressed her compassion to Marianne and led her to a saner way.The characters of each person in this story are vividly expressed, owing to the perfect writing skills Jane used. Among all the 50 chapters, a large amount of brilliant conversations and descriptions are found easily. Facing to all the annoying negative characters, Jane can always go right to the heart of the matter: vanity, greed and bad social ideas towards men and women. She isn’t criticizing anyone, but the most talentironic essays in the world flow under Jane’s pen! On the contract, our author is fond of her lead characters and used her passion to make them vivid. Besides Elinor and Marianne, Edward’s honesty and Brandon’s consideration also impressed me a lot. Here I want to take some paragraphs of conversation from the original text for example.“Had you any idea of his coming so soon?” said Mrs. Dashwood. “I had none. On the contrary, if I have felt any anxiety at all on the subject, it has been in recollecting that he sometimes showed a want of pleasure and readiness in accepting my invitation, when I talked of his coming to Barton. Does Elinor expect him already?”“I have never mentioned it to her, but of course she must.”“I rather think you are mistaken, for when I was talking to her yesterday of getting a new grate for the spare bedchamber, she observed that there was no immediate hurry for it, as it was not likely that the room would be wanted for some time.”“How strange this is! what can be the meaning of it! But the whole of their behaviour to each other has been unaccountable! How cold, how composed were their last adieus! How languid their conversation the last evening of their being together! In Edward’s farewell there was no distinction between Elinor and me: it was the good wishes of an affectionate brother to both. Twice did I leave them purposely together in the course of the last morning, and each time did he most unaccountably follow me out of the room. And Elinor, in quitting Norland and Edward, cried not as I did. Even now her self-command is invariable. When is she dejected or melancholy? When does she try to avoid society, or appear restless and dissatisfied in it?” [1]This happens at the end of the talk between Mrs. Dashwood and her two daughters over the age of Brandon, when Elinor has already left. Elinor’s character is showed thoroughly in Marianne’s words. She seems t o be very composed and considerate about the things which sadden or hurt her. However, in fact, she may wipe her tears when she is alone. She knows that she must control herself by her head rather than her heart, and she indeed does it. But she feels unhappy, or even sorrowful. She is restricted by the conventions. On the contrary, Marianne never pays much attention to what other people talk about her. She just do what she thinks is right andshe follows her heart. The concept of following our hearts is very popular now, as we are free from the restrictions of the conventions. All of this accords with the post-Revolutionary society in which Austen lived. "Sensibility," the indulgence of personal absolutes regardless of social conventions and laws, is viewed widely as a major source of Revolutionary transgression; "sense" is often opposed to Revolutionary theory. The triumph of sense over sensibility in the novel establishes the value of conventional feminine virtues, a position also espoused by other writers in the aftermath of the Revolution. Elinor and Marianne's "sense" triumphs and suffering bring happiness in the end.I love both of the sisters. As a matter of fact, Marianne catches most of the fancy of me. She does what she wants to do. She loves who she wants to love. She hates to obey the hypocritical social rules. If we compare Elinor to Xue Baochai, Marianne does have something in common with Lin Daiyu. Marianne doesn’t follow who she doesn’t agree with. What’s more, just like Elinor once says,” Mari anne never loves somebody with half of her heart and soul.” How adorable she is! In present society, maybe people like Marianne more than Elinor. Because people think that people of the kind of Elinor are too coward to pursue their own happiness, dream or success. While people like Marianne are more likely to be called “Modern people”——fighting for their dreams and sparing no effort to get what they want to own and reach where they want to go.I t’s the hardest thing in one’s lifetime to choose from sense and sensibility. It’s too childish to let sense cover up sensibility. Entire sense doesn’t seem realistic. I’ve learnt that, the sign of growing up means that you can control sense with sensibility. Only by doing this, can you not only feel good about yourself but also get along well with all your surroundings. Jane tells us that we should be emotional but not overemotional. In most occasions, we should be controlled by sensibility. Only when we get a balance between impulse and sensibility can we receive a happy ending. As an individual, we should have our own emotions and characters. But as a part of the whole society, we must integrate ourselves with the community, which requires our self-discipline. That is to say, sense and sensibility must be simultaneous with each other.I learn two points from this novel. First, when I fall in love with a boy, I should express my affection to him bravely, like Marianne, because opportunity will never come twice and I do not want to miss it. But in daily life, both with strangers andacquaintances, I should be sensible, like Elinor, and act maturely and calmly, which means that I have realized the necessity of finding a workable middle ground between passion and reason. Second, the course of true love does not run smoothly. And that is the case with our life. So we should cherish each chance to be with people that we love. And we should stick to what we believe in. As long as we are alive, we must not give up our belief of life and true love. After all, true love can be found only when we dare to seek.参考文献[1] (英国) 奥斯汀 (Jane Austen). 英语读书报告(优秀7篇)英语读书报告篇一Jane Austen's novel Pride and Prejudice is a lighthearted tale of love and marriage in eighteenth-century England. It centers on the elder sisters of the Bennet family, Jane and Elizabeth. Their personalities, misunderstandings and the roles of pride and prejudice play a lavishing story. This story is told from third point of view. From my perspective Jane Austen wanted to convey love wins over prejudice and to not just take in the saying of first impression but to look in the person's character deeper. Jane Austin was born in 1775 in Stevenson, Hampshire. Her family wasn't rich but managed to give her a decent education. She was the seventh of eight children of her father, a clergyman. Like other young women of her social class, Jane and her sister Cassandra were educated mostly at home in subjects of music, drawing, painting, needlework, and social behavior. Her father's encouragement and her own enjoyment in reading led Jane to became very well read. At fourteen she began to write little plays for home theatricals. She also wrote nonsense story's to entertain her family. Jane would spend the majority of the evening in the corner of the room with her manuscript and blotter observing the world surrounding her. She would write when the room was quiet and if she were interrupted, she would cover her manuscript with a blotter and continued when the room was silent again. Before Jane Austen died of cancer in 1817 at Winchester, she had already published six successful novels: Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Northanger Abbey, Mansfield Park, Emma, and Persuasion, respectively. Jane Austen is now buried in the ancient cathedral in Winchester of her native Hampshire. Pride and Prejudice lets you travel through lives back then but also she portrays the lives of modern days. You can read it and you might be able to recall some parts of the book as your life, but in a different time period如何写英语读书报告篇二技术部新员工工作总结来到公司已经有一个多月了,在公司的点点滴滴都让我受益匪浅!不管是在原画、动画还是软件的运用上都让我学到了很多的知识!这些知识可能是我在人生中重要的一笔!作为公司新人,在工作实践中我学到了很多知识。
Book Report of “Sense and Sensibility”Sense and Sensibility is a novel written by the English novelist Jane Austen, published in 1811 in London by Thomas Egerton of the Military Library publishing house. It was the first published novel of Austen’s under the pseudonym “A Lady’. The author Jane Austen (1775-1817) is the English novelist universally renowned by her vivid description of daily life in provincial English middle class. In her novels, there are no drastic social alterations but the calm trivial environment that country clergymen and ladies lived in. Especially her female characters which from various economic statues struggle to pursue the equality and freedom of marriage.Sense and Sensibility is divided into three parts covering 50 chapters. It is the story about two sisters, Elinor and Marianne Dashwood, who get sharp individual differences between them. Just like the title of this book, the elder sister Elinor is the representative of Sense while Marianne, the younger one occupies the other part. Through the ironic and humorous language ,Austen shows her attitude towards love by narrating the love destiny the two sisters encountered—love should be controlled by sense. The main characters Austen portrayed impress me hugely. Elinor Dashwood is the sensible and reserved daughter of Mr. Henry Dashwood. She becomes attached to Edward Ferras, but subdues her love and pain after getting known that Lucy has secretly engaged with him. She has high sense of responsibility to her lover, families and friends. Elinor is exact the most appreciative one done by Austen.Another heroine, Marianne Dashwood is romantically inclined and wistfully expressive younger sister of Elinor. She is beautiful, charming, passionate and extremely talented in music. She was attracted to young, handsome Willoughby but quite indifferent to Colonel Brandon, the “old man” truly loves her in secret. At the end of the story, after being betrayed by Willoughby, she learned that her sensibility had been selfish and got to know how to cherish the people loved her and subdue irrational passion.Whole story happened in the last 18 century which the concept of social class hadlargely affected, even controlled personal lives. In that society, women’s social statues were decided by their marriages, because the law stipulated that the nobility of a family and the wealthy families’estates shall be inherited by their eldest son. Although the daughter could have a substantial dowry, the property must be handed over to their husband after marriage. For this reason, people had inclination to talk about who married who, who had plentiful money and who lost his right of inheritance in the story. Also how much of dowry a woman could possess affected her charm as a spouse, decided her future among families and her living condition as a widow.Elinor and Marianne who have different personalities all constantly pursue the equality and respect of the public. They never subject to worldly discriminations, fight for true love with ration or courage. I love them both. Totally different with the two sisters the selfishness of Fanny and her husband John Dashwood disgusts me. Here is a plot amuses me much. Beside Mr. Henry Dashwood’s dying bed, John Dashwood promised to help his step mother and three step sisters after inheriting his father’s estates, Norland Park. At the beginning, John impressed by his merciful plan of giving 1000 pounds to each lady. However, three sisters and Mrs. Dashwood just obtain the few of living legacy which hardly sustained their life. His selfish snobbish wife, Fanny, let this comes true. Out of the bias to her unique son and coldness to her husband’s half-sisters and step mother, she seduced John to leave nothing to them. “Mrs. John Dashwood did not at all approve of what her husband intended to do his sisters. To take three thousand pounds from the fortune of their dear little boy would be leaving him desperately ruined in the future. She begged him to think again on the subject. And what possible claim the Miss Dashwoods, who were related to him only by half blood, which she considered as no relationship at all, have no his generosity to so large an amount.”(From chapter 2). Now, we get to know her cunning plan. She definitely cleared about what her husband’s legacy essentially meant to her. She and John did this not from muddling themselves but total selfishness. As to Fanny, money is important than everything. Because “that when the money is onced parted with, it never can return.”In spite of this plot, the story of Willoughby impresses me equally. When he first appeared, the author uses gorgeous language to praise him. A charming gentleman who saved Marianne as Prince saves Snow White. Reasonably, Marianne fell in love with him in a flashing moment. Some prudent readers would why Austen creates such a holy angel without any defect. Is he really like what Austen originally said? Going on my reading, I gradually catch author’s ironic device. Willoughby fancied to gossip about Colonel Brandon in front of Marianne and her families like a woman, he never cared about the timing that he had fun with Marianne. Finally, he dumped Marianne to marry a rich girl after losing his right of inheritance and his shameful past exposed. In fact, he is a wild oats frivolity and a liar. What he did absolutely out of money and indulgence. Marianne used to be a innocent girl who reject the idea of second love. She suffered from the betrayal, nearly lost her life. The monstrous contrast between the first and last impression of Willoughby shocks me. Austen’s sarcasm teaches me a lesson, when we handle with our feeling, sensibility and passion suppose to be subdued under rationality. Or, we will get hurt by Marianne adversity. How to find a balance between sense and sensibility when we cope with emotions is the theme of the novel. These two qualities are reciprocal. Only have sense without sensibility, then people are going to be a machine; while, only have sensibility without sense, then people stray away from regular path. Hence, the proper combination of two makes us find pleasant life. The happy ending, the author shows to us, tries to tell people the precious rule.。
