We live in one of the most beautiful is lands in the world. This is a fact we are always forgetting. When beautiful islands are mentioned we think of Trinidad and Tahiti. There are fine, romantic places, but they are not really as exquisitely beautiful as our own Britain. Before the mines and factories came, and long before we went from bad to worse with our arterial roads and petrol stations and horrible brick bungalows, this country must have been an enchantment. Even now, after we have been busy for so long flinging mud at this fair pale face, the enchantment still remains. Sometimes I doubt if we deserve to possess it. There can be few parts of the world in which commercial greed and public indifference have combined to do more damage than they have here. The process continues. It is still too often assumed that any enterprising fellow after quick profits has a perfect right to destroy a loveliness that is the heritage of the whole community.

登过泰山，上过庐山，游过武夷，去过雁荡，相比之下，总觉得黄山有其独特之处。正如人们所说：黄山兼有泰山的雄伟，武夷山的秀逸，庐山的飞瀑腾空，雁荡山的峰石嶙峋……。黄山，可说是四时美景如画。春天，奇花异卉争艳斗妍，加上百鸟啼鸣，花间蝶影，使人沉醉不知归路。夏天，绿树成阴，翠谷流泉；雷雨骤至，立即瀑布飞挂，山间龙吟。秋天，层林尽染，却依然鸟鸣花艳，仿佛三春二度。冬天，时时银装素裹，峰石松草，顶琼佩玉，蔚为奇观。
黄山的松、石、云、泉，更为奇妙，非常罕见，人称“四绝”。
黄山松是黄山奇景之一，它针叶粗短，干曲枝虬，顶平如削，苍翠奇特。它们或雄伟挺立，或倒悬绝壁，或屹立峰颠，或如振翅飞的雄鹰，或似浑身披甲的武士，或冠平如伞，或尖削如剑，苍劲优美，姿态万千。明代钱谦益在《游黄山记》中写道：“黄山无树非松，无松不奇。”确是真实写照。

Ever climbed Mount Tai, mounted Lushan Mountain, traveled Mount Wuyi, been to Y andang Mountain, I feel deeply there is something unique in Mount Huang. As people said:“ Mount Huang
has combined the mountainous majesty of Mount Tai, grace of Wuyi Mountain, suspend waterfall of Lushan Mountain, and rugged stones of Y andang Mountain”. Mount Huang has beautiful and picturesque sceneries in four seasons. In spring, the mountain is crowed with exotic flowers and rare plants, birds are singing in the tree, butterflies are dancing among the flowers, and such a wonderful land will certainly intoxicated everyone and forget who he or she is. In summer, green tress make a pleasant shade, streams flow in the tranquil valley; once the thunderstorm came, immediately the waterfalls fly downwards, roaring in the mountains. In autumn, mountains and forests all tinged, singing birds and colorful flowers could be listened and seen, as if the spring comes back. In winter, the snow is falling softly all over the mountains, stones, pines, and other plants, and this afford a magnificent spectacle.
The pines, stones, clouds, and springs of Mount Huang, which is called “four wonders”, are rather marvelous and rare.
Pine is one of the unique sceneries. Its needles are short and thick, branches are bending and curled, peaks are flat and smooth, plus its quite verdant color, all these makes it quite unique in the world. These pines have various types, either stand magnificently, suspend along the cliffs, towering in the peak, or looks like a armed solider, a canopy being ironed, a sharp sword being whittled. With their elegant and forceful poses, a range of wonderful views presented an enthralling view. Qianxianyi, Ming dynasty, once wrote in the Huangshan Kee:” Mount Huang has no other trees except pines, and every pine in fantastic and unique”. What he said is really the truth.
