GENERAL DESCRIPTIONAK Series remote units are wall mounted, multisceneremotes for use with the Lightronics AR-1202 architectural dimmer and certain other Lightronics products. Each button activates a complete lighting scene. LED indicators show which scene active .There are currently three models available:AK-1005 5 Scenes AK-1003 3 Scenes AK-1002 2 ScenesAK Series units fit into standard single gang wall switch boxes. They communicates with the AR-1202 via a 4 wire bus which will accommodate several remotes and other controls. All wiring is low voltage. The units generally operate in an exclusive mode where only one scene can be active at a time. Each scene may be toggled on and off. When a scene is selected, the AR-1202 circuits fade, at a user controlled rate, to the setting for that scene.Scenes activated by these remotes are actually set up and stored in the AR-1202 dimmer. The remotes only tell the AR-1202 which scene(s) to activate.INSTALLATIONAK Series units connect to the AR-1202 via a shielded 4 conductor cable arranged as 2 twisted pairs. One pair connects to the DATA - and DATA + signals. The other pair carries the common and power.See the diagram "CONNECTOR WIRING" for details.SINGLE UNIT: Connect the 4 cable wires to the screw down terminals on the back of the unit. Connect the cable shield to the REMOTE COMMON terminal. The other end of the cable connects to a small terminal strip inside the AR-1202 dimmer. Refer to the AR-1202 Owners Manual for complete wiring details.MULTIPLE UNITS: Follow the instructions for a single unit for the first AK Series remote. Connect the terminals of the second unit to the corresponding terminals of the of the first unit (create a "daisy chain").Additional units can be added in the same manner.Do not make multiple "home runs" to the AR-1202 or create a "star network".OPERATIONSCENE SETUPScenes to be activated by an AK Series remote must have already been created and stored in the AR-1202 dimmer. See the AR-1202 Owners Manual for instructions on programming scenes.AK Series remotes are used with AR-1202 scenesstarting at scene one (the top button). The remaining buttons use the next consecutive numbered scenes. If multiple units are used, they will ALL use scenes starting at scene one.It is possible to make AK Series remotes operate with other scenes but the unit must be ordered with special factory programming to do so.AK-1005GENERAL OPERATIONNo setup or turn on procedure is needed. When the AR-1202 dimmer is powered on, the AK Series remotes will also be powered. If communication with the AR-1202 cannot be established, a remote will appear to be repeatedly scanning through all scenes.MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRTROUBLESHOOTING1. Check cables and the connections at both ends.2. If the unit is being used with a AR-1202 system - ensure that one (and only one) of the AR-1202 dimmer(s) in the system is set to UNIT ADDRESS 00OWNER MAINTENANCEThere are no user serviceable parts in the unit. Service by other than Lightronics authorized agents will void your warranty.OPERATING AND MAINTENANCE ASSISTANCEDealer and Lightronics Factory personnel can help you with operation or maintenance problems. (HBA,LBA LBD Hydrogen, with a thermal conductivity of about seven times that of air, is in general use as the coolant.Any drop in hydrogen purity during operation of the machine has two adverse effects:The first, and most important, is to compromise the safe operation of the generator. Accurate measurement of hydrogen purity is essential to provide an early warning of a potentially explosive mixture of hydrogen and air.The second is the economic impact of reduced efficiency. To increase plant performance and control generating cost per megawatt, turbine generators must perform with optimum efficiency. A drop in hydrogen purity causes additional windage losses and consequently reduces generator efficiency.Purge GasTo complete the system the AK100 Series also incorporates a purge gas analyzer.During commissioning and de-commissioning of a system it is essential that the hydrogen is safely introduced and removed from the turbo-generator.To avoid an explosive mixture of air and hydrogen during commissioning, air must first be purged from the system by an inert gas; carbon dioxide is in common use for this purpose although argon or nitrogen are gaining popularity. The hydrogen coolant is then introduced and replaces the purge gas.To de-commission the turbo-generator the purge sequence is reversed.Typical Cost of Decreased Hydrogen PurityATEX Compliant Gas Analyzer System for Hydrogen-cooled Alternators AK100 SeriesSS/AK100Issue 93KatharometerPrinciple of operationThe AK100 range of gas analyzers utilize thermal conductivity as its principle for measurement. When a constant current is passed through an electrical conductor surrounded by gas in a chamber, the temperature rises to a point of thermal equilibrium.Provided radiation, convection and end-conduction losses are minimized, the temperature of the conductor depends upon the heat loss by conduction through the gas. The temperature attained is therefore related to the thermal conductivity of the surrounding gas and hence the resistance of the wire is a function of the thermal conductivity. The katharometer comprises a Wheatstone bridge, each arm of which contains a fine, glass-coated, platinum wire. One pair of parallel arms is sealed in a reference gas of known thermal conductivity and the other pair is exposed to the sample gas. A constant current is passed through the bridge network. Any difference between the thermal conductivities of the reference and sample gases causes an imbalance of the bridge. This imbalance is a function of the difference in thermal conductivities of the two gases so the analyzer can be calibrated directly in terms of the percentage of one gas to another.Product descriptionA complete system comprises: Display MonitorOne (or two) gas analysis panels One (or two) power supply unitsDisplay MonitorThe 6553 Display Monitor includes one or two 4689 Digital Transmitters, the range selector switch (excluding AK104),katharometer remote zero adjustment control and Zener diode safety barriersDigital TransmittersThe 4600 Series universal transmitter provides the operator interface and communication to other devices. The signal from the sensing system is converted by the transmitter and the measurement is presented on a large, easy-to read, backlit liquid crystal display. This display is used in conjunction with the four tactile membrane keypads to prompt the user through the programming procedures. The transmitter is fitted with two-step alarms for falling hydrogen purity.Zener Barrier DevicesZener barrier devices are included in the display monitor enclosure to prevent any dangerous electrical feedback from the transmitters to the hazardous area.Power supplyThe 4234 power supply units provide the analyzer assemblies with an intrinsically safe, stable constant current. These power units must be installed in a 'safe' area but the current output from them may be transmitted to the Katharometers in the hazardous area.Gas Analysis PanelGas analysis assemblies, 6540 (low pressure variant) and 6548(high pressure variant) are fitted with a thermally lagged Katharometer, a needle flow-control valve, a flow gauge and a drying chamber.Sample Gas Low-Flow Alarms(Only available when system is ordered complete with Cubicle)Optional intrinsically safe, sample-gas low-flow alarms can be fitted in the Cubicle and connected to the sample gas flow meter. These are used to warn operators of leaks or blockages in the sample line.ATEX Compliant Gas Analyzer System for Hydrogen-cooled Alternators AK100 SeriesSS/AK100Issue 94AK101 Hydrogen Purity and Purge Gas Analyzer Industry standard version comprising:Two gas analysis panels, the first measuring hydrogen purity and the second measuring the two purge gas ranges. Two power supply units. One display monitor containing two digital transmitters. The rear hinged section houses the power supply units and the optional flow alarm relays and miniature circuit breakers (MCBs).Analyzer PanelsThe analyzer panels are available with options for use on low pressure or high pressure, gas sample systems (see system diagrams following). The 6540–203 panels are suitable only for use on systems where the gas sample is vented to atmosphere and the pressure in the analyzer panel is therefore only marginally above atmospheric pressure (1 bar absolute). For applications where the gas sample may be returned to the generator cooling system at an elevated pressure, the 6548–000 analyzer panel must be used. This panel is equipped with fittings suitable for such duties and is pressure tested to 10bar (gauge).Note. As no certification exists for measurements at pressures above 1bar absolute (nominal), it must be understood that the stated I.S. certification does not cover use at higher pressures.ATEX Compliant 84Air Piloted 2-Way Media Separated ValveSeries APVS08Dimensional DataThe Spartan Scientific Series APVS08 is an inert gas/spring operated, 2-Way 2-Position Normally Closed (fail safe), Normally Open or Double Acting media compatible diaphragm valve designed for control of high purity, aggressive and corrosive liquid chemical media. With a small overall footprint, and low dead volume, the Series APVS08 features CPVC bodies, and FKM, NBR, EDPM and PTFE diaphragms to control orifice size of 16mm which afford Cv ratings of 4.70 that far exceed competitive valves of this type. Pressure ratings go from 0 to 120 psi and each valve is tested to bubble tight standard ANSI FCI 70-2 Class VI. The Series APVS08 can be controlled by our proven Spartan Scientific 3-way solenoid pilot valve which enhances operation with manual override and indicator lighted connector options. The Normally Closed version features an optical position indicator showing valve open condition. The Series APVS08 is used where sampling, draining, or transferring process fluid are performed. The Normally Open version function is accomplished by use of a Normally Open solenoid pilot valve. Upon loss of power, namely pilot gas, there is an internal spring that will fail closed in the spring closed version. If this is not a pre-ferred condition, Normally Open fail can be accomplished using a Double Acting version and a 4-way valve plumbed to open on spring return, creating a full Normally Open fail mode. An optional magnetic piston is available for end of stroke sensing when combined with the additional valve position sensor.ALL DIMENSIONS ARE IN INCHES UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTEDA56-2243 Rev.04AIR PILOTED0.62SENSOR GROOVEDIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE CHARTNormally Closed Normally OpenDouble Acting Pilot Press. Check to see if any of the bearings that capture the Roller Drums have come outof their respective holes in the Rail. Reseat if needed.2. Place the Conveyor Drive Assembly on the covered floor upside-down with thecord exit facing upward (see Fig. 1)3. Butt the Conveyor Take-Up Assembly to the Drive Assembly. Be sure that thegroove on each roller drum is on the same side of the bed.4. Bolt the bed assembly together using four 5/16-18 Bolts.5. Bolt the Cross Members between the bases of the Conveyor Legs as shownusing sixteen 5/16-18 bolts. Attach the Cross Member with the open channelfacing toward the bottom of the conveyor leg (see Fig. 1).Figure 1 - Conveyor Bed Assembly6. Attach the Conveyor Leg Assemblies to the Conveyor Bed using the 5/16-18Bolts.7. Using two people turn conveyor bed over onto its legs.8. Set Chamber Floor onto conveyor bed (see Fig. 2). The Chamber Floor is notfastened to the conveyor bed.Figure 2 - Chamber Floor AssemblyConveyor Belt Installation:1. Loosen (but do not remove) the bolts that secure the Tension Adjustment Plates(see Fig. 2) to allow the Take-Up roller drum to slide in the bearing slot.2. Locate the rubber guide that is stitched onto one edge of the belt. This guide isdesigned to ride in the roller drum grooves to provide Hassle-Free-Tracking.3. Carefully remove the splice pin from the inside teeth of the splice connector bypulling gently with needle nose pliers. DO NOT BEND; this pin will be reinserted later.4. Lay the belt on the conveyor bed aligning the edge guide with the roller drumgrooves.5. Pull the ends of the belt together meshing the teeth of the splice while a secondperson reinserts the splice pin (removed earlier) into the channel formed by the interlocked metal teeth. BE SURE to align the edges of the belt with oneanother. It may be easier to rotate the belt so that the splice is on top of theconveyor bed before inserting pin. Using needle nose pliers, fully insert the pinuntil it is centered.6. Tighten belt tension by pulling each side of the drum roller back by hand andtightening the Belt Tensioning Bolts. The tension needs only to be great enough to prevent the belt from slipping during operation. Over-tightening will causedamage to the belt over time.Proper tension = belt should sag 1 – 1.5 inches below the cross-membersas the belt travels under the conveyor bed.Attaching Heating Chamber:1. Using two people set the chamber onto the conveyor bed (see Fig. 3). The sideof the Heating Chamber with the Power Label and connecting lead wires must beon the same side of the Conveyor Bed as the Junction Box.2. The Heating Chamber has oval openings on the underside rails that fit over thehex-head bolts. The chamber should rest flatly on the conveyor bed.3. The BBAIR-2408-240V does not come supplied with a cord. Have a certifiedelectrician connect the unit to power through the Junction Box according to localelectric code.POWER VOLTS AMPS10.51 / 7.9 kW 240 / 208 VAC 43.8 / 38.0 AmpsNote: The conveyor bed is powered by a standard 115 VAC circuitFigure 3 - Heating Chamber AssemblyRecommended Initial Start-Up Procedure:1. Locate the conveyor belt speed control side rail of the conveyor and switch it tothe ON position. Turn knob to the halfway point and listen for any unusualnoises. Belt Speed / Chamber Time is set by placing an item on the belt (such as a coin)and measuring the length of time it take for the item to travel though thechamber.7. Flip the illuminated HEAT switch to the ON position. Verify that the heatingelements are functioning: after about a minute of operation, briefly feel just insideboth the entrance and exit ends of the chamber. The area should be warm.Caution: Heating elements are exposed inside the chamber and areoperation at very high temperatures. Keep your hand close to the movingbelt.Note: Some smoke/vapor and odor may be noticed during initial start-updue to residual material from the manufacturing process burning off theelements.Note: The chamber will function properly with only the duct start collarinstalled. Installing a two to three foot section of 6” diameter ductwork onthe start collar will improve the capture of heat and vapors created duringthe curing process. Optional exhaust kit (LB02-EX) available.8. Once the oven reaches the set temperature, allow a few minutes for the oven tofully stabilize.9. Shut-Down Procedure - Important: DO NOT turn off oven by way of the mainpower switch! Heat from the Elements will damage the internal fans andcontrols. Turn OFF the Heater switch. Allow the oven temperature to fall below 250°F before turning off main power. The Conveyor Belt can be shut off as soon as power is cut to the heaters.Test articles should be run to determine the optimal speed of the conveyor fro your environment and products. It is recommended washing the processed garment as the definitive test. The conveyor dryer is now ready for normal Use and Operation.Routine Maintenance: Performed after first week and every 100 hours of operation.1. The belt should be replaced if it has any tears, voids, separations, fraying, or nolonger rides in the roller-drum groove due to excessive wear.2. Belt tension: the belt will relax over time and tension may have to be adjusted bythe instructions above.MANUFACTURES WARRANTYAll products are warranted against defects in workmanship at the time of shipment. The obligation under the above warranty shall be limited to the repair or replacement of any part or parts manufactured by BBC Industries without charge F.O.B. factory that may prove defective within 12 months from the date of shipment, which are returned to BBC Industries.
