刮痧电影观后感英文After watching the movie "Gua Sha," I am filled with a sense of wonder and fascination. This captivating film took me on an unexpected journey, exploring the deep emotional and philosophical aspects of life through the lens of this ancient Chinese healing technique. The movie "Gua Sha" revolves around the life of an ordinary young woman named Mia, who is struggling with the pressures and challenges of modern society. Mia's life takes an unexpected turn when she discovers the therapeutic art of Gua Sha. Intrigued by the profound healing effects and the wisdom held within this ancient practice, Mia embarks on a transformative journey of self-discovery.One of the most impressive aspects of "Gua Sha" is its ability to seamlessly intertwine various themes. The film not only explores the physical healing properties of this technique but also delves into the deeper emotional and spiritual aspects of human existence. Through Mia's journey, the movie highlights the importance of reconnecting with oneself and embracing our true essence. The visual aesthetics of "Gua Sha" are truly captivating. The cinematography beautifully captures the serene landscapes and scenic beauty of nature, creating a harmonious atmosphere that complements the film's underlying message. The use of natural lighting and earthy tones further enhances the overall aesthetic appeal and adds a sense of authenticity to the storytelling. The film's characters are well-developed and relatable, allowing the audience to form a genuine connection with them. Mia, in particular, undergoes a remarkable transformation throughout the movie. From a restless and lost individual, she emerges as a strong, self-assured woman who has discovered her own inner power. This character development serves as an inspiration, reminding us that we too have the ability to overcome obstacles and find our true purpose in life. The soundtrack of "Gua Sha" deserves special mention. The melodic tunes perfectly complement the on-screen visuals, evoking a wide range of emotions within the audience. The use of traditional Chinese instruments adds an authentic touch, immersing us in the cultural essence of the story. One of the key takeaways from "Gua Sha" is the importance of self-care and self-love. The film emphasizes the need to prioritize our well-being in a fast-paced and demanding world. Gua Sha, as portrayed in the movie, serves as a metaphor for the self-care practices that can help us heal, both physically and emotionally.Furthermore, "Gua Sha" sheds light on the interconnectedness of all living beings. The practice of Gua Sha involves using scraping motions on the skin, which helps improve blood circulation and energy flow. This concept parallels the idea that our actions and intentions have a ripple effect on the world around us. By taking care of ourselves, we indirectly contribute to the well-being of others. In conclusion, "Gua Sha" is a thought-provoking and visually stunning film that transcends cultural boundaries. It beautifully captures the essence of this ancient Chinese healing technique while exploring deeper themes ofself-discovery and interconnectedness. Through Mia's journey, the movie inspires us to reflect on our own lives and embrace the power of self-care. "Gua Sha" serves as a reminder that in the chaos of modern life, finding solace and healing is within our grasp.。
刮痧英文观后感刮痧英文观后感范文第一篇:《刮痧》英文影评 3900字The differences between Chinese and western cultures---from the movie “Gua Sha”This term, I have taken an elective course on western culture and enjoy movies and airwaves, and watched many films, such as “Gua Sha”, “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”, “A Christmas Carol”,” Legally Blonde”, “The Proposal”,“Friends”,“Gone with the Wind”. But what impresses me most is the film “Gua Sha”, which English name is “The Treatment”.Gua Sha is a movie about the difference between Chinese and American culture. The story happens in a Chinese family who lives in American. It mainly related the hero Xu Datong, who is a Chinese, had struggled for 8 years, tried hard to assimilate into American culture, and he as a video games designer in St. Louis had a great success and got his boss's approval and friendship. He and his wife, Jian Ning, son, Dennis, led a happy life in America. He also brought his father from china to live here together. One day, Dennis was stomachache, the grandpa used the Chinese traditional therapy to help him to scrapping, named Gua Sha, which leaves bright red marks on the skin. And then, once Dennis had an accident and went to the hospital, the doctor saw that the scar on his back, he doubts if the children was abused at home, so he called the American children protection center, so it causes a lawsuit of child abuse. Thereby, this happy family happened a series of unfortunate. At the hearing, whatever Xu Datong explained to the judge and the plaintiff about Gua Sha, the Americans alwaysmisunderstood. The opposing lawyer distorted the Chinese classics” Xi You Ji”, and his boss point out he had hit his son on the victory meeting, these all made Datong angry very much, scolding on the spot. In the court, Datong loses his mind so that finally he loses custody of his son. Because of the cultural difference, the father faces misunderstanding in the eyes of American. Thus, it made Datong break up families, and later he resigned, lost his friend and job.Later his father found the truth, went to explain that was him to Gua Sha for Dennis, not Datong, to Datong’s first counsel for the defense, John, along, and decided to leave America. At the airport, the old man want to saw his grandson, so Datong went to the welfare- house secretly to bring Dennis to the airport to see his grandpa off. On their way back, the police found Datong took Dennis, Datong and Dennis played jokes with the followed up police cars……John went to Chinese personally to experience the Chinese traditional treatment--“Gua Sha”, and hurried back to America to tell the accuser and the judge about his experience in it, and ask them to annul Datong’s result of sentence. In the film’s last, Datong f or the sake of seeing his son on Christmas Eve, he climbed up the pipe to the ninth floor which his son lives in Santa Claus dress. At last, John sent thejudiciaries rescind durance in time. And Datong climbed into the house, stayed with his families toget her again. The end is perfect. “Gua Sha” is known by the American law. The family gets together at last. But the cultural difference between countries leaves us thought-provoking. In US, this is a story that repeats itself many times in the area where many oriental IIgrants’ lives and all of these are due to simple misunderstanding between cultures. The film “Gua Sha” is based on a Chinese traditional treatment which is not well-known by most foreigners. Indeed, Gua Sha is a treatment in traditional oriental medicine, In Asia it is usually done with a coin, Chinese soup spoon, slice of water buffalo horn, or even a slice of ginger. It need repeatedly scrape some acupoint in the patient's skin to treat the patient’s illness. It’s very useful treatment for pat ient.Gua Sha is a movie about the differences between Chinese Culture and Western Culture. In American law, parents shouldn’t leave child alone and can’t ill-treat their own children. If they break this law, parent may be taken to the police station, or w hat’s worse, their children will be separated from them. However, the family in the film gets in this trouble. These laws are good for children’s growing-up, but the rules don’t work in China. In China, parents have duties to look after their kids, includi ng beat them the moment children don’t obey their words. In American, it’s illegal, children are protected by laws. What’s more, the Americans don’t understand the Chinese traditional culture, often misinterpret, and even ignore it, so it results in many unfair for Chinese. The film has deep impression to me. I’m not only proud of the extensive and profound Chinese culture, but also moved for the Chinese original ethical concept. In the movie, it embodied that Datong was so filial to his father everywhere, for example, for father get a green card, he admitted that was him to Gua Sha for his son, asked his wife not to tell the thing about Dennis’s law case to the old man to avoid his worried…… And the heart between Datong and Jian Ning was very deep, though they quarreled many times for Dennis’s case. The husband’s wohlwollen to his wife, he chose to separate to let his wife tostay with Dennis, and the wife’s care for the family, do the housework after work, look after the old and the young in the family……The most impressing scene to me is the ending. Datong wants to see his son to climb a pipe to the ninth floor, despite his danger. Datong, the grandpa and Jian Ning, their love to Dennis, was deeply moved to everyone. The film reflects the kind to each other and loves each other in a traditional Chinese family, giving expression to the great of Chinese spirit.第二篇:《刮痧》英文影评 3900字Reading reportThe film "Gua Sha" impressed me deeply and made me think about something about culture. I feel that "Person in the United States, it is very difficult to blend into local culture." through this film. It mainly talked about what happened to a Chinese family in American society. After years of hard work, Xu Datong, a Chinese IIgrant to the US, has finally achieved success as an outstanding video game designer. With his promising career and loving family, he feels that he has become a true American. However, clothes can be changed, colour of skin can't . Language can be learned, way of thinking can't. They are always Chinese, something is deeply rooted, some insistence come from nature. Datong’s father comes over from China, and uses a traditional Chinese medical technique, called guasha, to treat Datong`s son, Dennis. Unexpectedly, an American doctor thinks the bruises on Dennis` back left by the guasha treatment are signs of child abuse, and the finger is pointed at Datong. The film “Gua Sha-the Treatment” reflects the difference of value and culture views between western society and orient society. China society has been receiving impact of Confucianism for thousands years.Confucianism is known as paying attention to human relationship and ethic. Piety, courtesy and loyalism are most important ethic. But in Western culture which is more emphasis on individualism, independence and equality. So conflicts in culture and value are unavoidable. These conflicts have shown in the story. The moving also reflects some difference between Chinese education and Western education. In Chinese culture, physical punishment is commonly used by Chinese family. They think that will help children to growing up. But in western society it is absolutely forbidden. Any abusing children was viewed as illegal conduct. As to show respect to friends, Da Tong Xu punished his own son physically in front of friends. But this was misinterpreted as violence by his foreign friends. This is a misunderstanding in culture between East and West. To some point, this phenomenon reflect Chinese face view, Da Tong Xu punished his own son physically to show father's majesty and power of binding, in order to give face to his friends. But to American, this manner was regarded as inglorious conduct. Why? Because Chinese pay much attention to face, which can be understood hardly by Westerners. Westerners also emphasize face, but not complicated far from Chinese in interpersonal relationship. How to avoid the tragedy of the story? Conflicts can't be avoided in intercultural communications. We must strengthen the East-West cultural exchange and learning, and only with respect and inclusion to different cultures will it be possible to avoid the culture and values of conflict. Take an active part in East-West cultural communication, build the mutual trust to avoid superiority of own culture, try to understand other countries culture.Gua Sha , this method would inevitably leave bruise on the skin, and the story begins here, when the visiting grandpa who does not speak any English used this traditional practice to treat the grandson when both son and daughter-in-law were at work. In the moving, the grandpa asked himself painfully,"Gua Sha-the Treatment have used in Chinese for thousands years, why can't be use in American?" T o grandpa and most Chinese audiences, Gua Sha-the Treatment is so common in Chinese, it seems that they take Westerners should know it for granted, it's their fault because they don't know it. This was the easiest error to be made in intercultural communications, namely, impose own culture on another culture and use own view to evaluate others. Just because of misunderstanding of different cultures, there are so many tragedies happened on orient IIgrants in the corners of American society.。
刮痧英文观后感刮痧英文观后感《刮痧》观后感英文【一】When I first saw this film’s name ,I considered it as a movie that told us something about Chinese traditional therapy treatment. However , after the movie , I realized guasha was just a symbol of the difference between Chinese culture and western culture , and there were many aspects we should have a deep consideration .At the beginning of the film , Xu Datong slaps his son Denis on his face before the cro wd , because Denis hit the son of Xu’s son and Xu just want to show the respect to his boss Quinlan , that time Quinlan feels puzzled and says“what a Chinese logic”. Of course , an American can never know a Chinese logic of interpersonal relationship which has been prolonged more than 2000 years . Chinese can wronged their children in order to maintain friendships and leader-member relation ,while American think everyone is equal and free .In addition , they can also never understand Chinese hit their children because of loving them . In America , people pay more attention to the right of children which can be seen from the law-beating children or leave them alone is illegal , but a Chinese old proverb says “ Spare the rod , spoil the child” .Another scene which makes me deliberate is that the lawyer vilifies Sun Wukong in A Journey to the West as a symbol of barbarism and violence in the court ,then Datong is enraged and then rushes to fight the lawyer . We all can know the reason ,because Sun Wukong is a hero on behalf of justice , representing Chinese traditional values and virtues .Guasha Treatment tells us that the key to avoid the conflict of different cultures is mutual understanding and tolerance.Great Culture difference between China and America【二】After I saw the film Guasha, I was astonished by the great different culture between China and America. In fact, we should find many interesting things in the conflict of these two nations. In Xu Datong’s family, his son Dennis is totally accepted the American culture. Datong and his wife know American rules and their way of thinking, but the still keep many Chinese habitats and Chinese thoughts. Datong’s father, however, is totally a Chinese. He didn’t know American rules at all even he is profound in China. We can see that after Dennis fight with the son of Datong’s boss, Datong hit Dennis. It’s totally a Chinese’s way. American don’t hit their child or they think it’s a kind of mistreat. Obviously, this action became one the proof that Datong mistreated Dennis when they were in the court. John acknowledged that Datong used to hit Dennis. He told truth but Datong was crazy about John “betrayed” him. Here is another aspect. In Chinese’s mind, friends should always help him even tell lie for him, while Americans distinct friendship and justice clearly. They wouldn’t tell lie in the court. After Datong lost, he vented his angry on John and want to resign for his self-respect. Because Chinese always treat “face” very important. Next the most interesting conflict appeared, Datong and John argued about why he hit Dennis. Datong said that he hit Dennis to show his respect to John, to save his face. John confused and cried what kind of twisted Chinese logic! Maybe it’s the most different thing between Chinese and American which Americans would never realize.Another point is in the court, Datong called John to be his lawyer. John thought it’s not comfortable because he is an interlecture property lawyer. He suggested Datong to find a qualified one. But Datong said John is his best friend and best lawyer, he should know how Datong love his son and John should surely help him. Here is one point. When somebody in the trouble, Chinese always find friends first whether he is professional or not. Friends would certainly he lp him. But Americans think that it’s better to find a stranger who can truly help him, rather than a good friend but can’t help him. Another point is after John told Datong he was not a family lawyer, but an interlecture property lawyer, Datong said that Dennis was his best creation, so it’s in John’s field. Actually, many Chinese hold the thought that child is parents’ property. They created their children and give birth to their children, so they can do everything to him, even hit them. However, Americans do not think so. From their perspective, children are equal to adults. They are not parents’ property. So they would never say the same thing as Datong. There are countless aspects show the difference between Chinese and American, such as logic, habitat, the way of thinking and act. We can see a lot of typical examples in Guasha. As a English major, I should learn more about intercultural communication between Chinese and American. Acceptance of their logic is a important way to learn English.。
2023年电影刮痧英文观后感5002023年电影刮痧英文观后感500Gua Sha is a movie about the differences between American and Chinese culture. Xu datong is a video games designer in St. Louis. When his father visits from China, he performs Gua Sha on his grandson, which leaves bright red marks on the skin and causes a lawsuit of child abuse. In the court, Datong loses his mind so that finally he loses custody of his son. I think this scene is shocking and thought-provoking to most of the Chinese audiences. But the most impressing scene to me is the ending. Datong wants to see his son in Christmas eve, he has to climb a pipe to the ninth floor which his son lives. I think the pipe is not only a pipe, but also a gap, a deep gap between American and 5000-year Chinese culture. He wants to climb over the gap and he will never succeed, perhaps no Chinese people really could succeed. It’s about assimilation into American culture, and not assimilation in an ”International” city, like SF or NY or LA or Chicago, but St. Louis, MO (actually shot there)。
Movie Review of Guasha TreatmentChinese immigrant, Da Tong, struggle to hold onto their American dream after the disaster comes to him. Da Tong’s father gives a simple Chinese Medicine therapy called Guasha to his grandson, that leaves bright red marks on the skin and the American doctor mistook it as child abuse behavior. And the Children Welfare Bureau started a law suit about the behavior of Dennis’ father and they took action to protect Dennis. In the court, Datong loses his mind so that finally he loses custody of his son.I think this scene is shocking and thought-provoking to most of the Chinese audiences. And then this story is about how to clear the air and win his son back. The movie Guasha Treatment is designed to discuss the culture differences between China and America. In this movie, we can see culture shock everywhere. At the beginning of the movie, Da Tong insisted to make Dennis apologize to Paul because Dennis hits Paul. In order to make Dennis say sorry, Da Tong hits Dennis when everybody were there. He wants to show his respect for his boss while what his son do is to show his love to daddy. Da Tong gives his boy a light rap on the head when he refuses to apologize and the boy cries to his mother that the reason he hit his playmate was that the other boy called Da Tong stupid, one of many examples of doing the wrong thing to protect your family. This situation makes the American so confused. American would not hit their children in the public when their children do something wrong. Even they will give their children a chance to explain what happens. But in China, parents always hit their children in the public and make them feel sorry. Even not give them a chance to explain their action.Da Tong is the father who is trying to integrate his Chinese cultural beliefs into his daily American reality, especially when dealing with his son. His education is Chinese way while his wife Jenny wants to educate Dennis in American way. There is conflict within his family because grandfather can’t speak Engl ish and is exclude from many conversations because Jenny wants only English spoken in her home for the benefit of her American born son.Da Tong and his wife are very well educated and understand that their child's best chances for success in America, and for him not to experience the same troubles they've had during the past 8 years, are to speak without an accent. They even go so far as to insist the boy use a fork and knife instead of chopsticks, even when it's obvious they are still eating Chinese style food, served in the normal way: communal dishes for the food and smaller, individual rice bowls for each person. Mother seems abit inflexible in her insistence on being as American as possible, while Da Tong's cultural leanings are just as strongly Chinese, although not by conscious choice. The conflict arising from doing the wrong thing out of love or respect for one's family or closest friends continues throughout the movie, and every way Da Tong turns, he finds failure and encounters both obvious and subtle forms of anti-Chinese racism. Even Chinese folklore about the Monkey King (Sun Wu Kong), that Da Tong incorporates into a video game he designed is used to provoke his pride when he's vulnerable and fearing for the loss of his son. Da Tong is misunderstood by everyone, family, friend, and foe, even though he has only the best intentions, and he carries the responsibility quite heavily, making one wrong turn after another.Talking to the different cultures between the East and the West, I have to say American law does play an important role in protecting children. They have laws to force parents to take care of their children. To live their child in home alone, that is forbidden in American law while there is not such law in China. And in America, they have institutions such as Children Welfare Bureau to protect children and to deal with issues about children abuse. Well, in China we concern children not enough. Law are not comprehensive, society power is not enough too.But the most impressing scene in this movie to me is the ending. Datong wants to see his son in Christmas Eve, he has to climb a pipe to the ninth floor which his son lives.I think the pipe is not only a pipe, but also a gap, a deep gap between American and 5000-year Chinese culture. He wants to climb over the gap and he will never succeed, perhaps no Chinese people really could succeed. Person in the United States, it is very difficult to blend into local culture. This is the cultural difference between nation and nation, Chinese people would not live in their own way outside his motherland.shows how a person's cultural beliefs are so deeply set within oneself that it is usually impossible to examine why you do most anything, from how you dress and talk to whom you love and respect and how you show it. The invisible nature of one's cultural beliefs also makes it difficult to impossible to explain yourself to others when questioned. How to avoid such tragedy of this kind of story? We must enhance the cultur e exchange and culture study. Only with respect and knowledge to different cultures, will it be possible to accept outside culture and avoid conflict.小学二(2)班班规一、安全方面1、每天课间不能追逐打闹。

Da Tong's failures show his confusion about the differences between his original Chinese culture and his new American home. Even within his family there is conflict because Grandfather can't speak English and is excluded from many conversations because Mother(Wenli Jiang)wants only English spoken in her home for the benefit of her American born son. Da T ong and his wife are very well educated and understand that their child's best chances for succein America, and for him not to experience the same troubles they've had during the past 8 years, are to speak without an accent. Mother seems a bit inflexible in her insistence on being as American as possible, while Da Tong's cultural leanings are just as strongly Chinese, although not by conscious choice.Da Tong's love for his son is tested severely when Da Tong tries to balance it against respect for his boss. When Da Tong's son hits his boss' son, Da Tong insists on an apology that seems unnecessary and makes Da Tong look stubborn and uncaring. Da Tong gives his boy a light rap on the head when he refuses to apologize and the boy cries to his mother that the reason he hit his playmate was that the other boy called Da Tong stupid, one of many examples of doing the wrong thing to protect your family. The conflict arising from doing the wrong thing out of loveor respect for one's family or closest friends continues throughout the movie, and every way Da Tong turns, he finds failure and encounters both obvious and subtle forms of anti-Chinese racism.Even Chinese folklore about the Monkey King, Sun Wu Kong, that Da Tong incorporates into a video game he designed is used to provoke his pride when he's vulnerable and fearing for the loof his son. The invisible nature of one's cultural beliefs also makes it difficult to impossible to explain yourself to others when questioned. Da Tong experiences an excruciatingly painful and difficult struggle while trying to protect his son, an ordeal that forces him to examine the validity of some of the most vital things he thought he knew about his identity, his Chinese culture, and the new American world he'd chosen as his home. The movie showed me how normal it is for people to look for ways that their culture is superior to others' and how the misunderstandings arising from different cultural perspectives can seem very large, but can be nullified with si-mp-le, 2-sided explanations when people are willing to listen. It appears this film is not readily available in the USA, but it's the best I've seen at highlighting the differences between American and Chinese culture. Parts of the movie's dialog areonly in Chinese and I've yet to find a DVD with English subtitles, although it's easy to get the gist of what's going on during those short passages. The credits are a combination of Chinese and English, holding true to the integration of both worlds. I've noticed some important roles are not credited here on IMDb, such as Judge Horowitz, who was played by Alexander Barton. 刮痧电影英文观后感篇5Whe n I first saw this film’s name ,I considered it as a movie that told us something about Chinese traditional therapy treatment. 电影《刮痧》英语影评[5篇模版]第一篇:电影《刮痧》英语影评Movie Review of Guasha TreatmentChinese immigrant, Da Tong, struggle to hold onto their American dream after the disaster comes to him.Da Tong’s father gives a simple Chinese Medicine therapy called Guasha to his grandson, that leaves bright red marks on the skin and the American doctor mistook it as child abuse behavior. And the Children Welfare Bureau started a lawsuit about the behavior of Dennis’ father and they took action to protect Dennis. At the beginning of the movie, Da Tong insisted to make Dennis apologize to Paul because Dennis hits Paul.In order to make Dennis say sorry, Da Tong hits Dennis when everybody were there. He wants to show his respect for his boss while what his son do is to show his love to daddy.Da Tong gives his boy a light rap on the head when he refuses to apologize and the boy cries to his mother that the reason he hit his playmate was that the other boy called Da Tong stupid, one of many examples of doing the wrong thing to protect your family. This situation makes the American so confused.American would not hit their children in the public when their children do something wrong.Even they will give their children a chance to explain what happens. But in China, parents always hit their children in the public and make them feelsorry.Even not give them a chance to explain their action.Da Tong is the father who is trying to integrate his Chinese cultural beliefs into his daily American reality, especially when dealing with his son.His education is Chinese way while his wife Jenny wants to educate Dennis in American way. There is conflict within his family because grandfather can’t speak English and is exclude from many conversations because Jenny wants only English spoken in her home for the benefit of her American born son.Da Tong and his wife are very well educated and understand that their child's best chances for success in America, and for him not to experience the same troubles they've had during the past 8 years, are to speak without an accent. They even go so far as to insist the boy use a fork and knife instead of chopsticks, even when it's obvious they are still eating Chinese style food, served in the normal way: communal dishes for the food and smaller, individual rice bowls for each person.Mother seems a bit inflexible in her insistence on being as American as possible, while Da Tong's cultural leanings are just as strongly Chinese, although not by conscious choice. The conflict arising from doing the wrong thing out of love or respect for one's family or closest friends continues throughout the movie, and every way Da Tong turns, he finds failure and encounters both obvious and subtle forms of anti-Chinese racism.Even Chinese folklore about the Monkey King(Sun Wu Kong), that Da Tong incorporates into a video game he designed is used to provoke his pride when he's vulnerable and fearing for the loss of his son.Da Tong is misunderstood by everyone, family, friend, and foe, even though he has only the best intentions, and he carries the responsibility quite heavily, making one wrong turn after another.Talking to the different cultures between the East and the West, I have to sayAmerican law does play an important role in protecting children. They have laws to force parents to take care of their children. To live their child in home alone, that is forbidden in American law while there is not such law in China. And in America, they have institutions such as Children Welfare Bureau to protect children and to deal with issues about children abuse.Well, in China we concern children not w are not comprehensive, society power is not enough too.But the most impressing scene in this movie to me is the ending.Datong wants to see his son in Christmas Eve, he has to climb a pipe to the ninth floor which his son lives.I think the pipe is not only a pipe, but also a gap, a deep gap between American and 5000-year Chinese culture. He wants to climb over the gap and he will never succeed, perhaps no Chinese people really could succeed.Person in the United States, it is very difficult to blend into local culture. This is the cultural difference between nation and nation, Chinese people would not live in their own way outside his motherland.shows how a person's cultural beliefs are so deeply set within oneself that it is usually impossible to examine why you do most anything, from how you dress and talk to whom you love and respect and how you show it.The invisible nature of one's cultural beliefs also makes it difficult to impossible to explain yourself to others when questioned. How to avoid such tragedy of this kind of story? We must enhance the culture exchange and culture study.Only with respect and knowledge to different cultures, will it be possible to accept outside culture and avoid conflict.
1、Gua Sha is a movie about the differences between American and Chinese culture. Xu datong is a video games designer in St. Louis. When his father visits from China, he performs Gua Sha (a Chinese traditional treatment) on his grandson, which leaves bright red marks on the skin and causes a lawsuit of child abuse. In the court, Datong loses his mind so that finally he loses custody of his son. I think this scene is shocking and thought-provoking to most of the Chinese audiences. But the most impressing scene to me is the ending. Datong wants to see his sonin Christmas eve, he has to climb a pipe to the ninth floor which his son lives. I think the pipe is not only a pipe, but also a gap, a deep gap between American and 5000-year Chinese culture. He wants to climb over the gap and he will never succeed, perhaps no Chinese people really could succeed.2、Guasha is really a depressive movie. It depresses me much more than Crash. Crash talks about the racial discrimination, a serious issues, while this talks about culture shock, not so serious, maybe. However, it shocks me more. There’re a lot of conflicts in this movie, such as the criteria of abusing children, the using languages between the different generations, the ways of teaching children. Of course, the main one is Chinese traditional values and American ones. It is showed on two characters, Datong and his father.Grandpa is a Chinese traditional highbrow; he can accept the American values partly, but not to follow. At last, he chose to leave. He went back to Peking. Between two families, one is his country, another is his own family including his son with American dream, he chose the former. For an old Chinese, I think it’s a good choice. Also, Guasha is done by grandpa which is the main clue of the movie.Datong is the central character. His words, his actions, his thoughtway, all represent the Chinese traditional values. He is thetypical that the director chose to exprethe theme. All conflicts are focus on him. On him, you see the Culture Shock. The line that impresses me most is ” Because he is Chinese.” After ma-ki-ng so many conflicts, the director tells us the reason of all. It hits the nail on the head. Here, the director forces you to face the reality of this society, in that melting pot, Culture Shock can be a big problem. I’m happy that the director is a Chinese, so , we can safely conclude that we Chinese are no longer as numb as Luxun described in his novels. However, what he can do is just shows us the truth, not the method to solve the problem.I’ve well understood the culture shock since I live with Yao.It confuses me why there should be such a big gap between two Chinese. Especially when that gap is totally different from those between you and me or him and her. Sometimes we just argued for some ” common sense”in Guangdong which she completely can’t accept. Different families’ settings , different regional traditions, and of course, different characters, perhaps are the reasons for this gap. However, we can do nothing with this gap but get accustomed to it.In all, I don’t like this genre of movie which uses the cruel facts to criticize the society. It’s so cruel and depressive that you almost lose the hope to our society and have no bravery to face the truth. Anyway, it makes us tough, too.。
The Gua Sha Treatment is designed to discuss the culture differences. We can know that from Datong, the name of the leading man. Datong is a classical Chinese term. It refers to a utopian vision of the world in which everyone and everything is at peace. While life always plays jokes on people, Datong‟s peaceful life didn‟t last long. He was accused of abusing his son because of the bruises from Gua Sha.Actually, Datong was not the person who gave the little boy Gua Sha treatment. It‟s his father. But Datong decided to be a scapegoat. This was a culture difference. In Chinese traditional culture, law is not important than affection. Though we also praise those people who put righteousness above family loyalty, nobody wants that happen to themselves. Chinese think that being a scapegoat for family members especially for father or mother is a responsibility. The biggest culture difference the film showed us was that Chinese culture was based on experience while western based on specific evidences.Gua Sha has been used as a treatment for thousands years, and many people advocate it for their own experience. Just like many Ancient Chinese technique, we just know it is useful but we can‟t explain it clearly. So to persuade westerner to believe it seems impossible. Then culturesconflict happens. But we can‟t directly blame westerner in this case. Not only Gua Sha, but also laugh therapy and so on are not accepted by westerner as normaltreatments. It‟s a responsible attitude for life. Because we know little about these treatments, we cannot make sure what is going to happen. And how we should deal with it? Ancient Chinese have given us the answer: While in Rome, do as Rome dose. But we should not abandon our own culture, just like Gua Sha, a treatment that helps blood circulate better. So keep on Gua Sha and communication. May be someday there will be a Datong World.I have heard of this movie for many times since I seen it last week. Till now, I am still confused by the concept that “difference and discrimina tion “, which are conveyed by this movie. There are so many cultural gaps shown in this movie. Ways of child education, value of friendship and concept of familial affection, all of these Chinese traditions torture Da Tong, the leading role of this film, and his family during their assimilation into American culture. All the disasters are triggered by a Chinese traditional medical treatment,Gua Sha. Because of a awful scar on Dennis‟(Da Tong‟sson) back left by Gua Sha, the child protecting organization accuses Da Tong with child abuse and Da Tong is deprived of the custody right, then the whole family go divided. Most people regard Da Tong‟s family tragedy as misunderstand resulted from cultural difference. However, I have another peep on it. I have to say I was shocked by the scar at the first sight since I haven‟t known about Gua Sha either, but as soon as I know that it‟s really a traditiontreatment, I rest assure my worry. I can sympathize the American‟s shock caused by the horrificscar and accept their legal action at the very beginning, which is the only thing can be regard as1cultural difference in my point of view. Nevertheless what they do after their initial action is motivated by racial discrimination rather than cultural difference, which I have to point out. I have several reasons for this.Firstly, after the first hearing, they can know that how much Da Tong care about his son and get a brief idea about Gua Sha. I am even quite outraged about the American civil servants‟scrimshank when they bring an accusation against Da Tong to deprive his custody right. The most important point Da Tong pose on the hearing is Gua Sha treatment, but they seem to “forget” it that maybe the main cause of that scar since I haven‟t seen they do any research on GuaShaintheir following investigation.Secondly, When it comes to finding witness, the witnesses they find are Da Tong‟s boss and janitor and even the midwife. How ridiculous is that! I mean the witnesses they find have seldom or even never talked to Dennis. How do they know or they sure about the relation between Da Tong and his son Dennis? If I am the investigator, I would find Dennis‟teachers as witness cause the time they spend with this child is only less than his parents.Last but not the le ast, they totally “forget” the “victim” of this case. Although I don‟t familiar with US law, I suppose Dennis‟opinion in this case should be taken into account which maybe a most valuable one since he is the very person who knows what happens to himself most. In private or public, they should inquire the child himself about the situation goes on him. Regretfully, I haven‟t ever seen them do so .To conclude, this series of matter was mostly caused by racial discrimination rather than cultural difference, I finally confirm.PS: This article was written in one year ago for my "English Culture Class". Hope to find someone to share a view on it.Because He Is Chinese: Chinese Immigrants‟ Struggle for the recognition of American Society—The Maze of Different Value Systems and The Disillusion of Those Outsiders‟ DaydreamBrief Introduction to the Movie:Datong Xu and his wife Jian Ning have been lived in America for eight years; through struggle they have made great success in their career and with their son Dennis they live a very happy life.Xu‟s father comes from China to visit his family. While there, he gives his grandson a harmless traditional Chinese medical treatment of Gua Sha, which the local authorities wrongly regard as child abuse. Thefamily goes through a very hard time when the child is taken away by the child protection agency. Meanwhile, the Xu‟s father leaves America because he finds that the living environment is really not suitable for him, as he feels that Gua Sha, which is so common in China is treated as child abuse in America. Worst of all, he cannot converse in English.Eventually, an American friend of Datong tries Gua Sha and provesthat the treatment leaves2painful-looking marks that are not actually harmful at all. And the end result sees that Dennis is returned home and the family is reunited.Movie Analysis: with a focus on pieces taken from the movieValue Systems deeply rooted in Different Cultures Do Make Clashes As is shown to us, despite the fact that Datong, with his wife has been to the States for eight years, deep in his heart his root is in China and some of the most fundamental viewpoints of his are stilltypical Chinese style.Scene one: at the very beginning of this movie Dennis and the son of Datong‟s friend Quinlan have a fight and Dennis beats the other boy, then Dennis goes to play computer games. Let‟s see what Datong has doneto his son: he shuts down the computer, beats his son and asks him to apologize to Quinlan‟s son, an act making the Quinlan family feel confused and puzzled. Now you see, having lived in America has made Datong look like an American citizen and has gained him a good reputation as an Americancomputer game designer; however, it fails to change his value system since he is brought up in China and mainly educated there. Family structure and their inherent relationships and obligations are a major source of cultural difference. (Xu, page 94) And differences betweenwest and east in value systems occur, thus making the culture clashes: Quinlan never did this to his son, so he can‟t understand Datong‟s deed and feel quite surprised.Scene two: at the hearing Datong shows his fury and “overacts” ashe witnesses someone saying something bad about Chinese culture, making people present at the court feel so astonished. As we all know, the curt is a sacred place and no one should be ledby his own emotion and behave rudely to the judge, as this is an offense to sobriety of the law and the legal system. Complex as the scene may appear to be, what causes Datong‟s deeds can be carefully reasoned: Here again come the cultural clashes: American culture is sodifferent from ours that they may not be able to correctly comprehendand decode our culture; this has caused the person who has said something bad about Chinese culture at the court misperceive our culture, which is a sad truth. When somebody misunderstands your motherland, what will you do? Of course we‟ll fight back and defend our country, wherever and whenever. And this, is the very answer to Datong‟s deeds at the court.Cultural Conflicts and Its CausationWe should admit the fact that this is a movie full of cultural conflicts, among which the different opinions towards Gua Sha and the unhappy life of Datong‟s father in America should be the most serious two. Gua Sha, along with the life experience of Datong‟s father, can be taken as the two significant factors when we are studying the clue of this movie.Scene Three: Dennis is taken away from Datong‟s family because of the seeminglypainful-looking marks left by the treatment Gua Sha.Here the mark is taken for the testimony that Datong‟s family has abused the child; however, Chinese people, as the inventor and practitioner of this traditional treatment, will never come to the conclusion that this is harmful to the patients. Unfortunately, probably no Chinese has thought of the problem that Americans don‟t make sense of this treatment; and also, probably no Americans have realized that Gua Sha is not a punishment or abuse but a way to heal people‟s illness.Misconceptions from both sides has jointly led to the cultural conflicts, both sides need to3retrospect themselves and communicate with each other, which in the movie we can hardly see. And the movie is the reflection of the reality, though a little unwilling to accept the fact, we have no choice but to face this serious problem: lack of understanding and interaction between different cultures.Scene Four: Datong‟s father, finding it extremely difficult to livein a totally different environment and feeling a sense of loneliness, finally leaves for China. The life of an old person living in a foreign country is always a heated topic to be discussed. Today I‟ll focus on the conflicts part: The grandfather, symbol of the Chinese traditional culture and the Chinese past, is confronted with modern America and the contemporary American mainstream culture. It is obvious that these two differ in lots of aspects, and of course so many differences are to cause cultural conflicts, in which the Datong‟s father is too weak to fight back and have no choice but to return to its own culture. What has made a Chinese old man face those cultural conflicts? The reasons are as follows: living environment, language, worldview and values, etc. And in all those elements, I think the unfamiliarity of an unacquainted culture should be the most striking one. Conclusion Part:American Dream? So Hard to Achieve for a Chinese ImmigrantDo you still remember the words said by Datong Xu at the start ofthe movie when he is addressing his prize-winning speech? In his speech he says that if he can keep working hard he will one day become a real, successful American, American as he has thought of is a country full of opportunities and he is the lively example, and at last he says he loves America and that‟s his American Dream.Sarcastically, the start of the movie turns out to be Datong‟s peak, and then both his career and his life have become worse and worse. It is certain that the family is reunited and things begin to become better, but you can‟t deny the fact that Datong‟s American Dream is actually ruined and disillusioned, maybe through time he will soon “recover”, but the pain left by the tragic memoryof this incident is sure to last long.In his famous novel The Great Gatsby Fitzgerald wrote the famous sentence: So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past (Fitzgerald, page 224). American Dream is far away from those immigrants, the famous Chinese writer Zhu Ziqing has once said: “but the happiness is theirs, I have nothing.” And this theory can also be adapted here: the American dream is American‟s, they immigrants have nothing. Even Americans themselves can‟t easily realize their dream, how about immigrants? And what has made this? Of course the difference of culture andvalue systems! To solve this problem, we still have a long way to go.The name Datong means great harmony, I guess it is not only the ultimate goal of the director but also the ultimate goal of people all around the world. It comes as no surprise that it is of vital importance to realize this goal, but there still exist a great number of obstacles, especially in the aspect of culture and communication. What should we do? Just keep walking, keep fighting and trying hard to build bridgesbetween different cultures and help them understand each other tofulfill our dreams.4If one day the great harmony arrives, the world will take on a new look and the earth will make a true global village. When a member of one culture produces a message for consumption by a member of another culture, intercultural communication occurs, which is a kind of communication between people whose cultural perceptions and symbol systems are distinctive enough to alter the communication event. People are alike and different. We carry our culture with us wherever we go, and it influences how we respond to the people we meet. The leading man in the movie Gua Sha Treatment has been in Americafor eight years as a new immigrant. At the beginning of this movie, the man, Datong addressed a speech in American way to show his love to America and American dream. It seemed that he has gained great successin the American mainstream society. Yet it was just an exaggeration of his success when used to make the comparison with the ensuing events.Datong and his wife were born and raised in China, while their son was a Chinese American. They taught their son in American way and spoke English all the time. In the celebration, we can find Datong was praised and encouraged by his boss, who can be taken as a representative of the mainstream business. At the party, because of the quarrel between the two children, the son, Dennis was beaten by his father, which is just a very common action in Chinese culture. The grandfather of Dennis alsoadmitted the way of education. Because the other boy is the son of his boss, Datong gave his son a lesson to show his respect to the boss, who can not understand it at all. The boss was shocked and accepted it temporarily. In American culture, individualism is the key point of American cultural pattern, even between the father and the son. But in Chinese cultural pattern, fathers have the right or responsibility to educate the sons, no matter in a legal way or his personal way. We tend to take it as family privacy, instead of family violence or child abuse. In traditional Chinese culture, family conflict is often solved between family members and it‟s a shame to spread family conflict outside of the house, while in America, the law and regulations make the difference. There was a very plain role in this movie, Lao Huo, the man whoacted terra-cotta warrior, which was a loser in pursuing American dream compared with Datong. There were only the daily life and death of Lao Huo in this movie, which reflected the pursuit and struggling of an ordinary person in America. The death of him made the father of Datong think a lot, which was a clue to tell us the old man will return to China finally. According to the two different results of pursuing American dream, two different result of cultural conflict revealed. After the Gua Sha treatment rendered by the grandfather, Datong and his wife accepted it because of their Chinese culture background and the previous experience. It‟s natural for the couple to keep the accident of child abuse secret to their father. And Datong confessed it was he who gave the treatment to the child, although his wife showed a littlereluctance and hesitance. Actually his father gave the Gua Sha treatment to the son. There was an obvious culture difference in the episode. Chinese people behave on the basis of experience, while American actwith the reference to the specific evidence. It‟s praiseworthy for Datong to be a scapegoat for his father. In Chinese traditional culture, the law is important but sometimes affection counts. It‟s dutiful and responsible to reduce the pains of parents both in China and America. If Datong admitted his5father gave the treatment to the child and his to father will be accused by the court. Although it‟s lawful, it‟s unfilial in Chinese culture, which is an unforgivable fault.Chinese view on interpersonal relationship network has beenillustrated richly in this movie. When Datong needed a lawyer to help him, he sought help of his friend, who is actually not a lawyer offamily law, but copyright law. Because of the lack of legal knowledgeand the good relationship between them, Datong insisted on his help. Before the hearing commenced, Datong‟s wife asked why the court was not the same as she saw before on TV. The tiny episode accounted for the difference between the judicial systems. Because Datong was in trouble, he turned to his friend for help, regardless of his professional field. Chinese weak legal consciousness was also criticized and satirized inthis movie and Datong‟s family became victims of culture shock.Although Gua Sha treatment is common and effective in China, wenever tried to understand how it worked. We learned our culture fromfolk tales, mass media, and education. Culture is transmitted from generation to generation, so we never question the therapy. Everyone is a product of his own culture, it‟s undoubted for American to have nothing idea about the treatment. But we can also find strong prejudice and ethnocentrism of America in the response to the case. The trial of this child abuse case could be regarded as the climaxof this film. Datong‟s family fights against the charge, which is an intense conflict between the Chinese and American cultures. Traditional medical treatment cannot be proved and admitted. They have no interest in proving why Gua Sha treatment is advisable but tried to prove how much the couple loves their son. The judgment and condemnation are just based on the scratch, the judge never showed a fair and sensibleattitude to the medical treatment. Chinese classical book Journey to the West is considered from the negative perspective, even though the accuser knew it was wrong. The malicious and deliberated objection described American competition and materialism. The aim of the dispute is just for the victory in the court, regardless of the wicked ways. The prejudice and discrimination are two apparent obstacles in the intercultural communication. Moreover, the ethnocentrism of America was also perceivable. The judge and the accuser never showed justice to Datong‟s rebuttal. Because of the ignorance of the treatment, they were very indifferent and pride to Datong‟s statement. This uncooperativeattitude made this event worse. It seems all of them are well-educated and civilized, but the communication problems repeatedly arose. Both of the parties held respective strong cultural background and different values, which have implemented enormous impact.Additionally, the stereotyping to Chinese or easterners are mentionable. When Datong said he hit his son to save his boss‟ face, to make him feel better. The boss felt it was twisted and absurd. When Datong said it was a common sense to save his wife rather than the child, the female accuser said, your Orientals are barbarian. Stereotypes werea means of organizing our images into fixed and simple categories that we use to stand for the entire collection of people. In most distances, stereotypes are the products of limited, lazy, and misguided perceptions. In the movie, some Americans never delete their confirmation bias and tend to put Chinese to shame. Then, the failure in intercultural communication occurs.According to Hall‟s high-context and low-context communication, the Asian mode ofcommunication is often indirect and implicit, whereas western communication tends to be direct and explicit-that is, everything needs to be stated. Westerners are more prone to making very explicit statements and have little capability with nonverbal forms of expression. High-context6cultures tend to be more aware of their surroundings and their environment and do not rely on verbal communication as their main information channel. According to the analysis of the movie, we can find the difference between high-context and low-context communication. At the beginning, Datong‟s wife disliked the grandfather‟s smoking, but she said nothing directly and opened the window. Certainly the grandfather understood it easily. On the contrary, Americans often get permission first. And if they want to show the objection, they spoke it out. Butit‟s notimpolite and respectful to ask the elder not to do something. When Chinese show their anger, it is also implicit. Datong was very angry to his boss, because he has thought his boss would help him on this issue. Datong hoped his boss to support him, but the fact that the boss told everything straightforward, which was unfavorable to Datong. In Datong‟s view, they were friends and it‟s responsible for the boss to help him and he took the frankness of his boss as a kind of betrayal. He was unwilling to work there any more and planned to quit that job after no discussion with his boss. It‟s normal to a Chinese man to show his anger and express their spilt relationship. From the perspective of the American, it has nothing to do with their friendship. It‟s reasonable and lawfulto tell the judge all the truth. They don‟t show personal emotions in the business and persuaded Datong to work, which is a way to show his kindness and concern. The ending of this movie is happy and warm. The boss understood Gua Sha treatment and Datong‟s family gained reunion on the important western festival. No matter in East or West, family reunion and family love are enjoyable and happy. In the end, the grandfather educated and taught his son again. It was warm and moving because we can feel the father‟s love; no matter he expressed his love explicitly or implicitly. The grandfather left America because he found it was troublesome and upset for a person like him to live in the Western culture. It was a failure for an elderly like him in intercultural communication, and it was a success for the young generation in America. The last episode in the movie was the boy‟s learning mandarin, which was a strong contrast to the beginning of the movie, where the boy was educated to speak English to prepare for the competition of the future. No culture is more advanced than others and cultural diversity should be advocated and protected. Human brain is an open system and supposed to appreciate the diversity. Finally, the name of the leading man in this movie, “Datong”, is also a Chinese Confucian classical term, which means great harmony. Obviously, the name was created with the implied meaning. “Datong” society is the perfect and ideal society in Confucianism, which conveyed thehope and wish of the movie producers. Although there are so many different countries, cultures, systems, races, etc, it‟s a pursuit tobuild such kind of harmonious society without discrimination, prejudice, conflict, war…Most of us grow up with a strong depressor of American dream, which encourages thinking big and struggling for it. The so-called American dream shows us that all people can succeed through their hard work, and that all people have the potential to live successful lives. Until now the American dream even becomes more concrete. It‟s a dream for many intellectuals to continue their studies and works in America. Theyfirmly believe that it‟s a real paradise where one deserves his own behaviors without any imparity of race, family, fortun etc.7However, is this sort of dream as perfect as we image? Well, the movie Guasha shows the other side of the …dramatic dream‟. Life could never be so easy and ideal as no matters will trouble you. Sometime even a tiny thing could be a fuse of big trouble. In the movie we couldn‟t simply say that it‟s just the butterfly effect, but also a kind of certainty—the certainty of culturaldifference between China and America. In fact, the cultural difference shouldn‟t be ignored for the immigration. The main line of the movie is the Chinese treatment Guasha. The children welfare organization confirms it as abusing. The hero Datong tries hard to explain what Guasha is and separate Guasha from abusing. For us Chinese, it‟s really ridiculous to consider Guasha as abusing. But no matters how hard the father tries to persuade the native Americans, all the efforts turn out to be in vain. The judge can‟tbelieve nor understand the poor father‟s heart. Finally in order tobring their son from charity, the parents have choice but to live separately. Also the teaching method turns to be another difference. In China,we have an old saying: scolding and beating is a kind of love. But the Americans don‟t think so, for them, scolding willhurt a child‟s feeling and beating is an illegal action. Theycouldn‟t understand how parent beats his own child in name of love. The way Chinese parents show their love is quite different to the American‟s. Once a parent beats his child, the other will bite the evidence to prove hisirresponsibility. That is why Datong loses the case. The view of respecting and caring aged parents is also different. In the movie, Datong‟s boss doesn‟t understand Datong‟s being scapegoat of his father. When he asks this to Jianning,Datong‟s wife, she replies with a simple sentence ‟because he is a Chinese‟. She knows it‟s hard to explain Datong‟s behavior to his boss. It‟s as difficult as to persuade the judge that Guasha is not abusing. We can‟t avoid the cultural difference or ignore its existence. So,do as Rome does while in Rome. And communication is a no bad way. Maybe after the communication the world would be more harmony in the future.8。
Datong Xu's Atypical Midlife Crisis
BY Zhang Chi (2008030418)
_“Where are we going wrong?”
_“I don’t know.”
After so many shouts of anger and despair, Datong Xu uttered these three words ,almost with no emotion. He had kept asking himself the same question since the day Daniel was taken away from him.Obviously ,he didn’t figure out the answer. With all efforts and cries proved to be useless, all he could figure out about his terrible situation was just thoese three words “I don’t know.”
Like many middle -aged men , Datong Xu finally came to this troublesome point of life, which is usually called _ “Midlife Crisis”. From some kind of a view from our oriental philosophy , once the balance of life was broken ,your life was in danger of a crisis. When a tierd middle- aged man or woman comes home with so many exhausting trivial affairs still waiting to be handled with and so many complicated relationships to be managed, he or she just cant help to cry about this embarrassing state of living . “What s the meaning of life ? ” The question linger .And then those three words pop out in his or her mind _Midlife Crisis .Anyhow, Datong Xu's crisis was so special that we can hardly find any identical case with his. So lets just hit the nail on the head, his crisis was a atypical midlife crisis._duing to culture difference or we should say culture conflict.
Suppose ,you are a successful middle -aged Chinese computer engineer who had lived in America for 8 years .Through thick and thin and even hardships beyond imagination, you finally won yourself an identity which is recognized by American society. You know , your time is coming. One day it really came ,with unspeakable shock .Your adorable little son had a Guasha ,an ancient Chinese way of acuring diseases, which surprisingly brought you a charge of the crime of child abuse .And then you have to embrace this ,a crisis ,or even disaster.
This is Datong Xus story in the movie Guasha , We expierenced the anger and sorrow with the characters all along the one and half an hour. All of us may ask questions like “How come our great Chinese medicine become a tool of abusing child?”“How come our fabulous Chinese culture have to face with so deep misunderstanding in America ?” Well ,may be we should calm down first . If we look into this atypical crisis a little closer ,we may find what we can learn is more than the shallow impression like “Wow, there are so many differences between Chinese culture and American culture .”
Let's ignore the old themes of great moralities and ethics stressed by Confusianism .Let's discuss how can we avoid this kind of crisis to give thousands of Datong Xu more time to enjoy the happiness of success .
Actually ,I don’t think there is a perfect master plan or solution about that. Because the diversities of culture will be a eternal theme and will always exist. To some extent ,we can even say ,human civilization is so fabulous because of the diversities among nations and peoples .
Anyhow, if we express our culture more clearly and bring the beauty and wisdom of our Chinese culture to the rest of the world ,we should have less anxiety when facing the conflict of cultures. Because we have great confidence of our culture and in ourselves ,for we can make ourselves well understood by others.
At the same time , we should open our mind to accept the beauties and wisdoms of other cultures. By doing so ,can the world be a better place for our living.
Hopefully , this dream will become true, because all of us are working hard for the better understanding of each other.。
