Step 1 Greeting and Revision (about 5 minutes)

Greet students.

Check the homework.

Ask students to do the exercise.

T:What did we learn last class?

S:We’ve learned two important phrases “thanks for” and “idea about”.

T:Good! Let’s get started.

Object:Remind students of what they have learned last class and start the new class.

Step 2 3a (about 15 minutes)

T:Take out your textbook and turn to page 71. Let’s read the 3a together.

What pattern and form should we use if we want to make our invitation more formal?

After reading the invitation from the headmaster, maybe you will find the answer.

I’ll give you several minutes to read the passages.

Finished? OK, I will read this passage and you should circle the words you don’t know.

Students come up with these words and the teacher writes these words on the

blackboard.

Then the teacher gives the detail expression and usage of those words.

T:I want some of you to read the article sentence by sentence and try to translate these

sentences.

Students read and translate the article. The teacher gives directions.

T:Let’s do the exercise. I will give you several minutes to finish it.

After finishing the activity, ask someone to share the answers.

And then, check the answers.

Object:Improve the ability of reading and comprehension.

Attention:It may take much time to finish this process. The teacher should be patient.

If this process takes too much time, the teacher can cancel some time of other activities.

Step 3 3b (about 5 minutes)

Ask students to write an invitation by themselves according to the instruction and the

example in 3a.

T:You all did really well in the activity 3a.

Now, let’s do activity 3b.

It’s a writing practice.

You can write an invitation by yourself and then write something to turn it down.

You’re expected to finish it after class in your exercise book.

I will check your work next class.

Don’t forget to use the information below.

You can see the calendar on the right. It’s for student A.

Find your partner and discuss with him/her until you can both go shopping.

Step 6 Self Check 2 (about 6 minutes)

There are five questions of invitation. You should turn them down and explain your

reason.

I will give you several minutes to finish it.

After that, I will check your work.

Several minutes later, let one student to share his or her answers.

Correct the mistakes.

T:Our main task today is to finish the exercise and you did really very well. Do not

forget finish the activity 3d and write the two articles of 3b on your exercise book.
