Starter Unit 1 Good morning

Step 1 Lead in

Listen to a “ABCDEF!” song. Then Ss learn to sing this song.

Step 2 Presentation

1. Greet the class with a smile and say “ Good morning !” Introduce the words

“teacher ” and “class ” by using gestures.

2.Introduce yourself and say “ I'm Miss/Mr. ”Repeat them several times. Explain t he terms “Miss” and “Mr. ” in Chinese.

3.Leave the classroom, return and say “Good morning, class !” Help the students

respond with “Good morning, Miss/Mr. ” Say “ Sit down, please. Now let's start

the lesson. ”

(Practice it several times.)

Step 3 Game: Choose an English name

1. T: Wehave many new friends in our class this year. They are from the U. S.A.

and England. Who are they? Do you want to know them? Now please look at the screen.

2. Work on 1a.

Work on 1b.

1. Tell Ss that our new friends are greeting each other. Please keep quiet and

listen to the recording.

2. Ss listen and repeat after the recording.

2. Let some Ss read out the letters Aa ~ Hh. ( 注意纠正学生们不正确的读音 )

3. Let Ss try to remember the letters Aa ~ Hh.

4. Now let's work on 2b. Listen and number the letters you hear [1 - 8].

Step 7 Writing

1. First, look at the picture carefully in 2c. Then tell us how to write these

English letters.

2. Ss read and find out the writing rules of the letters Aa ~ Hh.

3. Ss try to copy the letters by themselves.

1. First, read the letters aloud. Then let some Ss read them to the class aloud.

2. Let some Ss come to the front and write down the missing letters on the

blackboard.

3. Check the answers with the class.

Step 9 Read and Talk

1. Let Ss look at the pictures in 2e. Let some Ss read the letters below

each picture.

2. Let some Ss talk about the meaning of each picture.

Step 1 Warming up and revision

1. Write the names.

Boys' names: Bob, Dale, Frank, Eric

Girls' names: Alice, Cindy, Grace, Helen

2. Now let's review the English letters Aa ~ Hh.

Ask some Ss to come to the front and write them on the blackboard.

( 注意和学生们一同纠正个别学生不正确的笔划。 )

3. Greet the Ss.

T: Good morning, Class!

Ss: Good morning, Mr./Ms.

Then sing the “ Good morning!” song.

Now greet your partner with your English names.
