定语从句在写作中的运用

一、合并句子。

二、汉译英。(使用定语从句)

课程篇 定语从句在写作教学中的应用 陈青霞 (青海省大通县第七中学) 摘要:传统的语法教学和写作教学是相分离的。这样很不利于学生综合语言运用能力的培养。其实,在英语学习中,我们完全可 以将语法教学和写作教学有机地结合起来,提高学生的书面表达能力。大家都认为,定语从句的教和学既是英语学习的重点,又是英 语学习的难点。如果将定语从句用于写作中,那是难上加难。所以,我们首先需要搞清定语从句的用法,学生如果在这方面的知识上有 所欠缺,就会影响阅读能力和写作水平的提高,势必影响高考成绩。因此,将结合定语从旬的基本用法,浅析学生该如何得体地使用定 语从句的有效途径。 关键词:定语从句;写作;语法 一、英语教学中语法教学和写作教学现状 传统的语法教学就是将语法知识点一一罗列出来,让学生死 记硬背地记下来,再辅以大量练习。但如今对于语法的考查不再 是简单的语法知识点了。学生所掌握的语法知识可以更多地用于 阅读理解和写作中了。对于写作的教学也是同样的道理。以前的 写作教学对学生的要求也比较低。只要求学生用简单句表达即 可。但现在高考中对于写作的评价标准有所变化,要求学生使用 复合句表达。所以将语法知识和写作结合起来是必要的。下面就 以定语从句为例,浅谈如何将定语从句用于写作中,同时深化对 定语从句的理解。 二、定语从句在英语写作中的作用 1.有助于避免中式英语的出现 汉语中没有定语从句,所以如果在英语书面表达中恰当使用 定语从旬则可以避免中式英语的出现。如: A.I have an interesting book,the book was bought by my father as a birthday present,I like it very much. B.I have an interesting book.and the book was bought by my father as a birthday presnet.and I like it very much. C.I have an interesting book.which was bought by my father as a birthday present.I like it very much. 从以k-<个例句中不难看出,例句A是错误的。分句问不能 用逗号。例句B是根据汉语意思表达出来的,况且and用得太多。 例句C使用了定语从句,符合英语的表达习惯。 2.用来增添细节,使表达更丰富、完整 高考中书面表达的标准和要求是十分严格的。除了覆盖要求 的几点之外,还要进行拓展和补充,使得文章内容完整。我认为, 适当使用定语从句是增添细节的一个有效方式。 三、如何将定语从句恰当地运用到写作中 1.掌握定语从句的基本用法 尤其要注意时间、地点和原因作先行词时,当先行词在定语 一82一 从句中作状语时,就用when,where和why:当先行词作主语或宾 语时,就用that或which. 1 will never forget the day——we spent together. 1 will never forget the day——we were at schoo1. 2.注意划分句子成分 要清楚地知道定语从句是对某一名词或代词进行修饰或限 定。所以在简单句中要注意区分名词或代词,然后对这一名词或 代词进行描述,适当增加细节,使得内容完整。 I haye a book.此句中的名词是book,所以拓展的时候就要增 加与这一名词相关的内容。如,I have a book,which was bought by my father as a birtday present. 3.不同的要点中包括同一个人或者事物 不同的要点可以用独立的分句解决,如: We are a big family. The family consists of 24 girls and 26 boys. 这两句话可以融合成一个定语从句。首先找出这两句中出现 的同一个人或者事物family,然后把其中的一个句子变为定语从 句。这个句子中的family要换做关系词which去引导这个句子,紧 跟在另一句话中family的后面:We are a big family,which consists 0f 24 girls and 26 boys. 现今中学生用英语写作文时很少用定语从句,致使作文缺乏 连贯性、逻辑性甚至可读性。定语从句缺乏症不像其他错误那样 显而易见,因此往往被学习者忽视。本文写作的目的不仅希望引 起学习者和教育者的高度重视,并积极采取措施,以提高写作 能力。 参考文献: [1]常虹.英语定语从句及其表达功能探析:以大学生英语写 作为视角[J].四川教育学院学报,2008(7).
